1. This is an excellent place to begin learning about leather bound books. The author is knowledgeable, and the photos are excellent. Not much is covered in depth, but it's a good, basic survey.

1. Fantastic reference book with over 300 high quality, full color pictures with descriptions and what to look for. Nice range of silver and silver-plate items listed. The last 50 entries are pewter items (yuck). Handy size too.

1. This is an excellent book! I teach an antique porcelain class and found it useful to gain expertise quickly. This book is successfully used by appraisers, dealers, collectors and teachers. I have read many porcelain books, and this one was one of the easiest to read and understand. It was well organized and contained a good variety of the styles and characteristics of RS Prussia.

   All four volumes are needed to identify pieces, although Ms. Gaston provides a shape guide to help date pieces not pictured.

   What I'd like to see in the next book is 1) clarification on how the marks were made, i.e., printed over or under glaze, 2) the types of glazes used (and were pieces refired) 3)repeat of history with changes incorporated, verses the new and updated info section. The history only appears fully in the ist volume.




2. Okay- I admit it. I did not have a room full of R.S.Prussia china to reference when I bought this book. I just loved the pictures and had to have it! I can dream a little dream and imagine finding a portrait bowl or vase at a small town flea market for next to nothing...and then I can look up its worth and smile as I place my prize in the china cabinet ( a coveted possession NOT for resale!).



3. Wonderful book with full color pictures. Also pictures of the marks. Great price guide! Will use this over & over.



4. As a new collector of R.S. Prussia I found this book to be an excellent reference. It's detailed description and beautiful pictures of the different molds, decorations and marks was very helpful. I know there are a lot of "fake" pieces on the market and this book is proving to be an invaluable guide for me. The history was very interesting also. Thank you Ms. Gaston! A really beautiful book and very informative.



5. This book was very insightful for me. I was searching for a particular "mark" on a piece that I own. This was the only book that was of help.

1. Another great book by Sarah Sink Eames!-Great outfits and pictures-easy to see values-Fun to see how Barbie and friends followed current fashion trends for the late 60's and early 70's-very helpful to any vintage collector!!

4. In Hong Kong, it is not popular to collect vintage Barbie dolls so that it is not easy to explore specific related knowledge. This book really helps a lot. It is a bible for every Barbie collectors!

They are very well-written, with lovely photographs of absolutely pristine examples of each outfit, enough to make you drool over on every single page!

   'Barbie Doll Fashion: 1968-1974' covers the fashions from Barbie's exciting Mod era, and includes fashions not only for Barbie, but for her friends and family as well. These include original outfits, Pak outfits, Best Buys, Get Ups and Gos, Store Exclusives and every other type of outfit available from 1968 to 1974.

   Each outfit is described in detail, with a photograph showing the outfit and all accessories next to it, laying flat. Some outfits are shown on the doll. The photography is stunning, by far the best of any Barbie book I've ever seen.

5 comments about The One-Minute Coin Expert, 4th Edition (One Minute Coin Expert).

1. As a complete beginner, I found this an interesting book to read. It seems to cover both the finance side of coin collecting along with the hobby aspect, something I appreciated while reading it. I recommend it.



2. I read a good part of this book while flying from Athens to Vienna and I have mixed feeling about it. The book itself, as a publication that is, is way below present-day acceptable standards with b&w low resolution (bearly distinguisable) photos of coins on a dark-brown recyclable paper. Altough the content is always more important than the cover, the overall quality bothered me a lot. Content-wise the situation is much better. Altough I am not really interested in US coin varieties, presenting mint errors, how they were made or how much they cost, what to consider etc is helpful for every collector and I did learn a couple of new things. What I especially enjoyed was the coin grading guide which was quite thorough and extended to many pages. This was quite rewarding as it was one of the most important reasons I purchased the book in the first place. I also liked the information about the coin market, which -although commonsensical in large part- made an interesting reading and helped me in a couple of investing decisions. to conclude, I did gain knowledge from this book, but apart from the grading stuff it was more of a light reading than a source of great information. Since it costs only a few dollars, I would recommend it to beginners but certainly not to experienced collectors.



3. If you have ever had a coin in your pocket you need to have this book in your library. Scott A. Travers is an amazing writer who carefully and thoughtfully explains everything you need to know about coin collecting.



4. This book had many tips for the new collector. There are e-mail addresses and address of people that can help with coins that you are not sure are errors. It tells you what coins to buy and which are not a good bet. All in all, I've you're a new collector, buy it!



5. Scott Travers makes numismatical things easy to understand. A great book for all. I highly reccommend it!
