5 comments about The Official Overstreet Indian Arrowheads Identification and Price Guide, 7th Edition (Official Overstreet Indian Arrowhead Identification and Price Guide).
- Since there are few references available on point types, this was added to my reference library. Disregarding the prices, for the types, descriptions, etc. I have the Texas type book also. What puzzles me is why Overstreet has listed some types for Texas, which are not covered in the current Texas book, nor any of the old books (and I have them back to the second or so book from the 1960s). Example is the Texas point type Overstreet calls Edwards. Not in any other Texas books I find. No explanation by Overstreet. Not a bad reference for types, just wish there was a better one available, more akin to the 1960s book from Texas.
- Despite the emotional opinions of some, on the whole monetary value issue, I found this book to be quite a valuable reference guide in terms of tool typing, and assessing style variations and aiding in establishing era. In fact I've not seen a more comprehensive reference guide. In addition to this being a fine guide for the collector, it is also a nice reference for the amateur or serious archeologist. I have participated in several responsible, (academic), archaeological digs and have witnessed more than one academic reference this book for regional typing purposes.
The issue of affixing value to antiquities is always subjective (and it is reality on a Global scale) I believe the author is simply providing a range of what collectors have paid for certain examples. Again, this may be useful information to some collectors, or for Museum curators in establishing the 'street' value of collections for insurance purposes.
- I bought this book to figure-out the monetary value of pot hunted artifacts, in order to change pothunters of federal and state crimes. Very informative. Thank you.
- This book and the whole collection of Overstreet guides are a unsubstantiated ruse! DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. The author seeks to mislead and misdirect the general public by putting a monetary price on human history. is the value of an artifact monetary? Can riches be made from stealing the history of the public? This book would like you to think so.
One large discrimination of this book is the fact that the prices within are set by a bunch of country yahoos sitting around a swap meet, spitting tabacky into priceless ming vases. The fact that there is little mention of the money it may cost you if you collect artifacts on public land and the fact that looting significant archaeological sites for arrowheads can land your butt in jail, is barely mentioned. Do yourself a favor, take a class in archaeology from your local junior college, pick up the Bruce Bradley video called Flintknapping or Andrefsky's lithic book from Cambridge and start making your own arrowheads. Then go to your local swap meet and sale them to dumbasses that buy this book! Remember price is only what you can get some country bumpkin to give you for an arrowhead, and looting sites on public or private land will only land you in jail, or even worse get you filled with lead from an angry landowner.
- Purchased to study projectile points. I was not disapointed with the packed information and photos on this subject. Used as well, as a price guide for collectors, I none the less use it as a reference manual. It lists point artifacts from each part of the country broken down in groups of states. It then shows most of what is common for that area as far as shapes, sizes, etc. It is a good guide for the beginner to learn both projectile shapes and nomenclature. I carry it as a supplement to other books on archaeology and prehistoric American Native studies.............

2 comments about Rookwood Pottery over Ten Years of Auction Results: 1990-2002.
- Excellent depictions of Cincinnati Rookwood vases, plus listings of sale prices and estimated values.
- Any person interested in Rookwood Pottery will find this book entrancing, both as a price guide and as an opportunity to admire great examples of Art Pottery. Of course price guides are obsolete the moment they start rolling off the presses, but the auction prices in this book will give you ballpark estimates for any similar piece you may have. Each piece of artist-produced art pottery is unique, so assigning values is difficult simply by using price guides and auction results. I bought the book because, after owning a few pieces of Rookwood throughout the years, you can't get enough. This book is great for admiring pieces of art you may never come upon in person.

3 comments about Coca-Cola Commemorative Bottles: Identification & Value Guide.
- Has a limited number of bottles - there is not as many commemorative bottles as I was expecting. I could not use it for my collection.
- Quality paperback book helps you identify and value over 800 bottles which are beautifully pictured in full life-like color. Covers 8 oz and 10 oz bottles. A brief description of the bottle accompanies each entry. Well indexed for easy locating. A useful reference book.
- This book is great to have if you are a collector of Coca-Cola bottles.Being able to see what the bottles look like is nice.

