4 comments about The Encyclopedia of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles.
- This is the only Pepsi guide book that I have, and I'm not real happy with it. It is inadequate, hardly scratching the surface of all the Pepsi collectibles out there.
As with most other collectibles guides, the back index leaves much to be desired. I guess the author agrees because he omitted it completely. Big mistake. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of Pepsi guides out there, like there are for Coke. But that doesn't mean this one is the "bible" of Pepsi collecting; it doesn't come close. I'm hard-pressed to figure out why others have written such glowing reviews for it. It's pretty, but it's incomplete, the prices are all over the map, there's no back index...but there's very little competition.
- A very nice reference book and worth the money for collectors or fans of Pepsi.
- The Encyclopedia Of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles is an amazing resource for collectors and dealers. Nearly the entire book is devoted to full color photographs of everything ever made by or associated with Pepsi-Cola, from slogans and trademarks to containers, cardboard inserts, cans, bottles, caps, a wide array of merchandise and much more. Offer a wealth of historical and background information on the Pepsi-Cola bottling company, along with authoritative and reliable price estimates for Pepsi-Cola collectibles, The Encyclopedia Of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles is a superbly presented and essential guide for the dedicated Pepsi-Cola enthusiasts!
- A brand new, year 2002, hard-bound library volume containing 256 pages with more than 2,000 large, full color, sharp photos of every type of Pepsi collectible. Current values are shown. Items are listed by category, including signs, containers, novelties, toys and accessories and paper items. Sufficient text is included, covering Pepsi Collectibles, Reference Guide, History of Pepsi, History of Pepsi Trademerks and Advertising Slogans. I found the "Paper Items" section particularly interesting. Add it to your library.

5 comments about 20th Century Costume Jewelry: 1900 - 1980 Identification & Value Guide (Identification & Values (Collector Books)).
- This book would have benefitted from a lot more research and from inclusion of pieces other than the personal collection of Ms. Aikins and her mother. There are numerous incorrect dates - the most glaring of which consist of labelling aurora borealis pieces as being from the 40's or even 30's when the process didn't exist until about 1953. The descriptions are too "cutesy" rather than factual - ex labelling yellow and black pieces "for Steelers fans" and elephants "for Republicans." Some necklaces are measured by hanging length, others apparently by total length. The list goes on and on. It certainly would be a bad choice for a beginner to rely on, and a more seasoned collector would find it maddening. Give this one a pass.
- Jewelry can be an ideal addition to any outfit to add class, and "20th Century Costume Jewelry: Second Edition Identification & Value Guide" is a complete and comprehensive guidebook for anyone who is collecting these kinds of pieces for their own personal use or simply as a hobby. Filled cover to cover with full cover photos, descriptions of each piece, information on rarity, price, and so much more, "20th Century Costume Jewelry: Second Edition Identification & Value Guide" is a must for any hobbyist collector or community library collection catering to them.
- I recieved this book today, and for the first time ever, I am returning a book to Amazon. I was expecting beautiful Jewelry from the 1900's onwards. What is in the book, is 15 pages of AB glass necklaces, umpteen pins/brooches necklaces etc that I would have bypassed at a yard sale, not to mention many pages pages of low quality pieces with HUGE unrealistic valuation prices. Very misleading for a novice collector, they will think that a cheesy 10 year old christmas bell brooch is really worth over $80! No war time sterling, no quality Trifari,Coro, Boucher, Mazer etc. I don't wish to sound mean but in this day and age of umpteen Jewelry books being published these ladies really need to up their game to a much higher standard. Save your money, DO NOT BUY.
- Thank you Amazon for offering this wonderful book. I plan to spend a lot of time with it.
It has been very helpful and the price is well worth it.
Thank You,sanklo.
- I have to disagree with the other review about the value guides in this book, these guides are exactly on what they do sell for on Ruby lane or ebay. This is one of the lesser assigned value guide books I own.
I found this book very good for my research and although the photographs are a little less than I expected, they show the item well enough there are only a few that look less than professional.
The book released in 2005 reflects current pricing and value. I do not understand how the other reviewer said they were grossly off?? The market changes, one year a necklace will sell for 200.00 the next year perhaps 100.00, with the gas issue and the war the higher value guide book frankly are a bit off. This book I feel is more on value then the others.. The AB crystal necklace section I did find a bit high on the values though..That is about the only part I agree on with the other reviewer.
The values given in collection books usually are used for insurance and not for actual sale.. This si why they are usually higher than what they would sell for on the market.
That is why you find such a difference in pricing..
Your best bet is to watch ebay and ruby lane for current pricing on an item and what they actually sell for. But keep in mind that there has been a lull in costume jewelry that should pick up real soon but who knows as the war continues and gas prices climb to 4.00+.. (yikes)
Use these books to estimate the value, this is a range to use not a written in stone on top of a mountain rule as are all collector books!
I suggest getting this book because it does have a large assortment of different types of jewelry as well as compacts and belts.
What I didn't like about it is that it is not in any kind of real order. Also there was a marked lack of Juliana jewelry. There is no information about the makers, only photo value and description. However, I use other books for that. I got this book because I wanted to see a varity of items not just Trifari, Coro.. etc.
Still a good book to own because there is a lot of unusual signed and unsigned jewelry in it.

