3 comments about Toys A to Z : A Guide and Dictionary for Collectors, Antique Dealers and Enthusiasts.
- Perfect for the novice to the collector. Alot of rich history and terminology of soft toys and collector toys.
But that is what this is a Pure Dictionary!
- One quality shared by all really good reference books is that the reader who goes to look something up finds himself twenty minutes later unable to remember his original question.
TOYS A-Z is handy sized and beautifully designed, with a thumb index and hundreds of illustrations of toys, ads, logos. The author is a real presence. Mark Rich has clear interests and an individual point of view. He shows us the story of an industry devoted to providing playthings and is strongest on U.S. toys. The book, in fact is a study of Americana. And an original piece of Americana as well. If it was twice as long, it would be ten times as good. Ten times as long and nobody who dipped into it would ever be heard from again!
- This is a brand new (2001) 480 page handy 6 x 9" book that toy collectors will want to keep with them when antiquing. It contains more than 350 black and white photos and covers the gamut of toys from A to Z. It's called a guide and dictionary for toy enthusiasts, and includes every type of toy imaginable. Items are listed by brand names, manufacturers and type of toys, cross-referenced for easy item location and identification. There's also much information regarding toy making companies. The book has a handy thumb-index like a dictionary for speed of use. It's a useful addition to your collectibles library.

2 comments about Teddy Bears and Steiff Animals: First Series.
- This is a nicely organized book chock-full of great pictures. It begins with a brief history of the teddy bear, conservation tips, and guidelines on what to look for when investing in a bear. It moves on to discuss Steiff dolls and animals with guidelines for evaluating Steiff dolls/animals for purchase or sale. The book covers miniature bears, Teddy Bears before 1940, Teddy Bears from 1940-1980, contemporary Teddy Bears (as of 1984), artist bears, Teddy Bear related items, Steiff Dolls, Steiff Animals before 1940, and Steiff Animals from 1940-1984.
Hundreds of items are photographed and described in detail with notations on what adds value and/or is rare. Even though the first edition came out eighteen years ago, it still remains a classic reference/guide and it is updated every few years.
- Firstly are you a Steiff or TeddyBear in general collector. If the answer is Steiff this book will have no use to you. The first seven pages are informative but after that it is packed full of colour pictures obtained from peoples personal collectons. It is more like a photo album of bears, although saying this, the pictures are of excellent quality. If you want to check the value of a bear pictured you have to look up the page number at the back of the book and find the relevant item. I have 15 Steiff Bears and not one of them were listed, I have looked through this book 3-4 times and all in all I am dissapointed in it. I will place it in the book cabinet and probably never look at it again.

5 comments about Renwal World's Finest Toys.
- I purchased this book for my mother who played with Renwal toys as a child. She is trying to complete her childhood collection. She calls it her 'Renwal Bible'!! It is packed with great information and photos. I sincerely believe this is the best gift I have ever given her!
- This book has the most information available on the era of the Renwal dollhouse furniture. Having had a collection of Renwal since 1945, I was pleased to see that this book has the current values of such items. I was happy to receive the book in excellent contition, as I usually do in my purchases from Amazon.
- Kudos to author, Charles Donovan, for creating a great book on the history of the Renwal Company toys! As one of the many Baby Boomers collecting toys from their past, I am an avid collector of old doll houses (mostly Marx), furniture and dolls. This book on the Renwal toys will be a good resource tool. No one else made doll house dolls like Renwal. This book offers beautiful, clear photos, descriptions and values of the Renwal dolls, furniture and other toy items made by Renwal. There is also a "bonus" at the end, a copy of an early catalog describing the toys. I would highly recommend this book to other collectors.

- Mr. Charles Donovan has put together a fine book (all known catalogued and uncatalogued) toys manufactured by the Renwal company from 1945 through the late 1950's. A concise guide for collectors with clear photographs and excellent data.

1 comments about Betsy McCall: A Collector's Guide With Values.
- As a primarily modern Betsy collector, I was thrilled at the vast amount of information on the Tonner Betsy dolls, and loved seeing the vintage outfits and dolls pictured in the book. Marci has really done her homework, this is one fabulous book!

5 comments about Flea Market Fidos: The Dish on Dog Junk and Canine Collectibles.
- Such a fun and witty little treasure. If you love dog collectibles and vintage treats, this is the book for
you. I received it as a gift, and have been giving it
as a gift to all of my fido friends ever since.
- This book explored the 'types' of canine collectibles one might find in the marketplace, but it didn't address the 'value' of these collectibles, which would have been much more insightful. The content was purely fluff with little substance to offer a true collector.
- I just purchased this magical book. I couldn't put it down. The photos were amazing and the writing was so clever and unique. Each page brought a new smile and warm feeling. I am going to order one for each of my friends and family. I can't think of a nicer gift to send someone than this special book. In my home, it's my other "best friend ".
- Dog junk and canine collectibles haven't received their own collectibles guidebook before: enter Flea Market Fidos, a unique guide to canine collectibles which covers everything from dog drawings, to crafts and stuffed animals. Besides history and values, Flea Market Fidos also covers the best shops, flea markets, and web sites for locating canine valuables.
- What an adorable book! I received it as a gift yesterday and I just couldn't put it down. The photos are great, the writing is comical and its a real feel-good book!

1 comments about Collectibles 101: McDonald's Happy Meal Toys (A Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- I was mislead to believe this book contained Happy Meal toys from 1999 when, in fact, it only had the first couple promotions from 1999. If you are looking for a guide to pre-1999 Happy Meal toys, this book has great pictures, descriptions and price guidelines. Also has a good section on foreign Happy Meal toys.
