  1. I was looking for a book to help me identify my logo on a crock I purchased on vacation. Since I could not find it online, I decided to buy a reference book to help me. This book has some great pottery in it, and gives approximate values for them. Unfortunately for me, it does not help identify pottery. Good book, just not what I wanted.

  2. Hello out there.I have alot of reference books and I now consider this book as one of my favorites. It has a nice small section on Red Wing and Western Stoneware, but mostly good old salt glazed pieces. If you collect old Eastern Salt Glaze with Cobalt this book will help.

  3. I purchased this book to find out more about decorated stoneware. This book is basically a haphazard listing of pieces that were auctioned off at different auctions. The descriptions are not always above or below an item. Sometimes they are very hard to follow. The prices are the actual auction price. No information on how to tell where a piece is from, that is not marked. No easy way to read this book.

  1. This book was in wonderful condition, but it did not have the information I was looking for, my mistake. It seemed to take a little longer to recieve than I thought it should, but that was because I was anxious to look up information I wanted.

I have since sold the book on Amazon.

  2. A very good book for reference. I have used it many times looking at thing I'd like to bid on and wanted more information on the origin and value

  3. Wonderful book about a wonderful company. HLC is one of the oldest companies in the USA which continues to operate successfully. It's famous for Fiesta and restaurant china, and in earlier years for an endless array of household patterns. In this book Jo Cunningham does a sensational job of documenting company history, along with hundreds of popular as well as rare patterns made from 1873 through 1939.

  4. A well researched and well written guide. Readers like pictures and this book has lots of bright and colorful pictures with descriptions and information. The book gives insight into Mr. Laughlin and his pottery. I recommend this book to all collectors of Homer Laughlin.

  5. This is a must have for Homer Laughlin collectors. Get a feel for the life, times and area that produced the largest American manufacturer of dinnerware. This book is packed with information that you just can't digest in one setting. I'm constantly referring to it and learning something new everytime.

  1. The Marples are fabulous researchers and in this book developed a way to identify many pieces of early RSP by keeping a data base of decors and molds and cross referencing them with known and marked pieces.

A Great RSP collection is not complete without some of these early pieces!

  2. The Marples have done wonderful research in this catagory of collectible porcelain. They established a data base matching decors and molds to document and identify previously unidentifyed pieces. This book shows pieces from the "Early Years" of the Rheinhold Schlegelmilch Firm. While these are not as high priced or elaborate as the later pieces, they are treasures in themselves. This is a well researched and written book...a must for the R.S. Prussia Collector who wants a well rounded collection.
