1. This book is more than just a price book. It uses a series of questions to help you nail down just what you are looking at. In the BASICS section you find the different ingredients in Water-glass, Soda glass, Potash glass, and lead crystal. The book is small enough that I carry this with me.

   Some of the highlights are:

   Deals with fakes, copies, condition and other factors that may confuse even experienced collectors

1. If you're into the antiques of the Old West, this is the one book to have. It's beautiful and comprehensive.WORTH EVERY PENNY. Highest recommendation.



2. This five pound coffee-table book is clearly the best ever done on the subject. Tons of beautiful color photos and lots of information on just about anything relating to the Old West. Spurs, saddles, guns, saloons and much more. Well worth the price.

1. Up dates her other WGC books. 32 pages in black and White. Most easy to identify. Has grading system for availability and values on every piece. A must for collector, either buying or selling. I don'y know how I ever got along without it!!

1. This book is beautiful - hundreds of full colour photographs and descriptions on transistor radios in all shapes and sizes from advertising/product shaped radios to robots. A must-read for those who love to collect novelty radios and need to know what the value is on them.

1. This book allows you to have a trip to "the world of Teddy Bear". The book is filled with many different styles, design and personalities of teddy bear, a lot of ideas will come out after reading it(as I like to make teddy bear by myself). Although there is no step in making the teddy bears, you will be impressed by the arts of teddy bear! This is really a good encyclopedia for you to have a look on the teddy bear world, just like to have a look on all kinds of people over the world.

1. To try to fit all the Baby Boomer dolls in one book would be impossible. This book gives a good overview about dolls from this time. Good pictures, lots of company info. In its second printing so that should say something right there. My favorites were the TV related dolls like Jeannie and Pebbles and Bamm Bamm.



2. This was strong on Terri Lee dolls (9 pages) and on Mattel (13 pages). Though 16 pages were devoted to Madame Alexander, I felt that just two small pictures of "Cissy" were not enough; and there were no pictures of the Winnie or Binnie Walker dolls. Most of the MA coverage was of the child-dolls and Alexanderkins.
   There were only two pages devoted to "Ginny"--and there were no pictures of Ginny with painted eyes, molded lashes, or bent knees. All were of the painted-lash version.
   Karl offers less than 1 column (about 100 words!) on the prolific and highly collectible Virga dolls, offering no pictures at all.
   The quality of the pictures is excellent, and this is a nicely produced book. But I feel that it does not offer full enough coverage, especially of the hard plastic dolls of the 1950s, to be considered a comprehensive guide.



3. If you collect dolls of the 50s and 60s you should buy this book. It has hundreds of full color photos with descriptions and prices. It's a great reference guide. I enjoyed looking at so many of the dolls I grew up with.

1. This is a must have for those wishing to find out more about styles, techniques, and materials. The book is written cearly and those not familiar with art will find it easy to understand.

   Anyone taking an art course of some kind will find this book very helpful. Those wishing to workin in a museum with art objects would find this book very helpful too. And finally, people who love antique hunting should use this as a reference.




2. Found this at the library and it was just what I was looking for. An easy to understand reference for terms used about antiques and collectables. Each topic has Who, When, Where and What information with 3-8 paragraphs explaining the topic - the basics. A great companion for those numerous price guides that list items with terms such as Eastlake, Mission, Regency, etc. If you are just starting to learn antiques and you don't know what these and similar terms mean, this book is for you.
