1 comments about Tiger Woods, Golfing Champion.

  1. Tiger Woods is one of the greatest athletes living today. Not only is he a great golfer, he is a great person. He shares his money with clinics that help young people learn to play golf.I liked the book because it told his life story and showed what a winner he is.

1 comments about Sunday Is My Day.

  1. I purchased and read this book in the late 90's when it first came out. I was intrigued since I'm an Eagles' fan. The book spoke about football, but also about how Fryar got his life on track when he stopped the substance abuse and came to God.

I recently saw Fryar at a breakfast where he was the speaker and was grateful to have him sign my copy of the book. So I gave it another read-through and found it to be enjoyable once again. The book is a great read if your interests include football and/or spirituality.

5 comments about Heart and Soul.

  1. This is a wonderful book for fans of Elvis! There are such great photographs of him. If you are a fan of Elvis then you MUST have this book!!

  2. I cannot put this book down. The pictures are some of the best I've ever seen. I especially liked his philisophical views on winning and losing. I also like the way he leaves us wanting for more. I hope he writes a sequal very soon!!!

  3. Elvis' book Heart and Soul is a wise, dignified and honourable account of Elvis' thoughts on training, competitions and his own life trials. By reading what Elvis wrote and seeing the breathtaking photos the reader gets a deeper appreciation for this amazing man. This book comes highly recomended for anyone who is on their own journey, looking to become wiser and more aware of the person in which he is through life's trials and accoplishments. It is simply one of the most inspiring stories of struggle, championship, courage, dignity, and honour one will ever read.

  4. I couldn't have been more impressed with this oversized, picture packed coffee table book. Rather than following the same old biography style, and sharing all the details of his family life, Elvis gives his readers a peak into the mind of world champion figure skater. For his fans, it was a chance to get to know him a bit more and the title couldn't be more fitting to someone who always gives his all to his performances. I appreciate his honesty and his humility as he shares about his experiences.

A very inspiring and delightful book with some great *quotables* in it! I look forward to enjoying some more awesome skating from this classy champion!

A must-have for all skating fans!

  5. This book is exceptional in that it gives one a look at one of figure skating's most enigmatic figures, Elvis Stojko. His unconventional style has often thrown skating purists for a loop, and being able to read his thoughts, motivations, and methods for reaching his goals helps one to understand why he is so loved and admired by his many fans. If I have one complaint, it's that the book should have been done after the Nagano Olympics, considering all that transpired. It's for this reason the book has an unfinished feel... but I wouldn't mind a sequel. :)

  1. This is not a guide to technique, it is more of a reference book. This newly updated and expanded version also includes the latest international tournaments and elebrated names as well as new championship courses.

I'll let you guess who's picture is on the first page.

If you want to know about the history of golf, where championships are held and who is famous in the game of golf, there is absolutely nothing like this book!

Some of the great features include:

4 comments about Muhammad Ali in Perspective.

  1. Another Hauser Winner and A Great Ali Perspective

After the epilogue I read the Fight Chronology, glanced at the index and acknowledgements and realized I was done. I closed the book and felt sad that my time being spent with Ali was over for today. I flipped the book over and there he was on the cover. Older than I remembered, but still handsome and still a twinkle in his eye.

I don't know how Hauser always seems to do it, he always seems to make me forget about the world around me and just become part of his writing.

This is a great book - if you've read other Ali books or if his is your first - it's a great, easy book that simply shows you different perspectives on the GREATEST Of All Time - Muhammad Ali.

I laughed out loud a lot and got all teary eyed at times as well.

Great book - Great photos - Very hard to find - one of those you'll have to buy used on Amazon or find on eBay - do yourself a favor - find it and spend an afternoon with it.

  2. I think the book is excellent, after all I happened to be in the book with muhammed ali, as one of his fans. I think its on page 42. we're in a cadillac surrounding him.

  3. This book is a wonderful pictorial of Ali's life and times, triumphs and defeats, both personal and professional. A must for any fan of Ali or the triumph of spirit over surroundings.

  4. From the pictures to the text, Hauser shows Ali in all his greatness. The pictures are captivating and the text allows the reader to experience what Ali has to offer. "In Perspective" allows everyone from the common sports fan all the way to the boxing expert the chance to step into the life of Muhammed Ali.

2 comments about Bjorn Borg.

  1. preamble: I know a lot about Bjorn Borg, and have watched him several times in his hey day. What memories !!!

After his retirement, who can blame him for letting his hair down and having a good time ? He sacrificed his education, and hours on the tennis court to achieve what he did. Only Bjorn knows what it was like.
This book is happy to focus on the negative side of Bjorn simply to achieve book sales. But bjorn gave millions of people like myself happiness and fond memories. Even today I'm still practicing that running back-hand down the line ! The guy who wrote this book is a business man through and through, whose only aim is to make money. Even if bjorn did get up to mischief after his retirement ... so what ? Who wouldn't at the age of 25 ? The other books "Love Match", The "bjorn borg story" and "Bjorn Borg" are much better and objective and balance against this book. The author seems hard done by by the business dealings with Bjorg, but i'm sure Bjorn also has his side of the story. The book takes something negative about the man, and makes a complete chapter about it.

  2. Bjorn Borg stands as one of the most dominant sports figures in the history of tennis. This account written by his former business partner discusses Bjorn and his life after his initial retirement from the game which he dominated. This "novel" is unauthorized and contains many facts which Bjorn himself would challenge. If you can read it with the understanding that it is not necesarily "non-fiction" you will have a good time considering the pressures and post tennis life of a great champion. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Borg.

1 comments about Tall Enough to Coach: Elements of Leadership of Coaching and Life.

  1. "Tall Enough to Coach" is a true example of a Leader and a program that makes it from "Good to Great" Jim Collins would be proud! Coach Sharp's lessons from the backboards of basketball can work for anyone, even in the boardrooms of business. Her visualization, goal setting, her non-negotiables, to getting the right person in the right position knowing what they can contribute (right person on the bus - in the right seat) build upon the success that she humbly credits to many others and God. Her "POWER" intangibles that she looks for in others alone could help anyone in wanting to achieve success. If you don't have time to read "Good to Great" - read "Tall Enough to Coach" to see the actual application.
