3 comments about TOY TRAIN MEMORIES.
- Very nice book with high quality photos. I did not read it all but enjoyed flipping through after we became interested in model trains this Christmas. I like the nostalgia of it although I personally did not experience it in my past.
- Vividly illustrated from cover to cover with numerous full color photographs, Toy Train Memories by John Grams is a superbly organized and presented celebration of classic model railroad sets, such as many readers might have once received as Christmas gifts or seen in department stores near the holiday season, especially during the 1940's and 1950's. Very highly recommended for enthusiasts and collectors of classic model trains, Toy Train Memories is a veritable treasure trove of nostalgic memories about these fascinating toys enjoyed by generations of youngsters (and their fathers!), the companies that created them, as well as the advertising and marketing efforts that made them household names.
- I find it to be a beautiful book, a mixture of newer color photos of Christmas layouts, mixed with older classic black and white photos sent in by toy train lovers. Makes a great coffee table book during the holidays, or any time for that matter!
And I will admit that page 33 is my favorite,...due to the fact that,...it is a photo of me!! This book will make a GREAT Christmas present for all toy train lovers, and just might interest some to re-kindle their childhood memories, and drag out those trains and dust 'em off!!

2 comments about Winchester Rarities.
- This book has some great images of Winchester collector items but the actual narrative is quite limited. The book also includes prices of the pictured items but I would suggest that you take them with a grain of salt. In fact, as many of the images are from the author's own collection it appears that he is simply attempting to raise the value of his collection by inflating the suggested prices.
- This is a brand new, year 2000 library volume that would be a treat to any Winchester collector. The 208 page book contains more than 800 very large, full color, sharp photos of the rare and one-of-a-kind Winchester advertising items, hardly ever seen. Topics range from rare calendars, posters, banners, signs, case inserts, window displays, counter signs, booklets and various paper items, counter pads, The Winchester Junior Rifle Corps, Winchester Store Era, Cartridge Boards, Medals, Magazine Ads, and more. There is a nice introduction to the collectible and sufficient text for many of the items pictured. Many of the products can't be found in any other book. A really beautiful book that collectors will treasure.

3 comments about Vintage Snowmobilia: A Guide to Snowmobile Collectibles.
- The book provides a broad, yet overall shallow perspective in the snowmobile collectibles market. His section on oil and gas cans is quite extensive, yet barely scrapes the surface on clothing, which I purchased the book anticipating more there. However, a book could be written on clothing alone, and I give Mr. Bertolino credit for tackling the subject as a whole, and for creating a book that was long overdue. Thanks.
- Book received was in excellent condition. It was delived in the time frame promised.
- My husband and I really liked this book- we are avid Snowmobilers and while we don't collect (yet), this is a great resource for any collector with detailed information regarding vintage snowmobilia.

5 comments about Ocean Liner Collectibles (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- Outwater picked a fascinating subject. Her text is well thought out and the quality of the pictures are superb. Where the author hits a bump is that she had too much from modern liners and not enough from the older liners. Also the guesstimates on the prices of the items were a bit high. As a serious collector I think they were raising the rates on certain items long before their time.
- A wonderful book for collectors and those just wanting to learn more about ocean liner history. Informative and filled with great pictures. Will make you want to book your tickets.
- Myra and Eric have recreated the glory of Ocean Liner travel by assembling many fantastic artifacts in this book. Although I was born too late to have experienced this great way of travel, I can now imagine what it must have been like. Reading the menus, seeing the china and crystal, or gazing at the elaborate certificates commemorating a voyage makes me realize how much we have sacrificed by replacing the slow luxury of steam ship passage with the fast cost-cutting airplane. This book allows one to begin collecting and reliving an era by providing a benchmark of prices and diversity of collectable memories.
- I think that Myra and Eric Outwater did a fantastic job of assembling a vast array of interesting collectibles and relevant stories. The book really piqued my desire to go on an ocean liner and explore what elegant travel used to be. It is a must have for ocean liner lovers and experienced travelers. Makes for a great coffee table book as well.
- Ms. Outwater did a very nice survey work on the subject. On top of it it is nicely printed and with very good photos. Just two aspects reduce its importance as a reference book to serious collectors: 1 - Prices, in its majority, are faraway for the reality, considering that it was published in 1998; 2 - It excludes a very important aspect of ocean liner memorabilia: stock certificates of the ocean line companies