1 comments about Effanbee's Dy-Dee: The Complete Collector's Book.
- This is a great volume for anyone who had ,has, and loves Dy-Dee Baby. I was amazed at the attention paid to details like clothing and 'baby stuff'. I had a lot of baby stuff for my Dy-Dee and her cousins, but there was a whole lot more available than I ever dreamed. That so many of these dolls have survived, is a testement to Dy-Dee's ability to inspire maternal love and nurturing. It's not only a book for collectors, but also an interesting look at marketing techniques and our culture.
Robert Tonner's motto, 'Believe in the power of play' is illustrated profoundly in this volume, and his reproduction of the Mold 1 Dy-Dee Baby, to be relaeased this fall, is a most fitting tribute to the baby doll that has captured so many hearts over the years.

5 comments about Jane's Guns Recognition Guide, 2e (Jane's Guns Recognition Guide).
- Good reference for the price listed (used). Good format. I would prefer another design of the content, but it is ok.
- I have a very consistent library on weapons.
This book is a useful quick reference source.
- FIRST THOUGHTS:
I decided to read this volume to distract myself while chaperoning my spouse and youngster during a sultry day at Six Flags theme park. After about 30 minutes I realized that the book had to be put away as I found people passing by me either gave me a thumbs-up or a head shaking frown. Can I be sure it was the book? ANSWER AFTER THE REVIEW!
ABOUT THE BOOK: LOOKS LIKE A J.C. PENNEY CATALOG FOR GUNS WITH EDITING ERRORS
ORGANIZATION OF "JANE'S GUNS RECOGNITION GUIDE:
GUN TYPES - PISTOLS, REVOLVERS, SUBMACHINE GUNS,BOLT ACTION RIFLES, AUTOMATIC RIFLES, SHOTGUNS, MACHINE GUNS;
-* MFG. INDEX, BRAND NAME INDEX - Pages 419-464
Within each gun-type, aphabetical organization by country is used. Essentially, 1 gun gets 1 page with a color photo and also includes a short blurb about the piece and a blue-outlined section at the bottom titled, "SPECIFICATIONS & OPERATIONS".
WHAT IT IS: A BASIC COMPREHENSIVE IDENTIFICATION GUIDE
There are a lot of guns in this neatly organized reference, but it provides minimal info per gun. Essentially, one can quickly and reliably identify most any piece that may be encountered in the world today or during most of the twentieth century. Having said that, if you are looking for ballistic information you will have to look elsewhere.
SO WAS IT THE BOOK OR MY DEODORANT?
Having moved away from the foot traffic to sit in the shade, after becoming a little self-conscious of the unwanted attention I seemed to be getting, a woman, about 30 or so, who had been waiting in line to get a tattoo-like rub-on, was staring at me and moving toward me. "You must be a gun dealer?" She stated rather proudly. I replied, "No -- actually I am an anti-gun activist." She looked me over, now, as if expecting to see what was wrong with me that she had missed the first time and walked away without speaking again.
- Very imformative and up to date, with relevant facts and a summary for each weapon. On the negative side though, there are WAY to many grammatical errors, it was as if the author could'nt speak English. But since grammar is not important in this type of book it is negligible. In terms of selection of firearms virtually every mass-produced firearm after 1940 is included; the only I can recall thats not in the book is the Walther P99.
- This addition of Jane's Guns Recognition guide deserves both praise and criticism. It covers a magnificent spectum of weapons from all over the world, but stops short of including new weapons, has inaccurate details (the caliber of several weapons is completely wrong).
If you have a working knowledge of firearms already, don't waste your time. If you are just getting started, it might be worth you while.

1 comments about True Mint: Mr Mint's Price & Investment Guide to True Mint Baseball Cards.
- Al Rosen is one of the most brash and self promoting dealers in the world. He certainly doesn't need to write a book to pay the rent, but fortunately he did. This book, although somewhat dated, is an essential read for anyone considering diving into the collecting of baseball cards. A quick and interesting read that you will find guiding you from beginning to advanced collecting. His insights on the trends of card grading and Tiffany sets are the only areas that where he has seemed to be proved wrong (for the time being, at least). His "Mr. Mint's Maxim's" are rules to live by before making any card purchases. Amongst all the books on baseball cards, this one truly is a "gem"!
