1 comments about NIALL QUINN: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY..

  1. Having watched most of his playing days i knew he was a guy or great integrity, and reading the book has only further enforced that belief. He is a humble guy who lives a life that many hard working middle class guys do, only he has money. Niall is a classy guy, who knows how to enjoy life, but also tries to help people. A model citizen and a sporting role model that kids can look up to.

2 comments about THE WRIGHT STUFF: AN UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF IAN WRIGHT.

  1. Ian Wright is not like any other Footballer. Ian Wright more than loves the Game, he is the Game. This book is full of real emotion. Cliché as it may seem, this book is of a man that has and scores goals to fulfill his dream. It is supurbly written. Ian really talks to you! The most sensational read about an undescribable talent. Treat yourself to this book

IAN WRIGHT IS FOOTBALL! IAN WRIGHT IS THE MAN !

  2. Capturing Ian Wright on paper is no mean feat. Ghost-written though this may be, it is so open, genuine and believable it made no difference. This is such an unashamedly blatant account of the highs and lows of a thus far glittering career as a footballer, and more importantly, a person. This book provides a clear insight into just how much there is behind the showman who also doubles as one of Englands' greatest (ever) strikers. You'll, as I did, finish it in no time.

2 comments about Wenger: The Making of a Legend.

  1. This is a superb and very readable book about Arsenal's legendary manager Arsene Wenger. The sub-title of the book accurately captures what this book is about. It delves into the people and experiences that have shaped Wenger's personality. The author has painstakingly interviewed some of the key personalities that have both influenced and been influenced by Wenger. The book also gives us insights about the network of people surrounding Wenger such as colleagues, coaches, managers - both past and present.

The author does succeed, to a great extent, in explaining some of the key impressions we have of Wenger - a person who is disciplined, has a high integrity and with 'ice' exterior.

Less is known about Wenger's personal life - which is repeatedly caricatured as a football video addict in this book. Perhaps, an interview with Wenger or an autobiography may provide a more nuanced and balanced portrayal of hum in the future. Hopefully, the author will updated the book in the future to include recent events - Viera's departure and the rebuilding of the first team, the Champions League Final in 2006 and of course, the Emirates Stadium.

This book is highly recommended for all football (soccer) fans (who are curious about Wenger) and in particular, Arsenal fans who are intrigued by his personality but find current media reports sufficient. I think the book would also appeal to football historians and aspiring football managers.
