2 comments about Taking Tea With Clarice Cliff: A Celebration of Her Art Deco Teaware.
- I forget how many used books I've bought thru amazon.com, and I've yet to be disappointed. The book arrived on time, securely packed, and the condition was as good as new -- at a fraction of the original price. Also thanx to worldofbooksusa for fulfilling the order promptly and securely. I'll be back for more!
- As a collector of Clarice Cliff, I read almost anything relating to her. Clarice was way ahead of her time. She was an uneducated British girl in the 1920's who through hard work and brilliant ideas became a pioneer in art deco ceramics. Leonard Griffin is a master scholar of Clarice and this book was another one of his carefully reviewed study of her work.
Identifying her teaware as a celebration is absolutely true. Almost 80 years later, her work is more collectible than ever and it is fascinating to read how she evolved her designs and manufacturing ideas into the most beautiful teaware.

5 comments about The Teapot Book.
- I am thrilled with this book, it is more than just a teapot book, it explains so many of the problems that we have as potters, making a teapot that pours nicely, that the lid fits well and doesnt fall off during the pouring, that the spout doesnt twist crooked in the firing and just so much more, styles, ideas and a few glaze recipes as well, very well put together and I will find this book a must to buy for the serious potter
- Even though I handbuild, and the emphasis in this book leans toward thrown ware, I like this book very much. It showcases a broad variety of artists and their working methods, including pencil sketches, from functional to funky. It offers guidelines for functionality and aesthetics of the components of a teapot, as well as troubleshooting tips and basic glazing technique. The gallery of work showcased is atypical in that the descriptions of the pieces are often short paragraphs, outlining process, instead of the usual two or three words telling you what cone they fired the works to.
- This book is a must have for anyone who is pursuing the art of making teapots. It addresses so many things you wouldn't even think of. For example the author discusses what makes a teapot pour properly, methods for making lids that don't fall off while pouring, what forms keep the tea hot longest, and many other helpful tips. Also, it isn't a tough read. Each section showcases work from various artists with different methods of creating each peice of a teapot. I find this book very engaging and informative. It is a must have for any potter who plans to make teapots on a regular or semi-regular basis. If you are a person who enjoys tea, you may also like this book as it would demonstrate what you should look for in a teapot as well.
- Having only just received the teapot book and scanning it I definitely like what I see. It looks to me like there is some very nicely laid out step by step explanations for making different forms and great tips on putting the infamous teapot together. Cheers, Cheryl
- I have been doing ceramics for five years, and specialize in teapots. This book has helped me immensely, including design and techniques. I highly recommend it.

5 comments about Precious Moments (R) Collectors Value Guide (Collector's Value Guides).
- I found this book very easy to use and helpful. I wanted to get an idea of the price of my individual pieces, in case I decide to begin selling them to a local store. The book is well organized and inexpensive.
- This is a GREAT book for a Precious Moments Collector! They have pictures of ALL PM merchandise, figurines, plush, ornaments, plaques, etc. I would recomend this book to a fellow collector. This is also a great book for a new collector. The only thing is that the book is a little pricey.
- This book is a necessity to all PM collectors. It is a bit pricey but is well worth the cost. This book provides excellent pictures of figurines as well as a alphabetized and numerical index that can be used to locate the specific figurine.
- This guide is awesome! It is so complete in it's content that you can find any piece ever made by name, category, or item #. Full color, easy to use and carry around while shopping.
- Excellent book for a collector. However it's kind of pricey for a catalog that most collectors would like to buy every year to stay up with the latest info.

5 comments about Restaurant China : Identification & Value Guide for Restaurant, Airline, Ship & Railroad Dinnerware (Volume 2).
- In this second volume of her series for collectors, Barbara Conroy shares the details of hundreds of manufacturers that produced dinnerware for restaurant and transportation companies. The section on each manufacturer includes a detailed history, examples of the backstamps they used (along with date charts where applicable), copies of period advertisements, and *lots* of fantastic photographs showing the range of wares produced. This book is an invaluable reference, and a must-have for the serious commercial dinnerware collector!
- I have had this book for 3 months and still have not put it down. Great source to I.D. all kinds of china and the date codes. I can't wait for Volume 3!
- I have been using both of Mrs. Conroy's books extensively for the past 2 months in preparing for the biggest research project I have ever done with restaurant, railroad, steamship, and hotel china. Book 2 on the date codes has been a lifesaver. It was not until about 2 months ago that I really realized just how much time and effort she had put into it making these possible. Having a handy reference (especially for backstamp dating of pieces) is beyond valuable. It is a "masterpiece."
- A superb reference book for the serious collector / dealer. The appendix sections devoted to distributors, restaurants and hotel chains are special interest. Often collectors interests are in a narrow field - such a book helps to widen their appreciation of other collecting opportunities.
- Two Words - "Invaluable Resource!" Any collector of Restaurant China should not be without this identification and reference guide. Can't wait for Volume 3.

2 comments about Glass & Ceramic Baskets Identification and Value Guide: Identification and Value Guide.
- I purchased this book to help me identify an unmarked glass basket that I purchased at a flea market. Not only did I find the basket, but the book gave me background information as well as an old advertisement of the line. The book has many photographs and provides prices for each featured item. I highly recommend the book for research and identification purposes. It is well done.
- Lots of individual color pictures , but no illustration for marks, no history of manufacturer, no index, poor organization.

1 comments about Knowles, Taylor and Knowles: American Bone China : With Price Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- This book is an excellent adjunct to the more commonly seenMary Frank Gaston's Encyclopedia. Kearn's book contains over 150photos of Knowles, Taylor, Knowles pottery, with a strong focus on the famous Lotus Ware (sometimes referred to as American Belleek), and Meredith and other jugs.
Kearns went straight to the source, the Ohio Ceramics Museum in East Liverpool, Ohio, for information about this pottery's wares. He gives us a history of the company and the different types of pottery it created when it ran, and tonnes of photos of the various pieces still available to the collector today. His prices do not reflect the impact that online auctions have had on the collectables market, but that is a common problem with reference works today, and should not deter you from buying this book.

1 comments about Collector's Encyclopedia of Lefton China/Identification & Values.
- I was disappointed in this book. Beautiful pictures and ok info, but not enough examples of Lefton china. I have several inherited pieces which are clearly marked. Found only 1 in this book. I guess if you can afford to buy a large library of hardback books, finally you find what you are looking for.

2 comments about Porcelain Repair and Restoration.
- A very good and complete book covering everything for the restorer of ceramics. Would've given 4 and a half stars if possible. The half a star off is because I still had unanswered questions after reading the book and because there is some professional mumbo jumbo in there I don't understand.
But on the whole, just a good book.
- Good book, but doesn't have information about non-toxic restoration products. Healthy repair products are a serious concern. You can find the non-toxic products at www.antqrx.com or call (515) 832-2437.
