4 comments about The Encyclopedia of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles.
- This is the only Pepsi guide book that I have, and I'm not real happy with it. It is inadequate, hardly scratching the surface of all the Pepsi collectibles out there.
As with most other collectibles guides, the back index leaves much to be desired. I guess the author agrees because he omitted it completely. Big mistake. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of Pepsi guides out there, like there are for Coke. But that doesn't mean this one is the "bible" of Pepsi collecting; it doesn't come close. I'm hard-pressed to figure out why others have written such glowing reviews for it. It's pretty, but it's incomplete, the prices are all over the map, there's no back index...but there's very little competition.
- A very nice reference book and worth the money for collectors or fans of Pepsi.
- The Encyclopedia Of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles is an amazing resource for collectors and dealers. Nearly the entire book is devoted to full color photographs of everything ever made by or associated with Pepsi-Cola, from slogans and trademarks to containers, cardboard inserts, cans, bottles, caps, a wide array of merchandise and much more. Offer a wealth of historical and background information on the Pepsi-Cola bottling company, along with authoritative and reliable price estimates for Pepsi-Cola collectibles, The Encyclopedia Of Pepsi-Cola Collectibles is a superbly presented and essential guide for the dedicated Pepsi-Cola enthusiasts!
- A brand new, year 2002, hard-bound library volume containing 256 pages with more than 2,000 large, full color, sharp photos of every type of Pepsi collectible. Current values are shown. Items are listed by category, including signs, containers, novelties, toys and accessories and paper items. Sufficient text is included, covering Pepsi Collectibles, Reference Guide, History of Pepsi, History of Pepsi Trademerks and Advertising Slogans. I found the "Paper Items" section particularly interesting. Add it to your library.

4 comments about Collecting Japanese Movie Monsters.
- Dana Cain's book is an enjoyable, well written guide to an increasingly popular sub-category of monster toy collecting. No book on pricing collectibles is likely to remain current for long, and its real value lies in providing the reader with a pictorial overview of its subject. COLLECTING JAPANESE MOVIE MONSTERS succeeds very well in this, and its text provides some lively historical background into that singularly odd period in cinema where colossal creatures used Tokyo as a ring and we watched guilt-free. Note to "serious" Japanese movie monster collectors: don't take it all so seriously. Those responsible for the men in the monster suits didn't.
- While not perfect, this book is better than the earlier reviews said. The book is very well illustrated, and most of the pictures are very clear and sharp. To say that the pictures come mainly from a Toys-R-Us is simply false: The vast majority of the toys pictured are items not even distributed in the U.S., to say nothing of the movie posters, magazines, etc.
Any price guide is eventually going to be out of date. Many of the prices in this book are still current, although there are several that are not. I did find a couple of errors, where a picture was incorrectly labeled. To be fair, Sean Linkenback's book has similar errors and in many examples his prices are more dated than Ms. Cain's, plus her book includes items not even listed in his. Yes, Linkenback's book is more in-depth, but it has its flaws too. As with other kinds of price guides, thinking of a single edition as being all encompassing or definitive is a mistake.
- This is not the first price guide on these toys. Sean Linkenback's was the first and much better than this.... Ms./Mr. Cain should research the subject before saying what prices are. Linkenback is a respected dealer of Japanese toys and thus infitely more qualified for an endeavor such as this. Cain, you should take a research class.
- I was really looking forward to this book, and unfortunately con not find much to recommend about it. The listings are woefully incomplete and many times inaccurate. Photography is only so-so, and is mainly filled with items from the local Toys-R-Us. A better book to get would be "The Unauthorized Guide to Godzilla Collectibles". The one bright spot is the 14 pages on Gamera, which while could be better is finally altogether under one cover.

