1 comments about Flow Blue: A Closer Look.
- This is probably one of the best Flow Blue reference books that I have seen. The photography is exceptional.
While the focus is primarily on several patterns, the assortment of pieces (shapes) shown will certaily be of interest to both the serious and novice collector alike. You will find strange and unusual pieces shown be it a cake plate, syrup pitcher, mug, egg cups, etc. If you're a collector you've probably got a piece that you not sure what is was used for! If so, you'll probably find it (or something similar) here -there is certainly an amazing variety shown! For those who love Flow Blue this book is an absolute must!

2 comments about Living with Ceramics.
- Annabel Freyberg has placed a much needed book before the public, a book that offers both written and illustrated suggestions on how to focus on and feature ceramics works in the household, her point being that plates and vessels should be appreciated as art rather than as utilitarian works. And with this goal in mind she succeeds with her cause in LIVING WITH CERAMICS.
For this reader and viewer the book could have been so much more. Yes, the ceramic works displayed on the pages of this book are lovely examples from around the world and her suggestions on how to place with significantly in the living space are solid. The missing piece that the cover of the book suggests is the huge world of clay art in all of its myriad and magnificent forms created by gifted artists of international stature are not included. This collection with the covers of this book disappoints the true ceramic art collector: where are the significant works by Frey, Soldner, Freedman, Voulkos etc etc etc?
This book is well written and well designed but is definitely more geared toward the interior decorator than the collector of important ceramic art. Grady Harp, December 06
- This book may look like an issue of Martha Stuart's "Living," but is acts, in a sense, as a visual journey througn the history of ceramic art. The book takes the reader through many ceramic periods, with informative historical text accompianing the great collection of colorplates. I am a ceramic artist, and I bought the book because it is difficult to find a recent book about the history of ceramics. I think "Living with Ceramics," is quite well rounded and provides information for the antique enthusiast, ceramisist, interior designer, or art collector.
