5 comments about A Guide Book Of United States Paper Money: Complete Source for History, Grading, and Prices (Official Red Book) (Official Red Book).

  1. It's been many years since I've had this book. All of my expectations were satisfied. This book has been the "Bible" for US Paper money as long as I can remember. If you want to understand grading, pricing, or just want to learn about an important piece of American history, its worth the money.

  2. I found this book to be very informative & an important book for any collecter/history buff.

  3. This book has been so helpful in my collecting quests. I spent about an hour in Borders trying to find a book that gives values of modern as well as old currency for ranges up to Unc-63. It provides all the necessary information (such as signatures, series, quantity printed) for almost all bills and has a nice informative section as well. It gives price points that help you place a bid on valuable bills. This helps all collectors, experienced or not. I highly recommend this book.

  4. This is good book about our money and is very educational.
    Well worth the price.

  5. This book provides comprehensive and useful information. The valuations cover different seals, mints, signatures, and star notes. The book also includes some information about the history of each note. It is easy to find information and lookup valuations. The only negative is the black & white photos make it a little harder to distinguish between different seal colors when looking up info.

5 comments about Coin Collecting For Dummies (For Dummies (Sports & Hobbies)).

  1. Hello , Covers all the basics quite nicely , easy to read and understand. I would strongly suggest you read this book and at least one other on your specific interest before you spend a dime on coins.

  2. Good information for someone like myself who is just getting started in coin collecting. Would be too general for someone who is a bit more experienced. No buyer's remorse here!

  3. This is a great book if you want to learn the ins and outs of a big time coin dealer/collector...mostly buying and selling.. I'm more into Collecting and learning about diffrent error coins.

    "TR"

  4. This was purchased as a gift and appears to be a great reference book for the beginning coin collector.

  5. I purchased this book for my nephew who showed an interest in coin collecting. I started reading it before giving it to him and I learned a lot! It was written in a straight-forward method, clear concise. (I gave it to him a week later)

5 comments about Standard Catalog of Firearms 2007: The Collectors Price And Reference Guide (Standard Catalog of Firearms).

  1. This 2007 edition has been updated very nicely. Lots more information than previously. A few illustrations could be updated to match current knowledge of the product. This shortcoming is unavoidable as the information might not have been known at time of publishing. We look forward to such updates being included in its next printing. Overall, the book has been greatly improved in appearance and "readability." It's a MUST HAVE for all who are interested in historical firearms.

  2. Not as updated as it would have you believe but still a good reference if you don't already own an earlier version and it does have a lot of photos.

  3. While not the end all of reference guides, when used in combination with other reference guides the book is very useful. The pictures have proven to be invaluable for identifying a certain model or type of firearm.

  4. Very useful and full of information. We buy a new book every year to keep up with the pricing, but also to see how our investments have done!!

  5. I have purchased this book since they started publishing it. I collect guns and this is a great pricing guide. This issue is a little below the standards of previous years. They seem to have changed some subtle things that won't affect the first time buyer but for the perpetual purchaser are disappointing.

5 comments about 2008 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards.

  1. WORTH EVERY CENT, ...AFTER PURCHASING ALOT OF OTHER BOOKS WHICH GOT ME NO WHERE, I JUST PURCHASED THIS ONE, THIS LISTS ALL SUB CATERGORIES WHICH IS EXCELLENT..MOST BOOKS DON'T..........REAL GOOD INVESTMENT.....THIS IS LIKE THE BIBLE OF BASEBALL CARDS...BECKETT BOOK IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!! SHIPPING WAS FANTASTIC.!!!!!!

  2. This is "almost excellent" Encyclopedia of Baseball cards and price guide. Its physical size and the enormous volume of information gathered and updated every year makes this book indispensable it's a must and certainly has its place in my/our/your library.
The total number of pages 1848 and the number of entries is Ginormous. Due to the scope of researched necessary to put this fantastic guide book the "Standard Catalog Of Baseball Cards" year after year by professionals the best in the field is one the reasons amateurs and expert professionals in the field use this as their primary tool for research and investigation about anything concerning Baseball Cards throughout history.
If you are a beginner buy it soon, before it is divided into separate volumes as KRAUSE has done with other guide books.
The reason I gave [4] ]FOUR STARS instead of five is simple, although better than "The Official Beckett Price Guide to Baseball Cards" it has similar shortcomings as their other Krause guides, complete sections of information are missing and generally not fixed by the following year guide, incorrect or missing a few details, some description, and does pesky prices.
Regarding prices use this and any other price guide must be used with the understanding that prices in all collectible items, specially does that investors and speculators are involved fluctuate daily, if you have followed any kind of auction you probably have noticed when 2, 3, or more of the same items and condition sell for different prices sometimes with significant differences. Collecting Antiques, Sport Cards, or Coins among others is a fine hobie worthy of the best help when available. Good luck.

    See my other guides.

  3. As I stated in my incipit this is a monster guide for me! it's a huge helping hand for me, as I am new in collecting trading cards on baseball! I began some months ago and till today I own 10,000 cards circa; and day by day I begin to understand what I have in my hands...a piece of American sport history and this thanks to Don Flukinger and his guide!
I will for sure continue to follow from this side of world (I'm italian by the way) this great American sport!

