2 comments about Collector's Guide to Tinker Toys.
- This very enjoyable and informative 205 page, Tinker Toy guide book contains more than 400 large, full color and black and white, sharp photos that collector's will be sure to enjoy. Even those who aren't true collectors will find this book informative, and enjoy memories of days gone by. In addition to the great photos, there's plenty of information included and excellent descriptions of items. Prices are provided, but they're 1996 pricing. Every type of Tinker Toy is featured, ranging from Action Toys, Art Sets, Bead Toys, and Construction Sets, to Quester and Playskool. There's plenty of box photos and advertising pieces. There are nice sections featuring items by years. This is an outstanding reference, certain to be enjoyed by collectors.
- After finding several boxes and cylinders of Tinker Toys I needed to find out how much they were worth. A collector friend of mine suggested this book, and after purchasing it, it was worth it. It had every item that I had and then some. It gave prices for each, and a picture for most.

5 comments about The Illustrated Collector's Guide to Led Zeppelin (Volume II).
- This is a book devoted entirely to the collecting of Led Zeppelin non-commercially available recordings (Yes, the infamous bootleg of lore!) and that's pretty much it. Well researched, but listing only CD bootlegs and no vinyl recordings, this is a book for the hardcore Zeppelin collector only. My copy featured a CD that had a interesting interview with the group's guitarist, Jimmy Page, I'd never heard and my being a hardcore collector and fan I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
- Having collected Godwin's books since 1984 I can say that this one was as good as any other. Some reviewers have noticed it doesn't have everything in it. That's because it is VOLUME 2! The rest of the stuff out there was in VOLUME 1. Also this book was published in 1998 and obviously doesn't include the hundreds of new titles that have come out since then. Godwin has never reviewed the performances since his first book. He has always said that his opinion on the band was irrelevent. I would much rather have an objective opinion about the recordings than Rey's tantrums about whether Jimmy was good or not. It is also the only book with pictures of all of those bootlegs. When Godwin's first book came out it helped me avoid buying crap boots. It has been doing that ever since.
- I cannot recommend this book. I'm an avid collector of Zep shows, and was amazed at the falsehoods printed in this book. This is also not a complete guide. I found myself looking in this book for several widely available boots that are either not listed, or lists tracks or other info incorrectly. If you're interested in reading more about Zep in concert and live tapes, get Luis Rey's Led Zeppelin Live.
- Mr Godwin takes his book one step further, and enhances it with the medium of CDROM. Its so much fun exploring this CD, because you never seem to get to the end! There is always something new to look at! If you are a collector of Led Zep live CDs, then this book is also very indespensable in terms of guiding you on what is what. This CDROM can keep you from wasting your money on something that you don't want. Plus, Mr Godwin includes LP records in this version, which wasn't in the previous printed version. Recommended! A++++
- A great update to the original volume, which saves the Led Zeppelin "live recording" collector lots of time and money! If you collect Led Zep bootlegs on CD, then this book is for you!

5 comments about Coca-Cola Girls : An Advertising Art History.
- An important book for students or all people who apreciate Coca-Cola advertising history. But the print quality of this book is very bad and the rason I gave only 3 stars rate. I have many others books about Coca-Cola and comparing some pictures on this book I can see a serious problem of quality of picture reproduction. The magenta canal, the black canal at the scannering time is not correctly adjusted. The reproduction of originals have primary errors! I hope this review sound like a special attention adivise for the editors. Don't do that please!
- The Coca-Cola bottling company was a major influence on the popular culture of America and the western world throughout the twentieth century. Their marketing slogans, images, and icons permeated every level of society. Never was this more true than in the case of the "Coca-Cola Girl", an image of perfect, wholesome, energetic American beauty that graced all manner of advertising in all medias. Now in a single volume, Chris Beyer presents a unique, accurate, detailed, magnificently illustrated history of Coca-Cola's advertising showcasing the use of women to promote an image encouraging the American public to make the beverage a part of their daily life style. Coca-Cola Girls: An Advertising Art History is a fascinating stroll down through the decades of the twentieth century that will appeal to the nostalgia of its readers and is a highly recommended addition to any Americana and popular culture collections.
- Long before "the pause that refreshes" became a national catch phrase and "Coke" a euphemism for any soft drink, there were the Coca-Cola models - winsome rosy-cheeked young women often engaged in a domestic task or posed invitingly with frosty glass close by.
While always smiling, the Coca-Cola girls have many faces and all of them are stunningly reproduced in this full-color volume brimming with illustrations from the Coca-Cola Company archives. An 1897 advertisement features a Victorian lady seated primly on a pillow, while another from that era introduces a pensive miss seated at her flower bedecked desk with pen in hand. A Coca-Cola bride smiled at us in 1906, while a 1919 shot presented a beautiful girl against an early airport scene. Of course, the 1940s war years showed women in uniform, and the 1950s brought girls at work and play. Perhaps the most appealing illustrations are from the brush of N. C. Wyeth. Whatever the case, history buffs, Coca-Cola collectors, art connoisseurs, and those who simply want to remember will find much to enjoy in this colorful archival volume.
- A wonderful book! This book is a walk through the history of Coca-Cola's eye for the beauty of woman. Each photograph shows the incredible detail that went into creating the delicate feminine art that would sell the old-fashioned soda for many years. I encourage you to sit and read the exciting history that has been written with great knowledge. I have enjoyed each and every page. If you have any interest in Coca-Cola this book is sure to pull you into the fascination of the world of Coca-Cola's history.
- a delightful romp through the history of using sex to sell soda pop. and you thought it was only cars, cigarettes and alcohol that got sold that way.... A concise examination of cokes use of the female form in advertising over the last century

