1 comments about Collector's Guide to Art Deco: Identification & Values (Collectors Guide to Art Deco Identification and Values).
- This book was published in 1997, but values are updated for the year 2,000. Wonderful 224 page book contains more than 600 large, full color, sharp photos. Major topics range from bar ware, clocks, dresser accessories, to smoking, statutes, tableware and vases. It contains much text on the origins and development of Art Deco, and each section contains useful information. It also includes facts on reproductions, manufacturers and marks and a comprehensive bibliography. Art Deco collectors will enjoy and refer to this volume often.

4 comments about American Art Pottery: A Collection of Pottery, Tiles, and Memorabilia, 1880-1950 : Identification & Values.
- This is a highly personal volume, based largely on the author's own collection and interests. But this takes it well beyond the typical collector's book. Sigafoose manages to revive the vanished America of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, putting American art pottery in its social and cultural context. Especially fascinating are the many postcards, factory views, advertisements, and catalogue pages that show how the makers of art pottery presented themselves to the world. "Large gaudy vases and highly colored pictures look cheap and commonplace," advises one such ad. "One small [art pottery] vase, costing perhaps a dollar, will do more to give that touch of elegance and refinement to the the home than any other one thing."

- I know Dick Sigafoose personally, and he knows his Art Pottery. This book is well written and beautifully illustrated, and covers all of the major art pottery studios - from vases to tiles. Every page is filled with good, clear color photos, plus detailed information on the studios that produced these works of art. I highly recommend this book to art pottery collectors - both advanced and beginners.
- This is a lovely book. Beautiful pictures. The collection concentrates on Art Tiles rather than Art Pottery. Great articles on the companies histories. If you collect Art Pottery Tiles this book is for you!

1 comments about Stemware of the 20th Century: The Top 200 Patterns (Stemware of the 20th Century).
- The photographs of the etching patterns in this book are deporable. I know that taking photos of clear glass to display the etching pattern is not the easiest thing to do - I do it on Ebay all the time - but the attempt failed miserably here. I call it a waste of my money.

1 comments about The Potter's Primer.
- I teach an evening college class and this book has been an excellent resource. It poses - step by step - exactly what to do and how to do it. The photography is superb - allowing students to derive their own ideas from what they see. For the beginner, I couldn't recommend it more. Excellent addition to any art lovers book collection.

- There clearly has been a need for this book for decades. This book is the culmination of years of work, no doubt! What a treasure to have. I've read them all, but for a collector, this is the only "bible".....

2 comments about Pottery and Porcelain Ceramics Price Guide (Antique Trader's Pottery & Porcelain Ceramics Price Guide).
- This is a useful book. Many people tend to reach for the Kovels guides as a first resort, and I must admit I do so sometimes myself. But some of the more general guides they do are not as well organized as they could be. This book is organized well, contains a relatively thorough listing of the more common types of pottery and porcelain (although many of the more obscure types are not listed at all). The pricing part, alas, has the same problem that so many other reference books on collectibles deal with today, that being the effect that online auctions have had on pricing. So it may not reflect prices you'd see on Ebay or Amazon's auctions. But the prices give one a baseline from which to work, and seem accurate with regards to most markets. And the book is a convenient size to slip into your bag when you go to an antique store or live auction.
- This is a nice book, but not broad enough, very limited on pieces displayed/reviewed. Also, the known makers marks for the companies included within the book are few and far between. Not every company represented in the book marks are shown, they should be. It makes a difference when trying to figure dates of manufacture etc.
