1 comments about 20th Century Ceramics (World of Art).
- This is a great book for understanding ceramics of the 20th century. It is well written and has excellent photographic images. For each era several artists are given which enables you to take your study further. This book is a good foundation book from which to begin and expand your study of ceramic history.

2 comments about Official Price Guide to Collector Plates, 6th Edition (6th ed).
- I found this book very helpful. It is comprehensive in its coverage. It is somewhat difficult to find plates and could be better organized. The pricing should be more current. Plates from 1990 to 2001 should at least have going rates listed, not New Issue. Most readers are trying to get an idea of the value of their collection. On P.7, the author says that RI means issued in the last five years. Many plates issued as long ago as 1992 have NI. I found most of the values listed NR and BR to be fairly accurate.
- Great, some illustrations, some tips for buying and selling, however, not updated for the internet. Some prices are off the wall but overall a good reference.

5 comments about Antique Limoges at Home.
- This would be the first book I would purchase if you are a beginner or
long time collector of Limoges. It is excellent
- Antique Limoges at Home is a great resource book with the marks & beautiful photos of unique pieces. Highly recommend this book. I have the book by Gaston & those by Waterbrook/Clyde and I can not recommend them. If you need a book on Limoges porcelain purchase one of DuBay's: Antique Limoges at Home, Living With Limoges & Collecting Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain.
- I love Schiffer, but I prefer Keith and Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde books on Limoge! I think that their 4 books, and especially the most recently published, contains more insight into the world of limoge.
- I own all three of Debby DuBay's books on Limoges along with all of the other reference books available on the market today. I have to admit - it is hard finding this book unless you purchase it on line - but it is well worth the effort. Out of all of the Limoges reference books this book Antique Limoges at Home is the absolutely best. It covers French factory listed artists, amature artists, American Decorating Studios, American listed artists, every back stamp and mark out there, reproductions and a complete section of American Limoges marks. Antique Limoges at Home is the best and a must for the Limoges collector.
- Numerous color photographs of limoges' pieces or sets in different rooms of a home--foyer, livingroom, bedrooms, etc.--illustrate how this highly desirable porcelain can enhance any setting. Individual pieces and sets are highlighted in middle chapters on different types of limoges such as plates, ewers, platters, chalices, dresser sets, punch bowls, teapots, vases, and others. With these pieces with price ranges conveniently noted following brief descriptions, one can study the details of illustrations, design of the edges, ornamentation, shape, and coloring. There's a shorter section for limoges pieces "you can wear"--i. e., brooches, pins, buttons. Owner of the Limoges Antique Shop in Andover, MA, and author and contributor to other books on limoges who is also a retired Air Force officer, Debbie DuBay has long been a recognized leader in spreading the word about the special beauty, diversity, and value of limoges. This book is so attractive, a reader might miss the general information and reference material DuBay provides of use to collectors and investors at all levels. Opening chapters introduce beginning collectors to limoges porcelain, noting distinctions between French and American limoges and the matter of reproductions. The references on artists, markings, and evaluating a piece or set more of interest to advanced collectors and dealers comes toward the end. Here there are close-ups of the many artist signatures and factory marks signifying the finest limoges.

1 comments about Collectible Vernon Kilns: Identification and Value Guide (Collectible Vernon Kilns).
- This book is a must have for anyone interested in collecting any of the numerous shapes and/or patterns of pottery made by Vernon Kilns. I won't repeat what's said above in the book description or product details, but I will add that many years of obvious painstaking research has culminated in Maxine Nelson's 4th book on the subject.
I had no idea what a challenge it would be to complete a collection of dinnerware in just ONE of the patterns ("Gingham", a green and yellow plaid design) that was made. Even with this book in hand you will never be 100% sure of all the pieces that exist in whatever pattern you're attempting to collect. In my opinion, the "not knowing" is part of the challenge that only serves to make collecting this truly versatile line of wares that much more fun, interesting, and rewarding.
By the way, this book has 320 pages, not 192 as listed above. Sadly, this book is already out of print. However, at the time of this writing quite a few copies are still available.
If you're a fanatic, you'll want to find copies of the newsletter "Vernon Views" printed from 1981 through 2003 by Pat Faux and Nancy Scadeberg, but we'll save that for another time...

5 comments about Roseville In All Its Splendor.
- Isn't that great? The Author (see below) will make improvments and release a "better" version, thanks to Amazon customers who have already wasted their money on this one. What a great life, eh? And, she gives her own book (which she vows to improve) a 5 Star rating--brutal! I guess the "improved" book will be worth 10 Stars to her!
- As author of the book, I thank everyone for their kind response. I am sorry that some of the pictures are not real clear but you must remember that these company plates were salesman sample pages some from the late 1900's. The newest pictures are from 1954. Since the book has been selling for six years now and has sold over 20,000 copy someone must be satisfied with the book. Watch for our new Roseville book coming out by the end of the year. It will be a collectors size book with all the pictures and prices plus place for all your information.
- Somewhat better organized than the other Roseville books, however, the quality of the photos are horrible. Looks like they scanned low resolution images from a catalogs. A lot of incomplete model numbers in the pictures. If you buy this book you need to buy another Roseville book as a companion so that you can validate the information. I doubt the author is actually a collector.
- This is much better organized than the other Roseville books, and very comprehensive. However, the quality of the photos is much worse since most are pictures of catalog photos. And many have incomplete model numbers in the pictures. Too bad!
- The Bomms' have amassed the finest single historical description of Roseville's output ever compiled, period. Several other people have produced excellent books but none as complete as Bomm's. They managed to access and photograph a nearly complete collection of Rosevile's catalogue pages which, if not pretty, definitively reveal the item number (get a magnifying glass) of each displayed piece.
I don't vouch for prices quoted, but the information is irreplaceable.

4 comments about Occupied Japan Collectibles: Identification & Value Guide.
-
I collect older (collectible) MADE IN JAPAN and OCCUPIED JAPAN items and therefore I have quite a few books on the subject(s). This book is not complete but quite helpful. Photos are nice.
Many different volumes have been written on this subject. Infact, I own many other books on this same subject.
When "Occupied Japan" collectibles were issued there were sooooo many different items sold, that it would be impossible to include all of them in just one book. The author tried and did a good job though.
- while the author gives many photographs, she lacks identifying marks for the items and in my opinion, is not correct on her values. however, she explains her process in the beginning.
- Great value. Book was new and cheaper than market prices. The shipping was fast. I rate this transaction AAA+++
- This identification guide to occupied Japan collectibles covers everything from dishware, teapots and salt shakers to toys and figurines, providing an excellent mix of small color photos for identification and accompanying values and history. Occupied Japan Collectibles is an essential acquisition for any interested in collecting items from occupied Japan.