5 comments about Diana - Collecting on a Princess: Collecting on a Princess.
- I received this book for Christmas and after reading through it, I still can't believe that any publisher would have accepted this 'lack of substance' and put it between covers and actually try to sell it. Not one thing that I own was in this book, not 1 cup, not 1 plate, not 1 figurine, not 1 book.
I gave the book back to the person who gave me this gift and asked them to return it...it has no place in my collection!
- I was very disappointed with this book. The only good thing I can say about it is I am thankful for Amazon.com's generous return policy.
I didn't like it for two reasons: A. I am a serious Diana collector, and most of the things from my collection were not even listed in the book. B. The valuing of each item was very vague. If your an "expert" on Diana memorabilia, you should be able to quote more exact amounts.
- I purchased this book at a Diana Dress Show in Spartenburg SC where Mr. Nobles attended. I have found this book and the contents to be very accurate and the author to be very knowledgable about the history of Princess Diana. It is not a large or thick book and is in paperback however the contents are very informative. I would reccomend this book to any collector of Princess Diana memoribilia. Mr. Nobles is a very intelligent man of whom I am glad to have met.
- This book was a great new additon to my libray i have many items in this book and it helped me figure out exactly what my colletion is worth. it was pleasure to read and i find my self using all the time when i am on ebay. thanks Mr Noble for putting together such a wonderful book. i will always refer to it when ever i need some information on a particalr piece. - I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this book, it is NOTHING like I hoped it would be. There is absolutely no substance inside the covers....fluff and trash. Sorry, but I have to warn others of this disappointing book!

2 comments about The Collector's Guide To Cine Cameras.
- I grew up in the 50's / 60's, had my first Film Camera as a 15year old boy and many more thereafter. The book brings back lots of memories. Some of the beautiful pictures almost put "butterflys" in my eyes...It is written VERY WELL with useful details and interesting stories about the history of Movie Cameras. Like any book, there are some slight discrepancies here and there, but in general it is VERY diligently written and technically interesting and CORRECT.
I love it, it's well worth the price and I recommend it to anyone that was involved in the early (double) 8mm amateur and/or even 16mm pro area..!

2 comments about Barbie Exclusives: Identification & Values Featuring : Department Store Specials Porcelain Treasures & Disney (Barbie Exclusives).
- If you have any love of the English language, and are able to tell good photographs from bad ones, you will truly dislike all of the books by this woman that I have read, including Barbie Exclusives volumes 1, 2 and 3. The text is virtually unreadable, almost completely devoid of any real information, and is generally a painful experience. The photographs are almost equally bad, ranging from grainy yellowish shots, to lovely ones in which box-front glare almost obliterates any details of the doll inside. Truly, you can do much better than this series! Try the Collector's Encyclopedia of Barbie Doll Exclusives and More by J. Michael Augustyniak.
- Excellent and informative book. Was able to locate dolls and pricing from book that I could not find in other books! Great pictures, comments and descriptions!

2 comments about Santa Claus.
- This book is full of cute colorful photos of modern Santa items, and when I read that it featured photos of Santa Claus items from a Collection, I bought it and was expecting some collector-documentation info.
A few of the items have info captioned underneath their pictures, (midway through the book one caption says: "Miniature ornament (1 3/8 inches high, 1995. Hallmark") but most do not have any caption at all.
The book's Amazon description said:
"This book is the perfect stocking stuffer for collectors and anyone who loves Christmas."
I disagree...it is not "perfect" for collectors because the book is unpaginated and unindexed(annoying), and most of all because most of the items are unidentified. While some Santa items are identified as Hallmark, Lego, etc. many other Hallmarks, as well as other items are not identified at all. (For documentation on Hallmark, best to buy one of the many books about them, or get their free annual catalog.)
So, if a reader sees an item and wonders who made it, when it was made, and how to find it, the reader is mostly out of luck. One cannot go looking for an item, even on ebay, without some kind of identifying info.
Identifying the items would not have been difficult, in many of the cases, as the book features mainly relatively modern Santa items by current companies such as Enesco, Hallmark, Dept 56, Possible Dreams, Fitz and Floyd, etc. It is a mystery that some items are ID'ed while most are not.
The book's Amazon description also says, in part,
" .....he opens up his vast collection, presenting 420 full-color images of the best, most hard-to-find pieces he has gathered."
I would disagree, and as a Santa Collector, I think there are very few hard-to-find pieces in this book. Many are modern Hallmark Ornaments, and other massed produced pieces from 1973-present.
Size wise, it is a small chunky book, and is too small for my coffee table, and does not fit well onto my library of books on Christmas Collectibles.
Still, I rated it in the middle, at 3 stars, as it is simple fun....so for those who simply want to enjoy the whimsy of viewing the various recent Santa products the book is OK as a pure jaunt. For the Santa collector, it is, to me, unfinished...awiting documentation of each item pictured.
-
I bet this lovely, chunky little book will make an appearance every year with all the other Yuletide decorative keepsakes that families everywhere unpack each December. It's just bursting with Santa images (420 in fact) in all sorts of styles though most of them are three-dimensional. The book is beautifully designed and very graphic with a Santa on each page.
All of the items come from the collection of Luca Sacchi (the book was originally published in Italy) who fell under the spell of the fat man in 1989 and so far he has collected 1900 pieces. There are not many really old examples, a 1930 German metal box with Santa on the lid seems the oldest. Most pieces were probably produced in the last couple of decades, either for sale in America or Europe and probably made in the Far East. As well as plenty of tree ornaments Santa pops up in all sorts of guises: a sugar bowl, music box, a 1950 Celluloid bank, costume jewellery, cookie cutters and lots of those ceramic and resin tableau's put out by the collectibles industry.
The appeal of the book is such that it will be enjoyed by everyone but especially your kids while you struggle, this year, to put up and decorate the biggest tree ever.
