2 comments about Chinchillas: How to Take Care of Them and Understand Them (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- This book was great when I got my chin. I consulted it all the time for very basic information. However, it does not have enough info on illnesses. It is simple and easy to understand but I definitely recommend getting an additional book for more detailed info.
- The barrons book on chinchillas is a very short beginner book that has nice pictures. However, the book has little more than just the barest of information, nothing on diseases, and very little other than general information. The suggested cage is constructed of wood and since chinchillas are chewers, it is a poor choice of frame for a chinchilla cage, although it would work for a rabbit.

2 comments about The Ultimate Beagle: The Natural Born Rabbit Dog.
- Robert L. Mason brings his love for his father, the heartland and beagling to life in this delightful book. He intwines these themes adeptly. This book is a real treasure for people who hunt with beagles or for the pet owner. As the owner of a beagle, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It will certainly brighten up one's day. Beagles are truly delightful pets.
- I have never met Robert Mason, but I can say that for his ability to bring to better awareness some of the feeling of his father's generation - he should be considered a national treasure. This book is not only about that most companionable of man's best friends - the Beagle - it is about life in rural America, friendships, and taking time for one another. This book celebrates a dog's place in our lives, and would help anyone appreciate the role of small game hunting in the life of rural America. Mason goes beyond this, however, and brings us full circle to an understanding of love for the land and its creatures - and how in partnership with one's Beagle - all of us can continue in his father's tradition.

5 comments about Guide to Owning a Hamster: Accommodations, Feeding, Breeding, Exhibition, Health Care.
- ...from any of this author's books...Ms. Barrie was just the publisher's secretary...the publisher is Herb Axelrod and under cross-examination during litigation against him Ms. Barrie said whenever Axelrod assigned her to do a book she just went to the library for references and then spent a week writing each one...Axelrod ultimately was sentenced to 18 months in prison for tax evasion and Ms. Barrie is now working as a dental hygienist...Axelrod carries some weight among fish fans but I'd be cautious about taking advice from any of Ms. Barrie's books.
- The information contained in the book is outdated and could be hazardous to your hamster. "White shaving" aka pine shavings are a no-no due to potential respiratory problems. The wire wheel, is also a no-no. Every year, many hamsters are seriously injured by wire wheels. There are better, much more up to date books that give safer information than this book!
- I thought this book was great! It gave me all the information I needed. When I was reading it,I kept on saying "Wow!to myself.I recomend this book to all hamster lovers.
- When I read this book,I found it completely helpful. My friend,Michael,is also a hamster owner. He found it helpful, too.I loved it!
- this is a must buy book.It tells you all about breeding, sexing, and most important how to make your hamster a happy hamster.

5 comments about Hedgehogs: How to Take Care of Them and Understand Them (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- I only have one world for this book. DEADLY!
- I cannot fault the intent of Vriends since I do not know him personally, but this book has caused me as a hedgehog rescuer no end of difficulty. This book -- and others -- recommend things that are terrible for hedgehogs. Cedar shavings, as another reviewer noted, are recommended by this book. The aromatic oils from cedar shavings can cause respiratory failure in hedgehogs and other complications. It gets worse from there.
The novice hedgehog owner is not going to pick up on these inaccuracies or errors, and that means that because of this book, hedgehogs are going to receive poor care. If you want a better book, try Dawn Wrobel's The Hedgehog: Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet OR try doing some research on the Internet instead, where the information is frequently peer-reviewed and kept more up-to-date than in a static publication.
- This is a good book for anyone who is planning on reading other books on hedgehogs besides this one. It provides basic information that is neccesary to know. However it stops there. There is nothing extraordinary about this book. Plus some of the information is wrong. By following the directions in this book, I almost killed my hedgehog.
- The more I got into the book, the less it reminded me of the prickly critters I have grown to love. Much of his information is incorrect (the usage of cedar shavings, the 'nausea' sections, etc) and the rest seems to be based off of his observation of African Pygmies in the WILD. Appearantly our domesticated pets behave a little differently. An alright book in general, but you need to discern the good from the bad and that may not be too obvious for the new hedgehog afficionado.
- This is one of the most fasanating books I have ever read.If you are considering a hedgehog or already own one you must perchis this book.It covers evrything from taming,to raising your own hedgehogs, and even letting them go in your own backyard.

2 comments about A New Owner's Guide to Guinea Pigs (A New Owner's Guide to).
- Karen Bawoll's book is a great guide for new guinea pig owners, but lacks the detail of other books. It's a great place to start to learn about cavies. Note that a guinea pig's cage should be at least 7.5 square feet, however. Visit www.guineapigcages.com for more info. Good luck!
- I bought this book when I got my first two guinea pigs. This is a great guide and I highly reccomend it. It has many full-color photos and an easy to understand format. Important things you'd really want to know are in bold, and the index is quite large. And so far, I haven't found any errors. Plus, the guinea pigs featured in the book will make you squeal since they are so CUTE! :D
I've also found that there is a section that informs you about genetics. It's very interesting... it can help you trace down exactly what the unknown parents of your little piggie probably looked like. This book is perfect for first time owners!!

5 comments about Funny Bunnies.
- This is a MUST have for bunny lovers. If you've ever owned a bunny, you know how strong their personalities are. This book is filled with stories about each and everyone of the bunnies portrayed here. The pictures are beautiful, It's just wonderful...
- The book "Funny Bunnies" is a picture-filled delight of nature's cutest animal (okay, some may not agree that they are THE cutest, but I think that they are; and the pictures are delightful, too). The main body of the book offers pictures of pets for most breeds of rabbits, some background to the breed and a little humorous biographical information or story about the pictured pet. At the beginning of the books are ears of various breeds, at the end are the tails of rabbits: i.e., front and back of bunny. The book is well-written and entertaining, and as noted, the pictures are terrific. It is an oversized, short book (slightly less than 100 pages), but it's a fun book, one that you might find yourself paging back through time and again. It's definitely worth treating yourself to this book.
- This is a gorgeous book. It gives an artistic approach the beauty of rabbits and a glimpse into their whimsey and humor. The rabbits featured are exquisite examples of their respective breeds and the photographers showcases their personalities.
As a warning, only true "rabbit people" will get this book. Buy this book for the true bunny lover in your life. This is a great book to leave on your coffee table. People will pick it up and oooh and ahhh at the funny bunnies featured.
- This book has the cutest pictures, and info on the breeds!
Such cute rabbits.
- This book is great for any Rabbit lover, it has great images / Photographs and gives you a brief description of a few of the many rabbit breeds we have. The photographs are the best I have seen, it is a great book you can keep going back to.

- My nine year old neutered rabbit gives this book a "paws down" and asks people not to raise domestic rabbit for dinner in the USA.
Remember to neuter your pets.
- My kids had the hardest time finding information on raising meat rabbits for a project, and we found this book at the library. We are buying it because it has the best descriptions and directions for raising meat rabbits from cage to pot. Last week was the first time our family tasted rabbit, and it was great!!
- the perpetrators of this book should be ashamed of themselves! there is no creature on earth as loveable and inoffensive as the bunny rabbit. why not a book on cooking the family dog? outrageous indeed!
