3 comments about Flying Lessons: On the Wings of Parkinson's Disease.

  1. I found this book to be inspiring for anyone suffering from Parkinsons. Joan Grady-Fitchett the author has done an excellent job of relating to the reader the gamut of emotions involved in the diagnosis of Parkinsons. Her strong mental attitude and determination should inspire others to do the same. The book also gives important information on doctors to contact and the success and failure of her medications and treatments.

  2. Fighting the challanges of Parkinson's Disease, sometimes winning, sometimes losing; along with general living experiences made this book an informative and enjoyable read for me. However, it ended too soon. Did she have the surgery and what were the results?

  3. An amazing woman fights the little and big things that are no longer familiar. This disease, this invader, is slowing crashing her body. All she has left is spirit and persistence, but these are powerful. Joan's writing is tight and moving. It takes you along with her from the top of success in professional modeling. From anger. Through realization and fear. Through lovers and pain, and to rest of her life. The reader will come away a little smarter, a lot braver, and a little less a victim in their own life.

  1. This is a wonderful book and after reading it I really want to be involved in my medical healthcare. The guide to good medical care in the back of the book is great when you are finding a doctor or having a procedure done.

I was amazed what this family went through because of human errors that were covered up. Claiming God's promises was the only way they could survive. A MUST READ for everyone. We need to know about malpractice because it can happen to everyone.

1 comments about Invincible Spirits: Jonathan's Journey.

  1. I started to read the book and was in tears for the 1st couple of chapters. I am the proud grandmother of a Special little boy with Downs called Daniel. He is a gift and the whole family are humbled at being chosen to share his life.

After reading the book for a while I suddenly had one of those ahah moments when I realised I had seen this family so often on my drips between Durban and Johannesburg. I often see a lovely Downs boy and his mother with the missing lower part of her arm - I peep out of the corner of my eye and marvel at how the young boy makes sure that the bags are collected and put on the trolley at the airport.

I hope I can pluck up the courage next time I bump into them and say hello - I know that we always prefer when people come over and chat to us rather than just give us odd looks.

We are very proud of Daniel and will encourage him to do all he wants to do in life. He is only 18 months but is doing so well and we marvel at his every achievement.

Thanks for your Book Mrs Wickens and thanks for sharing your private moments and thoughts - They really do help it all make sense

    Jann

    And a Kiss for Jonathan
