5 comments about The Galaxy's Greatest Star Wars Collectibles Price Guide 1999.
- A very nice book with lots of basic information about lost of different Star Wars collectibles (you name it, and it's probably in there). There are lots of full-color sample pictures, but you will not see pictures of EVERY item in a given category (i.e., all action figures). My favorite part of this book is that it actually provides a brief description of every single trading card and sticker (and there are about 1000 vintage cards and stickers... and a lot more new ones, which it also describes). Card prices are broken down by full box, empty box, unopened pack, just wrapper, complete set, and each individual card. Figure prices are included for just about every possible card variation, as well as for a mint/complete loose figure. The bad news is that the prices for the action figures and trading cards (that's mostly what I collect) are often far too high. I don't remember buying or selling for such high prices either before or after this book was written. Finally, I don't think you need both this book and the 2000 pocket size edition by the same author. If you want more detail, go for this larger edition. If you want something that travels well, go for the pocket edition. They are basically the same book, you just have to decide if you want detail or portability (keeping in mind that the prices quoted in both are probably far too high).
- THINK AGAIN! THIS BOOK IS VERY HELPFUL IN IDENTIFING WHAT YOU HAVE. BUT...IF YOU LOOK THRU THIS BOOK AND THINK YOUR GONNA MAKE A KILLING ON EBAY, THINK AGAIN! THATS WHAT I THOUGHT. ITEMS ARE ONLY WORTH WHAT PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY AND MOST OF THESE PRICES SEEM HIGH. ACTION FIGURES AND RARE ITEMS ARE PROBABLY MORE "IN SYNC" WITH THE STATED MARKET VALUE THAN ALL OTHER ITEMS.
- I have recently goten back in to collecting Star Wars stuff, and found the book very helpful in finding items that I never knew existed. With the popularity of online auctions, some of the prices are not really reflecting the "market value" of some of the items, but it does give you a baseline to work with. It explains things in an easy to understand way, and won't lose you if you aren't a hard core collector. There are a lot of photos to help out.
- This is a very good book. I bought this book last year, and even though there are a few photo errors, (a few pictures had incorrect titles), this book is complete and the content far exceeds any little flaws you can find. This book shows prices of pratically every Star Wars item ever manufactured, from Star Wars paper bathroom cups, to Star Wars bed sheet. From posters, pins, magnets, to action figures, movie theater promos and tons of foreign Star Wars items, this book has it all complete with prices and color pictures. Buy it, you wont go wrong.
- Great Book, color photos were excellent, a hand full of photo title errors, but overall great book. Detailed listings covering every posible Star Wars item, and prices.

4 comments about Professional Wrestling Collectibles.
- Overall, a very well researched book by Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe. This book does not cover all wrestling collectibles, that would be impossible, however, it does give the collector a good idea of the many areas in wrestling that are out there to collect, although they do have a very in-depth coverage of the action figures and autographs.
The book also covers some of the history of wrestling and is a great book for novices and long-time collectors. There are great photos of some of the older collectibles that I have only heard about. My favorite chapters were the ones on the action figures, trading cards and autographs, which make up a large part of my 15+ year collection. The prices listed are average, however, the value of the items in this market change so rapidly, that its hard to give a set value on some items. 5 stars to Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe for tackling such a huge task.
- Pro Wrestling Collectibles is certainly what this book is all about. Its all the other stuff covered that makes this book so interesting. My favorite chapter is number two (2) "Some Superstars Worth Collecting". The history about many of these wrestlers can be found no where else. The authors did a great job in organizing this "collectible" and putting every thing into perspective. Recommended reading for all wrestling fans!
- The book provided terrific reference material and continually captured my attention from page to page. The pictures added tremendous detail. The author clearly did his homework.
- This is a good book filled with lots of pictures and information. It is a good book for anyone but for the hardcore collector it does not cut it. Aloso the prices are a bit off on certain items. Overall the pictures make it a worthy purchase. Reccommended!

3 comments about The Complete Encyclopedia to G.I. Joe (Complete Encyclopedia to G. I. Joe).
- An excellent resource for anyone collecting GI Joes past or present. I can finally be sure that the vintage Joes I'm collecting are coming with ALL their accessories! The price guide in back is the first place I start before I buy a figure and helps me budget for future additions. BTW, the color section is 6 pages of vingage Joes, 4 pages of 3 3/4" Joes, and 6 pages of the Hall of Fame 90's Joes. I hope you do another edition and pick up all the great new Joes too.
- jhjdshjka kjhsdjhfdj fdahfjh
- If you love the 1990's GI Joe Hall of Fame figures, by all means purchase this book. Half of the color section of this book is devoted to those figures. If you are looking for a good overview of the entire GI Joe era, buy John Michligs book and skip this one.