4 comments about World Notgeld, 1914-1947: A Guide & Checklist and Other Local Issue Emergency Money.
- Very good book of german notgeld, other countries are listed, very fews pictures of other countries
- This book says it all in the title, except I'm not sure what they mean by guide. There is a short introduction of the author blah, blah... The notgeld is listed and easy enough to find but no information, like engraver/artist, where it was pressed, how many were made or how many in circulation, in fact it tells you nothing (and most do not not photos) except there is a general/vague 1-7 scale of rarity with no pricing or suggest value. this was merely a checklist.
- An excellent reference to all kinds of Notgeld from many countries.
Table of Contents
* Introduction
* Issuing Cities: Alphabetical by Countries
* Periodical Abbreviations
* Bibliography
* Country Abbreviations
* Issuing Cities Alphabetical
The introduction gives a fairly thorough explanation of Notgeld in English and German. The book is designed as a checklist with a box to mark off as you find what you want. It makes no pretence to pricing. The Bibliography is extensive enough to be worth the book alone.
- This guide contains a list of emergency money issuing authorities, mainly cities. The reader will see many images, some of them in color, to have an idea of how interesting collecting emergency money may be and will have access to a bibliography which may help to search for a more comprehensive information.

4 comments about PEZ: Warman's Companion.
- My sons collect Pez dispensers. They are 3 & 5! They love this book (which we purchased on Amazon after checking it outof the library-we loved it so much, we had to own it!) I frequently will find even my 3 year old just sitting & looking at this book. He likes to show which Pez "expensers" he has, and point out which he would ike to have! Great book, well illustrated, fun for kids & parents, too!
- The Good - there are lots of nice pictures of pez. The bad - good luck finding specific pez, or a real list of pez, because the organization is bad and the index is a joke. Sometimes pez are listed in groups (i.e. to find Olive Oil, look under "Popeye"), sometimes individually (Peter Pan and Captain Hook are in different places), sometimes (frustratingly) it is BOTH, with no cross references. For example, the Disney are not grouped - Donald Duck is seperate from Micky Mouse, BUT the "Disney Extreme" series pez are in their own group (confusingly named "Micky Mouse Extreme" and filed under M) and those pez are NOT found on the Micky, Donald, Goofy pages (and looking up Donald Duck in the index will NOT lead you to the "extreme" Donald on that page).
The groups (or non-groups) appear to be chosen at random, and then later more groups and non-groups were added to this addition of the book somewhere close to the spot they could go (without checking the old edition or updating it). This can be seen by the fact that the book is only somewhat in alphabetical order - somehow "Mimic the Monkey" ended up between "Micky Mouse" and "Micky Mouse Extreme". The upshoot of all this is if you want to just look at lots of pictures of pez, the book is good. If you want to see a particular pez, you might be able to find it - or you might not (even if it is hidden somewhere within). If you want to see all the versions of a particular pez, forget it - they may be strung throughout the book in multiple locations (if they are in there at all).
- Thiis very descriptive and information Pez book serves as a great visual guide to what is out there in the world of Pez. The photographs are very true to color and clear--an important aspect. I have made reference to it already on several occasions.
- Pez books are getting better and better. Still leave out a lot of info not covered. But a good help book to new collectors. Cover no Japanese pez at all, and little foreign pez.Would like to see more of encyclopedia try book on pez.

5 comments about Antiques Price Guide 2007 (Antiques Price Guide).
- The guide has a lot of pictures and very little in description of the items. Nothing on the era that I was looking for. Wish I had gone to the bookstore and looked at it first.
- I was disappointed with this book, it doesn't show different examples of the same company. Too many item from other parts of the world, not enough from the USA... This book is more of a picture guide. Not enough detail. I'm not impressed.
- this whole series is an invaluable resource for the novice or serious antique collector....and this seller is a+
- I bought this book for my step-Father who uses it to scout auctions. It's a great resource to have on hand for antiquers!
- I have everyone of Juidith guides. They are a great "American" Antique guide to have. Professional ediiton for the serious antique collector or dealer. It worth the money and get research value.

3 comments about Classic Hunting Collectibles: Identification & Price Guide.
- "Classic Hunting Collectibles: Identification & Price Guide" is an excellent and much overdo work in the field of sporting collectibles. The images are in color and covers a vast number of the most desired items sought by collectors. It is a must for any collector and/or hunting/fishing enthusiast.
- Knowing author Hal Boggess, I know his knowledge is second to none in the field of hunting collectibles. The photographs are just super and the price of the book is very reasonable. Books in this same field sell for double or triple the price and not nearly as well written as Mr. Boggess.
All photographs are in COLOR. Amazing. This is just what we in the sporting collectible field need. I have read this book over and over. This is just the book needed by the hunting collectible community.
His current listed item values is certainly in line with the current sporting collectible market. The values are listed below each of over 1100 color photographs.
- The book is well planned and organized and does an excellent job revealing Mr. Boggess' knowledge of hunting collectibles. Expert photography in combination with high grade paper stock do an outstanding job of detailing the presentations for easy identification. What a great combination if there were a follow-up book highlighting fishing collectibles!
