2 comments about Wheeling Decorating Company: Identification & Value Guide.

  1. This book is an incredible resource for a collecter. Webster's passion for thorough research is evident as he weaves stories about WDC's history into a very practical price guide. He approaches the subject as a storyteller, researcher, curator, and glassware dealer. This reminds the reader of why we get into collecting in the first place; it goes beyond the object and into how the object came to be. Webster's book teaches us about why this glassware was made and encourages us to ask similar questions about the material world around us. He strikes a fine balance between the technical, practical, and personal aspects of telling the story of the Wheeling Decorating Company. This is a most impressive debut and I hope we will see more from this fine author.

  2. This book is wonderful. Very informative, well written. I would like to see more on this company.

4 comments about American Painted Porcelain: Collector's Identification & Value Guide.

  1. Nice for studies and examples of others work but value is underpriced. One must consider the value to the person collecting the china.

  2. A must-have for collectors and antique dealers alike. This book details the history, production, and decoration of American handpainted porcelain, all with beautiful photographs and helpful illustrations. A key component is the identification and valuation of handpainted items.

  3. Even though I had been collecting since 1984 I discovered how much there is to know about the subject. Full of history, insights, examples and references, plus beautiful format and photograpy.

  4. Beautiful pictures, excellent information, nothing like it. For novice and advanced collectors I have not found a source so thorough. I suggest you contact the author and review this book. You won't be sorry

3 comments about Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware.

  1. Although there are nice pictures and NICE overinflated prices,
there is much information and labeling of yellow ware that is incorrect. It is obvious that this author doesn't know enough about pottery to be considered an authority on yellow ware. the only book that I know of that has the correct information for the begginer and the scholar is Gallo's book, a great reference. When is he going to do another one?

  2. This book has even more information than the first! The color photography is wonderful. The entire book is filled with photos of many rare and unusual pieces. She has also added a section on Potters and their marks to aide in identification.A well researched and enjoyable guide for the Yellow Ware Collector. I hear number three's in the works.

  3. Collecting Yellow Ware is a must have for the Yellow Ware collector.Lisa and Michael have created an in-depth guide of the history of this wonderful pottery. There are tips for collecting, and numerous color photographs. All arranged in and easy to follow format.I refer to it daily.

5 comments about Quimper Pottery: A Guide to Origins, Styles, and Values.

  1. This book is a comprehensive and well-organized guide to Quimper Pottery -suitable for the serious collector as well as the beginner. The text is authoritative and readable, with an excellent index for ready reference. It is well-illustrated with color photographs which are instructive as well as beautiful. A glossary of terms, a time-line illustrating the development of Quimper faience, chapters on the artists as well as the manufacturers (and their marks)of Quimper, and a guide to factors affecting the value of pieces, are particularly useful. Highly recommended.

  2. As a more recent collector of Quimper I needed to purchase a good guide on the earlier and more expensive wares. I found the history of the origins, styles and values most interesting and useful. The book was well illustrated covering the various styles and the all important section on the Factory Marks complemented the volume at the end.

  3. The History of the people andpottery of Provenc includes much pottery of the region, but particularly the development of Quimper. The pictures are lovely and the values listed are valid.

  4. My wife was thrilled to receive this delightful book for a Christmas present.
She finds it informative, entertaining and very well illustrated.
The price is very good value for such a book.

    Jim Pryor

  5. The presentation of Quimper Pottery in this book has never been equaled. The book covers all aspects of Quimper Pottery in a logical and easy to understand manner. The photographs are exceptional. No other book in the field combines such completness, organization and graphical excitement. A must have book for anyone interested in this subject or just curious.

5 comments about Modern Candy Containers & Novelties: Identification & Value Guide.

  1. I have seen the price double in candy containers and this is going to be a HOT new collectable. And so far this is the best book I have found and I have really looked.

    Candy King.

  2. I think this is a great book and do recommend it.

  3. This book is great and a MUST HAVE for serious and casual or would be collectors of Candy Containers. I have been collecting glass Candy Containers for many years and have just begun collecting the plastic containers. This is the BEST book on the subject. It is well organized and provides just enough background on the history of candy containers. It must have taken thousands of hours to compile such an extensive list and take all those pictures... Such great detail! The price evaluations are surprisingly accurate. Even though there is a disclaimer that value is what it is worth to you and the hobby is ment for fun. What a book. I bought 6 of 'em for gifts.

  4. I'm so happy a book finally came out on this, not so old, collecting of plastic candy containers. I can now see so many that I do not have, that will make the "hunting" so much more exciting. The book title says it all, "Modern Candy Containers & novelties", because there are few older ones listed. All in all, I think this is a great book and do recommend it to any one that enjoys collecting fun "stuff"!

4 comments about Jadite: An Identification and Price Guide.

  1. I LOVE MY JADITE BOOK, IT'S VERY INFORMATIVE AND EASY TO USE TO IDENTIFY AND PRICE ANTIQUE PIECES. I COULDN'T FIND THIS BOOK ANYWHERE EXCEPT AT AMAZON.

  2. Co-written by expert antiques dealers Joe Keller and David Ross, Jadite: An Identification And Price Guide informatively examines and showcases Jadeite dinnerware from the 1930s to the mid 1970s. Gorgeous full color photographs are combined with a comprehensively researched price guide to make for a marvelous compendium of Jadite works. Highly enjoyable for armchair connoisseurs of practical art and devoted collectors alike, Jadite is exhaustive, authoritative, "user friendly", and enthusiastically recommended.

  3. One of the things I hate about price guides is the pricing. So many authors price items by what they have and what they want to have. If they have it, it's worth a fortune. If they want to have it, it's not worth anything. The reason for this is simple. If they want to sell something they have the price has been established and they'll ask the price in their book. It they don't have it and want it they price it low so they can buy it inexpensively. Keller and Ross don't do that. They are out there shopping, doing shows, going to auctions and their prices are generally right on the mark. That's a tremendous help to both collectors and dealers. The other great thing about the book is the photos. There are lots of them so it makes it easy to identify the pieces you have or are looking to buy. I like the organization by category which makes it easy to look up itemsIf you're a collector or a dealer this book is well worth the price.

  4. This book has awesome photography with accurate color and well conceived layouts. It is well organized and easy to use as a reference and pricing guide. I would highly recommend this book to both the novice collector and the seasoned veteran.
