1. The photographs of the etching patterns in this book are deporable. I know that taking photos of clear glass to display the etching pattern is not the easiest thing to do - I do it on Ebay all the time - but the attempt failed miserably here. I call it a waste of my money.

   In addition, it is a beautifully designed book with many luminous photographs and closeup details. I'm proud to display it on my table and carry it while antique shopping. It has always been met with a knowledgeable nod.

1. I can't wait to receive my Collectors News Magazine to read the articles written by Mr. Miller. This book is fine collection of opinions, expertise, and knowledge by the King of Hummels. I recommend it to ALL Hummel Lovers.



2. A nicely illustrated book of Hummels as seen through Robert Miller. This book gives his details on the rarities and different variations that are found among Hummel figurines. It is a great reference book and I've given copies to all my friends who collect, buy and sell Hummels



3. I have 2 other bks of his. I don't like the hummels listed by year at all. Makes it more difficult to look for your refrence #s.The other bks made it simpler to find what yiu were looking for. Un happy that I can't get his 1998 hummel price bk.

5 comments about Johnson Brothers Dinnerware: Pattern Directory and Price guide.

1. Wanted a book which showed the pictures of the various shapes of the pieces of Johnson Bros table ware that are available. This is NOT that book.



2. I was especially interested in the different backstamps of the Heritage Hall pattern, I didn't find them. I was very disappointed in the absence of Heritage Hall pieces. I returned the book.



3. An expanded version of Mary Finegana's definitive reference on Johnson Brothers Dinnerware. Her new edition has a larger page format, more total pages, more total patterns, new illustrations, additional supplementary material, an updated 2003 price guide and guidance on how to keep the price guide current. Very highly recommended.



4. This book presents an academic approach to the subject of ceramic ware produced by Johnson Brothers during their existence as an independant company. It does not convey the romance that the antique collect looks for. I feel that Mary Finegan lost an opportunity whilst visiting the U.K. to talk to the very person that could have given her that insight. William (Bill) Norbury worked for Johnson Bros. for 50 yrs. He had that insight as designer and Master engrave and was still alive during her visit. Prof.Jean Zarruchi conveyed that romance during her lecture and exhibition at Keele Universtity, Staffs.U.K. Sept. 2000. Bill's unpublished record of his experiences conveys that insight into many of the designs contained in Mary Finegan's Book. (...)
