1 comments about Aggies, Immies, Shooters, and Swirls: The Magical World of Marbles.
- There are several things that make this book a stand-out. The first is the basic information about the types of marbles (antique, machine-made, modern) and the makers of the marbles. If you're looking for extensive historical information, this may not be the book for you. But if you collect marbles and are interested in good, basic information as well as tons of photos (most enlarged so you can see every detail) of a wide variety of marbles, this book fills the bill. While I'm no marble expert, I learned a grat deal from reading this one!

5 comments about The Ultimate Guide to Hot Wheels Variations: Identification and Price Guide to More Than 2,000 Collector Number Packs!.
- I started collecting Hotwheels cars about 3 years ago. What makes me different than most of the other collectors, is that I live in Santiago, CHILE (here, Hotwheels cars market is very small compared with other countries). Many of the variations and models that exist in US, aren't available here. Mike's guide has been an invaluable tool for me to get those variations I never know that exist or I will never find hanging in pegs in Santiago.
I also have had the chance to email Mike many times and he's very compromised with this hobby (or better said, passion!). If you love Hotwheels cars, you MUST buy this guide (or the new one that's coming by the end of March 2004). U2, from RTC.
- I found the 'Ultimate Guide to Hot Wheels Variations' one of the most valuable resources to date for the valuation of Hot Wheels variations; both for collectors and dealers alike. As owner of [a web site,] I refer to this guide on a daily basis for determining the minute differences between Hot Wheels variants. The guide is concise, well laid out, easy to follow, and extremely accurate (in my opinion).
- This book stinks the pictures are horrible I donated it to te libary. It stinks
- Hi Michael I had the pleasure of getting a copy of your book. It is excellent very informative and a great tool for us collectors. The descriptions were complete and detailed. I have been telling my fellow collectors about it. Finally a book that answers the question "Is there anyone more obsessed with Hot Wheels than me?" Well Michael my deepest sympathy it might be you. LOL . But I do want to give you your deserved recognition for a job well done on the book. Looking foward to future updates of your book. Thanks again for all your hard work on The Complete Guide to Hot Wheels Variations. Yours in the brotherhood of obsessive compulsive Hot Wheelers.
- This is a great book and being a variation collector for many years I can tell you that if there is a variation not listed in Mikes book, it probably does not exist. I have trusted this guy for many years and he has always been a straight shooter. I have never hunted for cars that were just rumors. I was so glad when I heard this book was coming out, I couldn't wait to buy it. It would be great if I had something he didn't have in there, but I'm still looking for all the things that are! And by the way. The Suzuki Quad is listed on Page 79 number 311 c variation, listed as "Tiger Paw Wheel" which some would call the POW wheel. Mike has always used his own abbriviations. That's why I like him and his book. (His web site was great, sure do miss it) He doesn't follow anybody elses lead. He goes his own way. I have met him and he is real easy to talk to. He is also the first one to admit when he is wrong, which you don't see too much these days when people write books. Thanks for the great book, I can't wait for the next one!

1 comments about John Deere Farm Toys: Identification Guide, Value Guide, Inventory List.
- Mr. Vossler's task was daunting: list all the variations of John Deere toys that are known to exist, associate nearly 1400 photographs with the individual toy, and set a value range for each item. The value range for most toys is appropriate. Unfortunately, several listings are duplicates and nearly one photograph per page does not match the description. This book needed to be reviewed by one of the many collectors knowledgeable on John Deere toys before being published.
I hope Mr. Vossler publishes a second edition in a year or two with corrections, additional pictures, and new listings of items released since this book was published.

2 comments about Warman's Bean Plush Field Guide: Values and Identification (Warman's Bean Plush Field Guide).
- While this book doesn't include every beanie ever made, it does have 1,200+, with a clear color photo for every one listed. About 70% of them are Ty, which makes sense because that's by far the most popular maker. And the photos are big enough to easily identify the beanies. It's got the best photos of beans and Ty tags that I've seen in a beanie book. It's not an exhaustive manual, but it does have a lot for its size. After all, it's a pocket field guide, not an encyclopedia.
Also, it has a lot of information and tips on how to buy and sell beanies on eBay. While the prices are lower than secondary store prices, they're right on for eBay. Overall, I'm really pleased with it and I definitely think it's worth the price.
- I bought this book today because I'm an avid Ty collector. There are so many Beanies not listed, and hardly any of the various other types of Ty products. Also only a few pages of each of the other brands of plush when I know there are so many products. This is just not a very complete book. If you want a much better, although still not perfect Ty collector guide, go to Bangzoom Press and buy the Beanie Babies Value Tracker from them.

3 comments about Standard Guide to 1:18 Scale Die-Cast Cars (Standard Catalog).
- Great book, This is what I have been looking for. I was able to find all of my 1:18 scale cars in this book and put a value on them.
- This has to be the worst price guide I have ever seen. Forget about the values not even being close, the Ertl listing has so many errors its pathetic. Several of the cars listed are 1/43, Not 1/18, and are listed as 1/18, colors listed that were never made it goes on and on.
Sorry but it just don't cut it.
- After waiting for more than 9 months to get this book I was very disappointed after using Cast-car publication by Dan Boyd. The descriptions were very short and in most cases uninformative. I looked up 20 cars immediately from Ertl, Exact detail for Lane, Carousel, and Burago and Supercars (NO AutoArt) only to find 6 out of 20 and these are older than 2001 and could not be found. Very disappointing. All models did not have photos as Cast-Car Publications and the descriptions and details are sketchy or non existent, which is one of the values of the Cast-Car Publication. It does have more 1:18 scale models than any other Manual at this time and the $ VALUES that were assigned I found to be from a little low to extremely low even for an eBay auction. Some of the values assigned to very limited edition cars that even by todays standards are rare or hard to find are lower than what they sold new for and are bringing more than the values given to them in this publication. For example 1969 Grumpy's Toy Camaro SSC, 1969 Yenko Nova #1 Issue, Yenko Camaros #'s 1 & #2 are all listed at a ridiculous $60.00, the GMP Grumpys Toy Nova is also listed at $60.00, and Lanes 1967 Grumpy's Toy is listed as a $60.00 value. I WOULD BUY ANY OF THESE AT THE VALUE STATED IN THIS GUIDE AS MANY AS I COULD GET MY HANDS ON AND MAKE GREAT MARK-UP. WHERE DID THEY GET THESE VALUES??? These are only a few of the many glaring errors I found in an initial 30 minute review. Except for photos in the guide I found it exteremely lacking in why I made the purchase. I'm patiently waiting for the next issue of Cast-car which will include many more manufacturers than just Ertl.

2 comments about Ohio Art: The World of Toys.
- I bought this book as I collect the metal farm playsets made by the Ohio Art Co. I was quite disappointed as they had very little information on them. They made many more sets that what is covered in this book. However, if you are interested in their children's watering cans or dish sets, you'll be in heaven as they must show just about everything they ever made. Quite impressive!
- Since my mother was Fern Bisel Peat, I was most interested in finding out about this publication, but, unfortunately, I only saw a couple of pages of it. I'd like to know if there are many of her designs included in this publication.
