1. In 1985 as i write this book "Reptile Diseases", it was a first in this kind, right. It was written for hobby herpetologist people. To start within for better understanding and resque for this kind of animals. A helpness as they are in private terrariums. So know after I,m back from over 10 years expeditions in the whole world, I have to explain and to write down a lot of new experiance incase by Reptiles and Amphipiens.I start this work as herpetologist in 1967 and know i now, i have a wide experience taken, to write all news down again. 2. In 1990 when this book was translated into English, it may have been a leading book on reptile diseases. Now in 2001, it is severely outdated. Quite a bit of information given is incorrect (ex: vitamins only needed once every 3 months, the only solution for dystocia is surgery, etc). Also, very little information is even given as to individual diseases. In summary, don't waste your time or your money on this book. Look for a more modern book with more information.

1. The information in this book would be good for someone who has never owned any kind of fish before, but it is all very basic. Not alot on guppies in particular, really. It has lots of pictures, but rarely tells you what they are of, such as what the color is called, etc. It is long-winded and goes on and on about most subjects. I have never owned guppies, but do have other fish, and I found it to be boring, and I really didn't learn a thing.

   I can see why it is out of print...

1. You could write much more extensive book about gouramies and bettas easily. I would have wanted to see much more pictures and more specific information about species. This book isn't bad but it could be much better too.



2. It is concise which is fine and in the beginning has general information that applies not only to Gouramies. Then it describes the various species but there is not enough data about the behavior of each of the species and also not enough information on how to breed.

1. This book has few pictures but good coverage on care for each type of frog. The author spends two chapters describing his expeditions to Panama and Fr. Guiana. He BRIEFLY discusses how to build and outfit a terrarium (vivarium), diseases and breeding. The last half of the book discusses each species individually. He gives a description, outlines distribution-habitat in the wild, lists optimum temperature and vivarium size, and gives detailed information on their breeding habits and care of tads. I would have liked more focus on caring for the frogs and less on breeding them and seeing them in the wild. Otherwise, good reference book.



2. I have read several books on dart frogs and the set-up of this is ideal for an intermediate frog owner as well as the beginner. Branching off sections on: genus, species, general care, food, temp. setting, cage set-up, and difficulty of captive care; you should be more than ready to start your first set-up( of course only with the suggested beginning frogs) or continue your knowledge of these beautiful creatures. I keep frogs myself and feel this book would be wise to read if you plan to care for any poison frog as long as their life span should be.



3. This book is great for beginners, covering natural history, terrarium construction, live food culture and individual species requirements. The very nice photographs make it a wish list for frog keepers.
