1 comments about Goldmine Promo Record & Cd Price Guide.
- This book is not one of Goldmine's best issues but for the most part it gets the job done. The listings are many but detailed they are not. The part that bothered me the most was the general price guidelines...for example if you look under an artist and you do not see the album listed it might say in small print the record label and a general price value. It would be more helpful to list more album titles for the artists instead of giving a general price. It was also disappointing that only NM values are given. How many records from the 1950's do you have that are NM?
On a good note I have not seen any other promo guides so I guess it gets the job done more or less.

2 comments about Big Monkey's Compact Disc Price Guide: A Cd Collector's Handbook.
- I purchased this for my son for a Christmas gift. He was very happy with it.
- This is a much needed book for the collecting community and I am glad that someone has attempted to tackle this subject. For a first edition it is a good start. Hopefully future editions will be more complete like the Tim Neely Goldmine price guides. I believe that the author has biten off more than he could chew trying to list both domestic and import compact discs. A few examples of what I was looking for that are not represented are as follows: If you want to know if your original Paul McCartney "Tug of War" CD on Columbia is worth more than the current Capitol version you will only see the Capitol version listed. The Columbia one sells for a premium on Ebay. The Motown Two-fers that MCA put out in the late 80's are also collectible and not listed. Some popular rock artists are well represented while others especially Soul are not. Like all price guides the values are subjective. Currently available compact discs have their full retail price listed which makes their value over inflated. If this is going to be the book of record then collecter's input for future edtions will make this book a must-have.

5 comments about The Official Price Guide to The Beatles Records and Memorabilia: 2nd Edition (Official Price Guide to the Beatles).
- This book is absolutely terrible, I don't know why they use the word memorabilia as there is hardly anything in it except records, I paid over $50 for this and I wouldn't give you a dime for it if I had to do it over again
TOTAL dissapointment on my end
- I'm not knocking this entire book; there's a lot of good info in here. What bothers me is that the supposed 'gospel' and 'official' price guide failed to accurately describe the availability of a certain Beatles Collection - BC 13 - Limited Edition box set released in the United States during the Christmas Holiday /December 1978.
As the facts still stand, this "retail release" was available to the general public, in stark contrast to Perry's statement of being only available to Capitol Record executives and industry affiliates. This type of sloppy journalism results in the creation of false perceptions in the market place...
- The book is awesome. And a must if you are a collector.
I cant wait until Perry finaly releases his new book!
- If you want to learn anything about Beatles records, you are much better of getting copies of Bruce Spizers books, and tracking prices on Ebay. Forget about this overrated and out of date waste of money. I wish I found out before I blew a bunch of money on Ebay.
- It doesn`t matter if you have been collecting the Beatles for years or a novice just starting out, this book has something for everyone.Chock full of details like label variations and year of release. What better way to find the value of your record collection than by the experts, and Mr. Cox certainly is that.He has been writing the only official guide to the Beatles records for years. Now,this book is in a handy size so you can take it along to yard sales where you`ll know if you`ve found that treasure or not.For ebayers, this book is a money saver. No more,"I sold it too cheap cause I didn`t know the value" Highly recomended.

5 comments about Collectible Compact Disc Price Guide 2 (Collectible Compact Disc Price Guide).
- This book contains an extremely detailed history of digital media. The listings are out of date but the information contained in the first half of the book MORE than makes up for this shortcoming. Anyone interested in collecting cds NEEDS a copy of this book. It would also be useful for students of history and technology.
- Because of cd collecting being relatively new there hasn't been an established price guide so some pricing may be off. However this guide cotains a great deal of cd information and goes a long way in identifying rare and collectable cd's. When I first purchased this book about 6 years ago I wasn't even aware of collectable cd's. Since then I found countless rare and valuable cd's in used cd bins.
- 80% of my collection was not even listed in this book. I became very frustrated when they didn't even list the complete bands discography. To top that off, most were singles that were listed.
- Admittedly, some of the pricing is way off and could use a refresh. But this field of collecting is so new (even the author points that out) that it is very difficult to establish pricing. For overall layout and identification of early CD's, there is simply no other guide out there. Great coverage of things like the "Edison Sampler", which was the first compact disc ever pressed in the U.S. As a bonus, Laser Discs are covered as well.
- This is the best book on music collecting I have ever seen. The two prior reviews couldn't be more WRONG! This guide has tons of color pictures of collectible CDS and information on just about every aspect of the compact disc and CD collecting. The book also has a huge listing of collectible CDs from around the world (more so than most record guides). This is a book that I have read over and over again and always find something new. I give this book five stars and is a must for every CD collector. (Plus it only cost me the same as a CD.)

2 comments about Audio digital : conceptos básicos y aplicaciones.

1 comments about Goldmine British Invasion Record Price Guide.
- This book finally puts it all in one place (well almost all). The British Invasion artists are listed here with their US and UK releases. The British Parlophone Beatles are here as well as obscure items such as the Bootles. Some artists are shorted in their UK listings, however. For a one-stop guide nothing beats it at the present time.

- Actually,My review is a sort of complaint. In chapter 11 where troubleshooting was treated, items 1-3 were treated on pages 390-395,but item 4 was not treated,I don't know what went wrong,I checked other copies of it but they were all the same.

2 comments about Warman's Beatles Field Guide: Values And Identification (Warman's Field Guides).
- Bought this for a stocking stuffer for Christmas. My husband, a huge Beatles fan, loves it. My teenage son, another Beatles fan, covets it. If I had known how much they would like it, I would've bought two of them. They are particularly interested in old vinyl records. This doesn't list them all, but it is still a handy reference guide for the items it does list. Note that it only lists US record releases, not the UK records. Though it has its limits, it was a great little stocking stuffer for the price (68 cents plus shipping). Beware that, though this item was advertised by a marketplace seller as "used, like new", it did have a marker stripe across the bottom of the book. Didn't bother us, but it isn't quite "like new" for those giving it as a gift to discriminating recipients!
- This pocket guide to Beatles collectibles is a handy reference for those wishing to value their own collections or add to them. I learned that my copy of Vee Jay's "Introducing the Beatles" album will not be funding my retirement, since it is in fact a counterfeit. The section on U.S. Beatles releases is useful; clear instructions are given for discriminating among the many variations that exist.
The most annoying feature of the guide is a doltish essay by one Chris Nickson. This uninformed commentator goes on about the importance of "George's" "Baby, You're a Rich Man." You don't have to be steeped in Fab Four lore to know that this is a Lennon-McCartney song. How did this error make it through Editorial? It undermines the Guide's credibility. Nickson goes on to archly dismiss most of the Beatles' music. "Get Back" is "not worth the vinyl." Get this guy out of the 2nd edition, if there is one.
The book's other essays are also superfluous. Why include an article about the Moptops' solo careers when the Guide does not cover albums and merchandise from that period? I wish the section on British LPs, allegedly brief due to space constraints, had been expanded; omitting those essays would have freed up a lot of space.
This book, while not masterful, is nevertheless useful for the many of us who don't know whether we own treasures or trash. Buy it, consult its tables of price information, but don't read it.
