2 comments about Fostoria Tableware: 1944-1986.
- I found this book quickly became my favorite, looking through and finding an extensive section on the heirloom pattern. It is hard to find info on this pattern this complete with lovely pictures and numbers. This is invaluable to Fostoria collectors.
- The section on Heirloom alone is worth the price of the book. Every piece is listed in every color, with prices, and dates! The photographs are in vivid color, with every piece identified. These gals have got it together. Milk Glass is a revelation as well. Lots of goodies in this book. Lots of color and more information than I've ever seen about this period. A must for Fostoria collectors!

2 comments about Much More Early American Pattern Glass.
- This book is a good guide to finding older patterns from the mid to late 1800's through mid 1900's. The pictures are all in black and white, which makes it a bit harder to see some specifics, but in all, it has been incredibly helpful and I would definitely suggest it to anyone researching Early American Pattern Glass. 5 Stars! Thanks Alice Hulett Metz for all of your research!
- Alice Hulett Metz's Much More Early American Pattern Glass provides an excellent guide of updated values for American pattern glass, including patterns not previously listed and almost 900 photos lending to identification. Don't expect the color photos of some; this is a bare-bones yet important values guide which includes plenty of details on how to see, judge and price good early glass.

1 comments about Better Electric Lamps of the 20's and 30's With Prices.
- Sorry, this book is very deceiving in what it is about. I do not consider a loose piece of paper, inside the cover of this book, with 1997 prices on it,to be called part of this book. The printed prices in the book are in deed from the 20's and 30's. Maybe I read more into the cover of this book then I should have. And why does L-W Book Sales stamp their hard cover books with the price in big bold numbers on the back of there books? I sell music books, and the price is on the books discreetly. If a person was sitting 20 feet from a person looking at this book, they would know how much I paid for it, in which case, this book, I would be embarrassed to let anyone know what I paid for it.

4 comments about Collectors Guide to Barbie Doll Vinyl Cases: Identification and Values.
- Just what the novice barbie collector needs! I was pulling my hair out trying to tell one case from the next. This really helped me identify which of my cases were vintaigge and valuable. The book more than paid for it's self by the time I sold my first case.
- This book is absolutely WONDERFUL! I purchased this book to use as a handbook referral guide when I was buying up vinyl Barbie cases on Ebay for my collection. It is absolutely the "bible" for Barbie vinyl cases: the pictures are invaluable, & the information given is gold. If you are a serious Barbie vinyl collector, you MUST have this book--I would highly recommend to any Barbie collector!
- This book was extremely helpful in identifying all the vintage Barbie cases and the different variations. With the help of this book I was able to indentify and purchase several rare cases. I would recommend this book to all serious Barbie collectors! Many thanks to Connie Craig Kaplan for writing this book!
- Kaplan uses just the right blend of pictures and commentary to make this book an absolute "must-have" for the Barbie doll case collector. From the very first case all the way through the generic early '70's cases, Kaplan has it covered. There are mentions of late '60's vinyl lunchboxes, and she even displays coin purses, pencil pouches, and room/structures that double as cases. It doesn't appear as though she missed a thing in the genre. Kaplan has created a superb and interesting book with realistic prices that will not only entertain and help the reader reminisce; but, it will also have you running to your attic to see if you still have that old case of yours in the corner. Terrific!

4 comments about Knives 2000 (Knives, 2000).
- This book is part of a series of books that has been coming out now for many years. They consist of an article section, a trends in cutlery section (with lots of artfully done photos, and a directory section of the cutlery collectible trade and custom makers, etc. I have the whole run and look at them now and again for reference.
- I bought it as a gift for my husband and he loves it. It has every knife imaginable in it. He hasn't put it away yet and he has had it for 6 months! Gives you values of knives. Good for someone who likes to collect knives and maybe just starting out as well.
- Ken Warner is up to his usual high quality pulling together of fascinating articles and photos of the world of knives. It is a delight to anticipate opening the covers of the book each year.
Of course I'm a little prejudiced as he saw fit to include an article by me, and to my amazement the book is a well done accomplishment in spite of my being included. Seriously, if you do not have this book and have an interest in handmade knives it is a must-read. You will not be disappointed.
- Knives 2000 is definitely better than last years issue. The first improvement is a cross reference index so you can find out what page the picture is on for the maker you are looking up. For example, I was looking up Canadian knife maker Matt Harildstad since I really like his work. The index showed a reference to page 86 of his drop point hunter. I am glad Ken did this for this years issue.
Other improvements is a section on sheaths, engraving and scrimshaw. Therer are some excellent articles this year by some very well known members of the knife community to include: *Bernard Levine *Bruce Voyles *Ken Warner (the author) *Butch Winter (excellent article about owning a counterfeit knife that may not be counterfeit) Also included is a section on knife trends, state of the art knives, factory trends and of course my favorite part; The Directory of literally hundreds of makers. The directory alone complete with addresses, phone numbers and price ranges is well worth the cost of the book. I'm glad to see the new issue out. This is a must for any knife collector/user's library.