5 comments about Gi Joe: Official Identification and Price Guide 1964-1999 (Collectibles).
- I am no expert at gi joe collecting but I did not find what I was looking for in this book. It has very nice color pictures but is extremely specific and repetitive. This may seem good for some people but not for me. It does not include the spec for the Deep diver, vehicles and some equipment. Also it does not include many boxes that you can easily see on the net. I do not know if I can rely in its price guide also. The book is mainly focused in showing one pic of single items and in describing the subtle differences between one series and another of the SAME figure in almost all cases. The format is in two column and you have to go reading from the top to bottom and to the top again so it becomes kind of confusing to read at first.
I will conclude that this is a nice book if you are looking for specific information and not if you are looking for a visual aid to see what item goes with what to complete your collection.
If you want it anyway try to find the lowest price.
But anyway do not forget to HAVE FUN!!!
- A straight-forward catalogue of Joe figures and accessories from the beginning through the 4" era and on to today. Black & white pictures are plentiful. Not the book for blissful page-flipping and reminiscing, but definitely the place to turn for organizing your collection.
- I would like to correct a statement made by reviewer Andrew Walls regarding the "official" status of GI Joe: An Official Identification and Price Guide (1964-1999). This book, like others written by Vincent Santelmo on GI Joe, was licensed and the manuscript was reviewed and approved by Hasbro Inc. As Acquisitions Editor at Krause Publications, I was involved in every step of this legal process. I can understand the reviewer's confusion since many publishers don't take the necessary steps nor commit the time and expense to create licensed or "official" books.
- This book has some useful information on uniform and figure variations, but it is far from being a complete guide to G.I. Joe. For a more complete reference to every vintage boxed and carded figure and equipment set, check out this authors other book, The Complete Encyclopedia to G.I. Joe (1997 Krause Publications). Although it is primarily black and white, it is the most complete and comprehensive guide to in-package G.I. Joe stuff. When I first heard Vinnie was doing this book, I assumed it would be as complete and comprehensive as his previous book, only in full color, with a focus on individual and out of package stuff. While there are values for individual pieces of equipment, and many sets are photographed out of package, not every set and piece of equipment is covered, mentioned, or even listed in the book. This is obviously not due to a lack of knowledge on the authors part, but may be due to publishing considerations. I can only speculate. Perhaps Vinnie only had a limited number of pages to work with and realized he wouldn't be able to get it all in. If that's the case, perhaps he should have omitted the sections on 1980's and 1990's Joes and focused exclusively on the vintage 60's and 70's stuff. I like the format and the idea of the book, it just seems as if it's only about 1/4 complete. As a supplement to Vinnie's other book, this is okay, but don't expect to gain a comprehensive knowledge of Vintage G.I. Joe from it. This book was not licensed or approved by Hasbro, so the term "Official" in the title is somewhat bogus.
- A very informative and concise detail presentation of the 'Singled Boxed' GI Joe's and the 'Packaged Sets' he was sold with . Wealth of detailling; Right down to the different type screws used on some fiqures. Well done. A 'must have' reference for any serious collector.

2 comments about Vintage Anheuser-Busch: An Unauthorized Collector's Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- Was led to believe the book had all collectables
listed. It had none of my twenty items. It was a waste of my money.
- A beautifully put together book. It is mostly a picture guide of AB breweriana with a small but very informative amount of text. The book is divided into sections and most of the items pictured are dated in the captions. The prices quoted are almost all above the current market value. The variety of items covered, the historical information and the wonderful photos combine to make this volume a definite "must own".

2 comments about Military Flash.
- This release from Spider Webb is another great collection of vintage tattoo flash from an era when strong bold lines and clear visable images was the key to any sucessful shop. The collection includes what appears to be some Bill Jones and Milton Zeiss flash amoung others, though I wish the author would include the artists with the individual pieces . I understand this is sometimes difficult givin the age and rareity of his collection but some identification would help .My only complaint is that some of the flash from this book and his "HISTORIC FLASH " collection is the same not many but you notice it .A larger format would be a great idea as well as most flash went on an 11 >< 14 size (zeiss excluded)and it would be nice with the perforated pages he provided to be able to display them in their true scope .
Pick this up if you are a fan of TATTOO art in its grandest form !
- I just recieved this book from Amazon and could not put it down. Spider Webb has taken some of the most saught after flash pictures and compiled them into this one excellent volume on Military Flash. Of course this book is not for everyone, but for folks like myself who traveled through life looking back at the years I spent at Sea in the US Merchant Marines and walking through tattoo parlors from Corpus Christi,Texas to Baltimore City you can remember veiwing so much of this book hanging on the walls as flash in many different shops. I'm now 53 years old but of course I still sport the sea-going tattoos that I recieved some 35 years ago. I always loved the WWII Navy & Maritime tattoos that I grew up looking at on the arms of most of the guys that fought in the Big War while I was still a kid. This book even has some flash that goes back to the Spanish American War...pretty cool huhh.
If you love tattoo shots of Sailing Ships, Anchors, Mermaids, Daggers and of course the famous "Sailor's Graves" and "Rock of Ages" then this book is also for you. Yesterday while looking through this book my 8 year old granddaughter was sitting on my lap looking with me and she was enjoying these neat pictures as much as I was!Get a copy it's more then worth the price! "ENJOY" Joe Kopeck U.S.M.M.

