1. Definitely recommended...

   This quick reference guide is well-laid out and has quite a bit of useful (as well as interesting) information.

   Not only do you get a lot of information that is easy to understand, but the photos are fantastic as well!

   I have had my second rabbit for nearly a year now and this is one of the best resources I've found yet.

1. The inaccurate info in this book is enough to cancel out it's value almost altogether, in my opinion. The fact that it includes information which I know to be false(both from my own experience and from the multitude of other resources which contradict it) made it difficult to determine whether or not to believe any info in it that I had not previously heard or read. And the book isn't even that old! It should have much better info than it does!
   For instance on one page it says cat and dog food can be given as treats to rats, yet on a different page it lists them both as "harmful foods". The previous reviewer covers most of the other inaccuracies. The only thing I really found valuable in the book was the descriptions of how rats live in the wild and what colony life is like. But I haven't read the same info anywhere else, so I have no way of verifying whether it is accurate or not.
   Bottom line: buy a different rat guide, this one is NOT worth the money or the risk of following bad/inaccurate advice!



2. This book is a mix of bad and good rat advice. I will first list the good things about this book. #1 The description of the life of wild rats in their colonies. It's accurate. #2 The pictures : They are by far the best pictures of pet rats I've seen in a book, (so far) #3 It has some OK to Good info on caring for rats but there are other books with much better information like Debbie Ducommuns Rats! #4 The book stresses the need to have more than just one rat. Thats important. The problems with this book are: #1 The author makes blanket statements against any breeding of rats totally not taking into account the fact that there are people who are responsible breeders out there. The author also doesn't explain what needs to be done to responsibly breed, such as before you even think of breeding make sure that you can place all the babies in loving homes, things like that. #2 The author recommends pine bedding, which is well known to have ill effects on rats just like cedar does. #3 On page 36, her logic as to why the life expectency of rats probably can't be increased is muddled and odd. She also states that previously the natural life expectency of rats was thought to be six to seven years. When did anyone think the life expectency of rats was that long? , I've read most books on rats and they all say the average life expectency of rats are two to three years, while some may live to four or five. Anyway this book should be bought with caution, there is alot of good info mixed with bad in this book

1. Sad to say that when I purchased this book noone had given it a review, if they had I would not have bothered buying it. Lik the other reviews the information is very basic and not that correct.
   Please dont buy this book going by the title, they really dont know that much about Rabbits.



2. Apologies to the author but I have learned more useful information from the 3 months I've had rabbits then she seems to have learned from her year of caring for rabbits. The information is not useful, in fact she leaves out serious common ailments and includes many that are not much of an issue. The "celebrity" (who are these people and why should I value their opinions?) sections are horrible. I hoped this book would offer insight in how to communicate with these amazing and delightful creatures. There was none of that. There are far far better books out there! If you have rabbits I found "Rabbits for Dummies" and "House Rabbit Handbook" to be very useful. I also subscribe to the etherbun list serve and it is a valuable resource. I'm sorry I spent my money on this book.



3. This is not the book I thought it was. Full of misinformation and old fashioned outdated ideas. And to my horror it includes some UK celebrity's stories of their experiences with rabbits, which may have been an attempt to be charming or funny but come off as horrifying in their complete lack of understanding and bad information.
   
   Although there is some good information in this book, the organization is haphazard not easily found, in short, this is this is not a reference book for anyone who has a house rabbit. You would be much better off with The House Rabbit Handbook: How to live with an Urban Rabbit by Marinell Harriman House Rabbit Handbook: How to Live With an Urban Rabbit. Don't waste your time and money on this book. The author is no rabbit whisperer!

1. This is the best single book for the guinea pig owner. If you own a guinea pig, you owe it to yourself and the pig to get this book!. Well written, with good advice and adorable photographs.



2. I've bought a few books on guinea pigs to learn about my pets. If I got this one first, I would not have bought any others!



3. I've read many different pet books, mainly on dogs and rats. But I've also read a few on guinea pigs because 'm planing to purchase a few as pets pretty soon. I can tell you easily that this is the best pet book I've ever seen! It thoroughly explains all matters of guinea pig care and even includes a table for feeding amounts! That's one of the best things! You should definitly get this book! It's AWESOME! Bye!



4. This book is filled with all kinds of interesting and useful inforomation on guinea pigs. If you are a new owner and are interested in learning more about your pet this is the book to buy!

1. Great idea! Lovers of cats (or of dogs for that matter) will find this book a beautiful, witty addition to the library. A gift, to be enjoyed when received and to be considered a sure success when given to friends. How wonderfully simple as a concept and how intricately creative as a final publication! This will remain a "classic" work, really unique.

4. "Good Mousekeeping©" is absolutly purrfect for any one interested in cats. Ilene Hochberg is a creativly talented lady and deserves lots of recognition for this book. It includes a purrspective as we think of cats, and the way we think they may look at certain situations. You will find this book close to that of Good Housekeeping©. It even includes a clever section called "At Home With Mouser Stewart". I'm looking forward to reading Vanity Fur and Catmopolitan, also by Ilene Hochberg. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do! Don't Forget... Cats are smarter than we take them for, therefore, it could be said that we are, in a cat's eyes, very unintelligent for thinking cats aren't as intelligent as they really are!
