4 comments about Fiesta: Warman's Companion (A Warman's Companion).
- The book is is the perfect size for carrying around but the greens are different on every page so it's impossible to tell what is Medium green and the lighter green. If that is not an issue for you though, this book is great.
- This is a very compact, nice sized book that you can take along with you. It's well written, is packed with information but the BEST part is that it is ORGANIZED so you find what you are looking for even when you are all excited about your new find! Excellent.
- I wasn't sure what I had until I got this book. It helped me identify my fiesta collection
- Great little book for Fiesta fans, this little book is easy to tote around to antique stores, the pictures are great and piecess are organized with suggested values and prices next to the pictures. I like it better than the Huxford book.

3 comments about Homer Laughlin: Decades of Dinnerware.
- I love this book. It is a great advantage for the collector and seller. There are so many patterns to help identify a piece you may have. The up to date price list was wonderful to receive. The price list is for 2010-2011. I would highly recommend this book for a Homer Laughlin collector or seller. Diane
- This is a comprehensive and necessary resource for those interested in learning about this major American china manufacturer. It only adds to my appreciation of HL's vast array of products over the decades, and makes my own small collection all the more valuable to me.
- I've recently become fascinated with dinnerware from the mid-twentieth centurty and have collected many individual pieces manufactured by Homer Laughlin. This book allowed me to identify the patterns and shapes of these pieces, as well as the dates they were manufactured.

1 comments about Blue and White Transfer-Printed Pottery (Shire Library).
- I was dissapointed in this book. I bought it hoping for a good guide to identifying tranferware patterns. It has a lot of history, a large section on how the transfers and copper plates were created - this took up about 1/2 the book. The second half of the book had some more history about the different manufacturers, and some history about how the patterns and tastes changed over the years. There were actually very few examples of the different patterns - maybe about 40 different designs were listed, which is not a lot considering how many hundreds of different designs were produced during that time. No prices or values.
This book is good for the history and background. But not for identification.

5 comments about Collectors Encyclopedia of Hall China.
- Since I just recently began collecting Hall Victorian Teapots, this book has helped me SO much with learning about the Hall China Company and especially their teapots.
I am very happy with this purchase. I use the book a LOT.
Thanks!
- The book arrived in a timely fashion and was in very good condition. Thank you.
- This is a great book for collectors of Hall China. It's very detailed, in full color, giving the date on which each item was introduced, the date on which it was discontinued and the price range. It features dinnerware, kitchenware, refrigerator ware and other Hall products It is indeed a wonderful encyclopedia.
- This is a great coffee table book as well as a reference for all who love Hall's china. It contains many photos and much information on the well-known Autumn leaf pattern that so many remember being in Grandmother's cupboard, as well as unusual patterns never before seen by amateur china lovers. I even found a garage sale purchase that I had never been able to identify! I recommend for all collectors as well as those who simply want a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Great for the baby boomers!
- A lady I know worked in Halls china in East Liverpool Ohio, she loves looking at the book and telling stories about the plant and the time she worked there. She has a lot of the china and I find myself collecting it. This book is a great help, and I am very thankful to have found it.

3 comments about Gaston's Flow Blue China Comprehensive Guide (Identification & Values (Collector Books)).
- I'm been a collector of Flow Blue China for many years and have several books about Flow Blue. I must admit this book is my all time favorite one. Not only does it have lots of information concerning this china, it also has so many lovely pictures. Flow Blue china has increased in value so much since I first started collecting it. This book has certainly helped me get the best for my money. It shows so many of the different patterns and pieces with the marks to help you identify them. It looks lovely on my coffee table. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you purchase this book.
- One of the best books on the subject. Weak area is china from areas other than Britain.
- The author has done her homework with this book of flow blue items. It's easy to follow and very well put together. Great reference book - great reading!!

5 comments about Pictorial Guide To Pottery And Porcelain Marks.
- Nicely laid out book with lots of information and pictures of Pottery & Porcelain and their Marks and contains a comprehensive reference list for further reading.
- I have hundreds of collecting , price guide and reference books for antiques. As we all know, a price guide does not mean much, unless you have the venue and buyer to get the price. This book is the best investment in a reference books I have ever made! I buy and sell antiques and feel that if I can identify the mark, the research is easy. This book makes it easy to find the mark! I purchased this 2 years ago, and have used it everyday! This is a must have if you are a serious porcelain collector.
- The good news: this book has thousands of photos of ceramic items with their backstamps. The bad news: there are many inaccuracies of company names, typographical errors, errors of dating, and other errors. Given the over 7000 photographs in the book, perhaps it is to be expected that there was insufficient proofreading or fact checking before the book was published. The book is interesting to browse, but it has not been a reliable reference book. However, it is useful as a jumping off point, when used in conjunction with other reference materials.
- This is the first mark identifier I bought and was really impressed with the color photos of the marks along with an example of the piece. I was able to identify and date many of the pieces from my collection and date items I've found since buying this book. It became very handy when it came time to clean out my great aunt and uncles home this past winter. That being said, I've since discovered there are many marks not included or variations missing, i.e. Nippon marks and Frankoma. The dates on some are too broad. The color photos are nice to have but some marks or the coresponding piece did not photo well. I understand no guide is ever complete, and if you were to compile every single mark and variation this would probably be a multi-volume set. For me, this book is a good starting point, but I usually have to use other sources to narrow down dates.
- I have been using this book faithfully for over a year. I enjoy that it features actual photographs of the marks as well as examples of the pottery. It is easy to use and until this week I have found it to be reliable.
The Moorcroft marks do not have entirely accurate dates. This is why I am giving it only 4 out of 5 stars. If I had done this last week, it would have been 5!

