- First of all the word complete does not belong on the cover of this book. I think that this book is a perfect example of someone trying to do everything but ends up not doing anything well. There are books dedicated to subjects such as guns, knives and decoys, which could have been left out of this book. I think chapter 14 is a good example this chapter tries to cover cartridges, shotshells, and powder cans and kegs. There no descriptions, or pictures and it barely touches on each subject. If i had to describe this book in one word it would be disappointing, I would not recommend this book to anyone.
- Take this great little book along with you to the next church yard sale, estate sale, or flea market, and you may find yourself going home with a unique fishing lure, an old Orvis rod, or a box of old shotgun shells-without paying too hefty a price. Great descriptions; great pictures. I keep it by the bedside for quick reads. Highly recommended by an old duck hunter and his black labs.

2 comments about Skateboard Retrospective: A Collector's Guide.
- Skateboard Retrospective by rhyn noll is filled with lots of wonderful pictures showing skateboard decks/completes. The antique, vintage, & old school skateboard pictures are simply fantastic! I was able to formulate a plan, then execute a vintage skateboard purchase strategy using this book. My hardcore sidewalk surfer days were 1973-87, on the hills of Univ Calif Berkeley, and flatlands of Palo Alto, Ca. Obviously the vintage section of the book was my favorite!!. I actively buy and use collector books as a guide due to an ebay addiction :-)I have a pretty good idea as to what is a good collector guide book and what is not. Thus, I recommend Skateboard Retrospective for skateboard collectors or anyone interested in skateboarding history. Oh, this book got me back into sidewalk surfing again! Yep, in my suit/tie, bald and fat. Started, 2001 & am going strong as long as I don't fall!! Can be seen on Sand Hill Rd, the venture capital location of the world... Guess a skateboarder never really grows up!
- The selective history of skateboarding thrown into a blender and set for puree. While there's some good historical action photos, and neat collectible skateboards, this book is so full of misinformation and jumbled facts that I don't know what to take for the truth. For example it says that Danny Way was an early pioneer of the air in the 70's. Danny was instrumental to taking vert skating to the next level, but not until the late 80's. The book is also merely a tool for the author to promote his own obscure line of skateboards, and for a small group of collectors to inflate the values of their private collections. As proof that the author has not done his homework, mixed in with the "glossary of skateboarding terms" are rollerblading terms! The book best covers the 60's, but after that it just falls apart. I could site more examples, and rant about how bad it is, but you get the point.

4 comments about The Heddon Legacy: A Century of Classic Lures.
- I bought this book for my husband since he is a lure collector. He indicated that the information contained in the book was very helpful and he actually kept the book instead of giving it to one of his buddies which he has done in the past with other "collector" books that I got for him.
- If you need-to-know, Roberts & Pavey are the go-to-guys. They leave no stone un-turned in this comprehensive volume on the premier fishing lure maker of the early 20th century. A MUST read for collectors of Heddon bait.
- Much reasearch went into making this book. This book is loaded with Pictures of Lures, Boxes, Reels, Advertisings, Prototypes, Color Codes & Numbers. Prices are included for most of the lures which can be used as a general price guide. Very Detailed Historical information that should clarify most if not all of your unanswered questions on the timelines and rarity of specific lures to include interesting articles and interviews from family and friends on the conception and start of the company.
- Bill Roberts and Rob Pavey's Heddon Legacy gathers a century of classic wooden Heddon fishing lures, but it's much more than an identification guide. This covers the Heddon lure legacy from its accidental birth to its marketing, advertising, and changes. Color photos of the lures accompany details on fishing which avid fishermen as well as collectors will find inviting.

3 comments about The Negro Leagues Autograph Guide.
- I got this book because I collect autographs, but I enjoyed reading the book for the short bio written about each player. It's easy to read all about the famous Negro Leaguers, but in this book you can learn a lot about some of the lesser known, but very good players. I think this book is great for both autograph and baseball history buffs.
- This book was a delight to read and will be a great reference in the future. The authors did a thorough, scholarly research effort and it shows in the quality of the information in the book. Though the focus is on autographs, I felt the background on the players and other history was worth the price of the book alone. A must for autograph collectors and of great value to anyone interested in the Negro Leagues of American baseball history. Congrats to the authors on an outstanding job!
- The book not only gives you a run down of the players career and their history but shares with the reader the variations in the signature that transpired from playing days to reunion times. Gives a scarcity report on the autograph besides the price range value. Superb reading!!

4 comments about Professional Wrestling Collectibles.
- Overall, a very well researched book by Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe. This book does not cover all wrestling collectibles, that would be impossible, however, it does give the collector a good idea of the many areas in wrestling that are out there to collect, although they do have a very in-depth coverage of the action figures and autographs.
The book also covers some of the history of wrestling and is a great book for novices and long-time collectors. There are great photos of some of the older collectibles that I have only heard about. My favorite chapters were the ones on the action figures, trading cards and autographs, which make up a large part of my 15+ year collection. The prices listed are average, however, the value of the items in this market change so rapidly, that its hard to give a set value on some items. 5 stars to Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe for tackling such a huge task.
- Pro Wrestling Collectibles is certainly what this book is all about. Its all the other stuff covered that makes this book so interesting. My favorite chapter is number two (2) "Some Superstars Worth Collecting". The history about many of these wrestlers can be found no where else. The authors did a great job in organizing this "collectible" and putting every thing into perspective. Recommended reading for all wrestling fans!
- The book provided terrific reference material and continually captured my attention from page to page. The pictures added tremendous detail. The author clearly did his homework.
- This is a good book filled with lots of pictures and information. It is a good book for anyone but for the hardcore collector it does not cut it. Aloso the prices are a bit off on certain items. Overall the pictures make it a worthy purchase. Reccommended!

1 comments about Tuff Stuff's Baseball Postcard Collection.
- If you love baseball and postcards, you have found the perfect book. Ron Menchine -- the last voice of the now gone but never forogoten Washington Senators -- has put together a delight for the mind and the eye. Not only does he show some of the hardest-to-find and beautiful baseball postcards, but his commentary on the history backing them up is as good as it gets. He knows the game -- and loves it. And it shows. What particularly caught my attention was the commentary and photos of the early 20th Century postcards, not often seen at shows or in collection. If you're looking for a comprehensive checklist book of baseball postcards through the decades this is not it. It does have some values. It is meant to be an ode to baseball and postcards -- and that is more than enough. An outstanding book that will bring many memorables hours looking, reading and remembers. Thanks, Ron, for the treat.
