3 comments about Rodin (World of Art).
- A beautifully prepared work. Well written, with stunning black and white pohotos of Rodin's major works. The writing is very elegant, yet simple and elegant. A must for any collector or any one interested in Rodin.
- This book was definitely informative and complete. But what I found most compelling about it was the author's poetic tone. It was refreshing to be so enchanted by a biography; sometimes they can be awfully dry. The subject of Rodin and his work is, of course, irresistable. But, I really felt this book was a page turner because of the eloquent writing.
- Champigneulle's RODIN is a very informative, chronological account of Rodin's life as an artist, packed with an excellent selection of plates illustrating his work. The text is clearly presented, well-organized and very well supported by well-placed illustrations.

2 comments about Origami Paper Airplanes.
- I'm not sure why you'd buy this book if you didn't want to fold airplanes!
It's a great book, suitable for beginners, containing excellent airplanes to throw at your siblings and colleagues. The diagrams are easy to follow and everybody should be able to them
- We borrowed this book from the library, and my 9-year-old son and I have had a blast folding and flying the airplanes. Most of them have taken off with no problems and have proven to be awesome flyers. One or two models have been a bit of a challenge to fold, but we simply started over and tried again!
The instructions in the book are clear and simple -- simple enough for my 9-year-old to fold on his own, as a matter of fact. I recommend practicing the introductory folds in the front of the book in order to prepare yourself for take-off. For paper, we've been recycling old catalogs and magazines and have some very colorful models flying around our house!
We ended up taking this book to a family reunion with us, and all of the kids had a blast folding and flying their airplanes. It was a great way for long lost cousins to spend some time together and get to know each other again!

1 comments about Woodcarving the Nativity in the Folk Art Style: Step-by-Step Instructions and Patterns for a 15-Piece Manger Scene.
- Have carved several of the figures and am getting better with each one. The instructions are easy to follow. Only drawback is there are only instructions for Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. Some of the other figures can be made by following Josephs instructions Overall the book is worth the money

3 comments about Old Time Whittling: An Introductory Text.
- First, be prepared for a very SMALL book, a pamphlet really, when this arrives. I was upset upon opening the package to see a $12 brochure.
However, The writing style is easy to read, encouraging, with clear instructions on performing the projects. I felt like I was in the room with the author as he guided me through the projects. The pictures are excellent but some important "transition" pictures were missing; I am able to follow along but a few extra shots would have helped quite a bit. Also, in the beginning of the book it says you can do all the projects with a single knife but as you advance additional tools are recommended. A list at the beginning of the project would help here. As a complete newcomer to whittling, I am happy with the level of instruction and the "you can do it" feel of the book but for $12 more photos and a little better editing is expected.
- The author showed each step in simple pictures that assured me that I was performing each operation correctly. I completed the first three projects in the book my first weekend. I've moved on to bigger and better projects, but I know I couldn't have done it without the confidence I gained using this text.
- The book, as shown by the cover, has some ambitious projects. But there's just the simple basics in it of how to actually do them making a rank novice like me very nervous.

1 comments about The Human Form in Clay.
- I expected this book to offer me assistance in building human forms in clay; that's why I give this book a 4. Instead of advice, I got a gallery book of less-than-realistic art pieces (histories of ceramicists) by: Viola Frey, Akio Takamori, and Luo Xiaoping, among others. I kept the book for what it is. For a how-to-book, I recommend PORTRAIT SCULPTING, ANATOMY & EXPRESSIONS IN CLAY by Philippe & Charisse Faraut.

1 comments about How to Create Tree Sculpture: TEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FULLY ILLUSTRATED.
- I was afraid it was too good to be true: a $10 book on how to create unique wire tree sculptures? But this book turned out to be well worth it. It's written well and has good illustrations showing step-by-step directions for making the trees. Definitely recommended if you have an interest in this and the reasonable price makes it that much better!

5 comments about Color on Metal: 50 Artists Share Insights and Techniques.
- I love everything that Tim McCreight has written. However, I wish I had read this title more thoroughly. I am a beginner in metal and was looking for a book to give me recipes for Patinas. This did not. It may help me later on after I have developed more skills.
- First off ,I agree totaly with david barnetts views.its a insight book .Just read the title and it says what the book is all about. To me it shows what can be done and whom has done it.Grant you id love to see in the book a way to contact the artists. As a artist IMHO its sometimes very helpfull to see what can be done in order to open up my mind to new ideas.Tim does have some very helpful information in the front..I have not seen a book of Tim McCreight's that i have not liked very much as I have learned alot from..I have bought many of Tim's books as they are done very well....
I would love to see a more complex book from him on how to do anodizing of niobium and titanium, the ins and out and useage of anodizers.how to paint and do all the tricky stuff as i feel he can do..
- This book gave me a lot a great techniques and insights into coloring metals!
- 50 artists share insights but the techniques seem to be limited to a brief explanation and a footnote at the bottom of a picture listing the material used. While many of the photos are great examples of what "can" be done with color, you won't be finding out "how" with this book. But hey, you will get to read 50 esoteric explanations of abstract principals, the kind that artists throw in their bios to make their work seem more interesting than it really is. As a coffee table book it's fine but the useable information is extremely limited.
- This is a great book for the coffee table. It has lots of beautiful color pictures with a brief history of the artist and the piece in the photo but if you are looking for ideas with detailed information on how to color metal using mediums other than paint, don't waste your time or money.

5 comments about Art of Annemieke Mein: Wildlife Artist in Textiles.
- I was completely over the moon when I looked at the pictures in this book. Never knew how beautiful freemotion embroidery can be. I often see quilts that are a bit "common", but I like the special effects that Annemieke (my namesake) can make with thread, adorable book!
- This is one of the most incredible books that I have seen. The artwork is phenomenal. This is book not only qualifies as an instructional guide but as a coffee table book. It is a feast for the eyes.
- The artwork is gorgeous, the layout and design stunning. One of the most beautiful art books I own.
- Absolutely stunning work using fibers, paint and fabric...plus an eye for nature. This artist is amazing and dedicated to her craft. I would love to see what she is doing now as this book shows her development of this unique style...one that is truly hers...up to the late 1980s to early 1990s. I consider this a beautiful addition to my high end coffee table books and my friends who visit agree. Classic.
- What inspired me most in this book was the fact that the artist works with a very old and simple sewing machine, and she manages to create some of the most unique quilts I have seen. I could spend hours and hours just looking at the photos. The subject matter is highly realistic, and has a lot of butterflies, moths, birds, and other wildlife. I would recommend this book as an excellent gift for yourself or for a really good friend.