2 comments about Contemporary Ceramics.
- This book offers a wide-ranging look at contemporary ceramic art, with emphasis on the 'art'. Not a book on pottery, though vessel forms are included. Rather, it gives a broad survey of contemporary art executed in clay. The format offers a few images per page with a brief discussion of each piece, all organized by general themes and approaches. The sheer range of styles and ideas is a treat, from ironic post-modern appropriations to meticulously crafted objects of beauty, and from political activism to personal introspection to pure aesthetics: in short, the full range of what's happening in art as currently manifested in clay. Cooper discusses technique when relevant, but this is not a how-to guide. He also deals with content and context where it is foregrounded, but it is not an art-history text. The many illustrations (small) and descriptions (short) make this a sampler of goodies, rather than an in-depth treatment, but well worth the nibble.
I first encountered it when it when it was purchased by the library of the college where I teach ceramics, and I kept it checked out for quite a while, as every student who saw it seemed to come away with new interest and expanded sense of possibilities. I missed it after it was returned, and finally purchased my own copy (not something I do often).
Many books on current ceramics are of relevance only to those already interested in clay, and focus on objects that are of interest mainly to clay buffs. This book, however, is likely to be worthwhile to anyone following current sculpture in any medium, while offering new and exciting works even to those well-versed in contemporary ceramic art.
- An incredible book for an incredible topic. Great photography, great selections. It was a gift to me, a newly-obsessed student of pottery, and I couldn't imagine a better gift to someone like me.

3 comments about Dinnerware of the 20th Century: The Top 500 Patterns (Official Price Guides to Dinnerware of the 20th Century).
- A nice comprehensive look at dinnerware in the 20th century. Good for the coffee table even though it's a paperback. I wouldn't bother with price guide. eBay re-sets prices on a monthly basis, I'm afraid.
- As a fan of mismatched china, whose collection has been profiled in the New York Times, I recommend DINNERWARE OF THE 20TH CENTURY to both expert dealers and novices who love to entertain in style.
Organized alphabetically first by manufacturer and then by pattern name, this guide is illustrated with hundreds of full-color photographs. And it contains all the the information you will need to buy, store, care for, display, replace and value every known piece of the 20th century's top 500 china patterns.
Complete with a glossary of dinnerware terms and a brief history of every manufacturer, DINNERWARE OF THE 20TH CENTURY is a highly recommended reference book for anyone who appreciates a well set table.
- Regina McMenamin
- As a novice dealer of new and antique dinnerware, this book has been an invaluable resource for identification and valuation. You will not learn a lot about any one manufacturer in this book because it focuses on the most desirable PATTERNS, featuring clear photos and basic pricing information. I find myself leafing through it often, even when I'm not looking for a particular pattern. If you don't specialize in one manufacturer's wares, but buy and sell a lot of different patterns, you really shouldn't be without this handy reference book. I hope Mr. Rinker will team up with Replacements to produce Volume II - The Top 1000 Patterns, 501-1000.

5 comments about Collecting Head Vases.
- [[ASIN:1574323571 Collecting Head Vases: Identification and Value Guide]
A GREAT help on my venture of collecting head vases!
- This reference book has many well done photos of head vases with values at the time of publication. However, there is little detail about any of them and many vases are marked as the maker is unknown.
- Excellent book well done. Wonderful display of head vases. He has divided his ladies into catagories. He includes cleaning tips, repair tips, head vase websites and best of all and added plus he has a numerical index in the back of his book very very helpfull to finding that special lady fast when you are checking out prices on Ebay. If I could only purchase one collection book I would purchase Dave Barrons book.
- I was a little unhappy with the book. I had inherited 2 original ladyhead
vases from a deceased Aunt. I couldn't find either one in the book. I
wanted more info on the collecting of the vases and the book was lacking
there too. I should have gotten another one that went into more detail.
- The book is in great condition and exactly what I exected and useful to me. However the process after the purchase from Amazon takes far to long. A month for a book is rediculous.