4 comments about Official Price Guide to Role Playing Games.
- Price guides come in two types. The first type are ones that are well researched and reflect real world prices/values as determined to the best of the authors' ability such as the Overstreet Comics Price Guide. This one is in the second category, those that function solely to help dealers convince people unloading their collections that whatever they have is not worth much and that the dealer would be 'doing them a favor' by taking the material off of their hands. While 90%+ of RPG material sells for cover price or less in Near Mint+ condition, there are some very valuable items which this book does not address or otherwise undervalues the items (at 1998 prices even).
This book also fails as a comprehensive reference book for several reasons. One, it dates from 1998, so it's not reflective of modern materials. Two, it is incomplete for many second tier publishers. Three, magazines are some of the most collectible items, and quite a diverse field - yet, this guide is woefully deficient at covering them. Four, publisher product numbers are absent - particularly strange since all lists done of the main line of RPG collectibles, TSR products, include the publisher's product code number. Five, index and table of contents are very weak and inadequate for what information is in there.
Avoid this book except for a very cheap clearance priced copy as the internet can, in most cases, provides better lists of published RPG items. The prices in this book do not reflect real world sales.
- As an RPG collector, I've been looking for a good desk reference (I live & breathe the Internet as a reference tool, but sometimes it's nice to have an old-fashioned book...).
This particular book is part of the Official series (They have many useful books of the type for collectibles: Coins, stamps, sports cards, etc.) and written by RPG veteran Timothy Brown. On the surface, it shows much promise. With a 1998 copyright date, this includes most RPGs up to the dawn of the D20 rules.
On the plus side, it is well-organized with games listed alphabetically by game system. Brown also does a good job telling what components belong to a particular game accessory (ex. Is this module supposed to come with a poster map?). Cover price, year of release, authors, companies, and occasionally a very brief description are included.
Unfortunately, Brown neglects to include product numbers (ex. TSR 9143), making RPG research more time-consuming. This flaw is shared by the otherwise superior "Heroic Worlds" (ISBN 0879756527 HC; 0879756535 PB). Of course, the values given for the RPGs are completely obsolete given the rise of eBay since the book's publication.
Summary: Useful, but not necessary.

Wayne's World of Books
- Do not be fooled by the words "price guide". The books fails profusely in that department. It can be used as a list of role-playing games, but there are plenty of those, most of them are better than this. Try to avoid this books if possible. I see no reason to buy it.
- This book purports to be a price guide, but it is a mystery as to where the authors pulled out the prices for the products listed. The prices are way off from what items have sold for at any conventions I have attended or others have attended, on usenet marketplace newsgroups or on ebay. I can only conclude that the authors picked out the prices at random. The only redeeming point of the book is the listing of RPG material published. But since this book's title states that it is supposed to be an official (according to whom?) price guide, and that this was the primary reason for its publishing, I conclude that this book is a total failure as a price guide that will serve no purpose for the purchaser of old RPG material. In short, this book should be avoided at all costs except for use as kindling material.

2 comments about Zippo Advertising Lighters: Cars & Trucks (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- Advertising and Automobiles-A perfect advertising media for The Zippo! This fantastic book celebrates an era when people were not ashamed if their cars were gas guzzlers or if they (gasp!) smoked. All the greats-Ford-Hudson-Cadillac are here in brushed chrome splendor. Of interest is the tremendous coverage of the
Tucker. What a wonderful reflection of how things used to be. Thank you ,Philip Taggart for a wonderful reference piece.
- It's a large coffee table type with colorful dust jacket which is duplicated on the cover. Not too much reading, but just enough to give you all the information you would need or want about Zippo lighters for both cars and trucks. (Mostly cars) Lots of detail, up close pictures of lighters and drawings from their design to colorful finished product. If you're into cars or Zippo lighters and want a book you will find hard to put down once you start looking and reading, this book is for you. I have never seen anything like it, and believe it will have wide appeal. If you see it, you'll want it! It's 190 pages and not a dull one in it.

3 comments about Forever Lounge: A Laid-Back Guide to Languid Sounds.
- I was thrilled when I first came across this book, someone finally did a price guide for the kind of LP's I was collecting. Unfortunately the book didn't turn out to be all I was hoping for when I bought it. It is useful as a discography for the artists listed and seems very complete in that respect but I wish it contained more and better examples of classic LP cover art and more biographical information on the artists. I suppose this may be asking too much from a price guide type book. But even as a price guide this book seems a bit off. Although there are exceptions, almost all of the records are listed as being worth $3-5 or $7-10. Now as a collector I think it would be great if record dealers would adopt this as their official pricing guideline, but if you are buying these type albums anywhere besides your local thrift shops you are probably forced to pay more than that for these records, sometimes a LOT more ( at least that has been my experience). In fairness, I guess it wasn't too long ago that you could pick most of these records up for under a buck almost anywhere, but original LP's of lounge and space age bachelor pad music seem to be going for premium dollars these days and a recent price guide should more accurately reflect that. BOTTOM LINE on this book...Should you buy a copy if you are into this type of music? Yes! by all means. While this book does miss the mark a bit (in my opinion) there is precious little information published about this type of music and this book is one of very few available on the subject. While I was initially somewhat dissappointed when I first read the book I have gone back to it on numerous occasions to look something up and I am glad to have it on my shelf. The discography type information alone is worth the price of the book and there is a bunch of other pertinent information included which is also useful (websites, etc.).Most of the book is taken up by the price listings but I did enjoy reading the text that is there and found it informative as well. Now if I could just convince my local record dealers to sell me those Esquivel and Three Suns albums at this book's prices.
- This volume is cleverly as composed as the best of lounge entertainment
- Anticipating a great catalogue and price guide for lounge music, I was somewhat disappointed in this publication. Too much page space is given to the discography and price listing and too little to a beautiful presentation of the covers which are so essential to this style of music. All the good stuff(photos and text) inhabits verticle strips on the edge of the pages. The covers are poorly printed with a dull look. The pricing seems pedestrian and not detailed enough. Too bad because the list of artists is large and largely accurate. Sort of a 70% effort.