  4. It's difficult to locate cards in this guide and not as complete as I expected.

  5. Very fast shipping, product arrive in excellent shape, and complete. I will shop this vendor again.

5 comments about Florence's Glassware Pattern Identification Guide: Easy Identification for Glassware from the 1920s Through the 1960s.

  1. Was a good book, but if you already have guide 1,2, or 3 it was mostly repeats with different picture views. If this is your first guide it is a great one!!

  2. For a collector, this book lacks many of the patterns, needed to know, in pricing a product. Some of the patterns pictured are not defined enough. A
magnifying glass may be needed for a closer look. For beginners, it is a respected book, written by two experts.

  3. I was a bit disappointed in this book mainly because of the way in which it was set up. I am used to their other books such as: "Collectible Glassware from the 40s, 50, 60s". I didn't find it as easy to navigate. The pictures are great though.

  4. The book was very helpful, great photos, nicely laid out. Buyers should definately know, however, that it is a book of more rare pieces.

  5. The drawings and pictures were so helpful when I was trying to identify glassware. It's a keeper.

5 comments about Presidential Dollars Collectors Folder.

  1. This folder is much nicer than the state quarter folder that I have. Good, short descriptions about each president.

  2. This was a Christmas President for my husband who started collecting the President Dollars. He was very pleased with the product.

  3. Presidential Dollars Collectors Folder Colorful, was a little dissappointed that not all the Presidents were listed, and there wasn't enough room for future Presidents.

  4. The local stores were all out of these & I have started a collection for all of the children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. I'm SO glad Amazon had them!

  5. Nice quality, but only has slots for one mint. If your collecting both "P" & "D" coins and want one folder, buy the one from Sterling Publishing.

5 comments about Blue Book of Gun Values.

  1. Great book at a great price. Very informative. A must for any collector or hobbiest.

  2. For many years (35) I have relied on this book as a guide to firearms values. It is the most complete gun guide published.
Robert Caselnova, FFL, owner Cas Firearms

  3. This is the standard for gun values. It is the one I see used by the dealers at all the gunshows. While it is not perfect, it is a the most information I have ever seen about gun values in one place. Some information may be in error, but given the sheer volume of entries, the errors are minor. I have been studying guns for over thirty-five years, and was amazed at how many guns and makers were listed that I had never heard of. Buy this one if you want to get fair value in your gun deals.

  4. I guess they were in a time crunch. This book doesn't have all guns in their value. I have three gun not in the book how many more are missing? I say do your job!

  5. Updated and informative reference on gun values. Extensive listings. With many changes in the firearms industry nothing can be completely current; however, this book is as close as you will get.

5 comments about The Official Price Guide to Records 18th Edition (Official Price Guide to Records).

  1. Several years ago I bought Osbourne's 2001 guide to records and I couldn't have been more pleased. So when it was time to update the guide I was a loyal consumer and bought the newest edition. Too my suprise, many of the listings in the 2001 guide are missing and a lot of popular and valuable records aren't in the new guide at all. You've heard the phrase 'less is more'? Well in this case less is less. I can't recommend anyone buy this guide since even novice collectors will find huge gaps in 18th edition of 'Offical Price Guide to Records'.

  2. This book is by one of the best music collectors in the business. I bought it as a reference guide for a future music store I want to start, as well as a general guide for my personal collection. Their are more detailed guides, at much greater prices, so this is great for the beginner and just general information. Highly recommend.

  3. Jerry Osborne continues to provide the best and most unbiased price guide in record collecting. He started in 1974 and remains the authority. There's no hidden agenda here. If you're buying just one record price guide, THIS IS IT.

  4. This is a another in a long line of great Record reviews and price guides. WE use it every day in our little record (antique) business. We sell vinyl in downtown Kalamazoo. Thanks!

  5. No single record price book provides everything a guy wants but Jerry Osborne consistently comes closer than anyone else. Highly recommended!

5 comments about Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide 2007 (Antique Trader Antiques and Collectibles Price Guide).

  1. This book is chuck full of antigues with prices and pictures, I highly recommend it!!!

  2. The 2007 Edition of Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide is superb. Filled with gorgeous color photography and to the point descriptions, this modern guide has become a leader in the field. I highly recommend that you add this guide to your library without delay!

  3. The weighty yet portable Antique Trader guide Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide 2007 may not fit in a jacket pocket but it will easily be a take-along to any garage sale or flea market for avid collectors. Public libraries strong in collectibles price guides and private collectors alike will find this annual reference follows the market, offering up the latest prices and some 5,000 new color photos and upgrades to this latest edition.

  4. As always a useful reference for the collector. My wife and I buy and sell glassware as well as other small collectibles and antiques and find this to be one of the more useful general guides for pricing and identifying a range of items.

  5. This book works well to get a general idea of the value of items, but it has some bare spots. They cover some items in great detail and others in very general terms.

I would have liked it better if there was more discussion about what causes the variation in prices of certain categories.