2 comments about Fast Food Toys (Schiffer Book for Collecton).
- Keep an eye out next time you're rooting around in your attic.
If you come across one of those old toys you'd get with a Happy Meal, it could be a collector's item. So says "Fast Food Toys," by Gail Pope and Keith Hammond. This is an interesting and unique book that is sure to send college students across the nation into fits of nostalgia. Remember the McDonald's mainstay food offerings that would transform into robots? Or, better yet, the ones that would turn into dinosaurs? I haven't thought of Quarter Pounder Cheese O-Saur or Mac-O-Saurus Rex in years. And now collectors are offering three to five dollars for them. My younger brother, Steven, obtained these six toy aliens from Wendy's years ago, in 1990, that he carried around with him forever. We never knew one of the characters' names, but finally, after a decade of wondering, we know the answer: Crimson-oid. Yello-boid. Spotta-zoid. Lime-oid. Blu-zoid. Purpa-poid. They're all in the book. Just not where we put them. But if they ever turn up, and Steven's willing to part with them, he can get three to five dollars for each one. But even if you're not interested in selling, the book is worth it just to see some old friends again. "Fast Food Toys" is like a trip back into time, as movie and television promotions abound. Shows like "Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers," "Kisseyfur,""Dinosaurs" ("Not the momma!"), "Tiny Toons" and so much more will suddenly re-enter your consciousness like a bolt of lightning. These are the toys that were worth hassling your parents into going and getting a Happy Meal for, not the unsophisticated items being offered today. Best of all, they have pictures of the plush Noid I got from Domino's. Remember the Noid? Aside from a brief cameo appearance on an episode of "The Simpsons" last season, he doesn't seem to be doing too much. Here's hoping the Noid turns up next to ALF and Terry Bradshaw on the next 10-10-220 phone commercial. Ah, ALF. It really is a good time to be a child of the '80s. This probably sounds really nerdy, but it's exciting to see color photos of each and everything you ever got by going through the drive-thru window. Turns out only the food was fast. Looks like the toys are forever.
- Nearly every toy listed in "Fast Food Toys" has a photo with it! I find this to be a necessity that other toy collecting books lack. There is a great selection of modern McDonald's toys as well as toys from other fast food franchises. My only wish is that Pope and Keith would have included pre-1980s toys.

5 comments about Peanuts Collectibles: Identification & Value Guide.
- Wonderful and warm. Shows the heart and soul of Peanuts collecting. It's not just a price guide, it's a friend.
- This book was an big disappointment, and not as advertised. It only contains an small amount of information on Peanuts Collectibles. I would not recommend it.
- If you are looking for a single book that displays a wide variety of Peanuts Memorabilia, this is the one for you. I was surprised to see almost every item I've collected over the years presented in this book. The only downside that I found was the lack of space given for plush items, and toys. Nonetheless, you will not be disappointed.
- A wonderful 296 page book loaded with 2,700 great photos in full color. Packed with information on the characters, copyright data, selling your collection, Peanuts Collector Club. Covers all areas, including banks, books, cosmetics, display accessories, dolls, figurines, housewares, music boxes, seasonal, stationery, toys, and more. Contains year 2000 values. Plenty of text, in addition to the listings. A real treasure you'll enjoy reading and using often.
- Ten times better than the first, Andrea has put her true expertise into this perfect handbook for all the crazed fans of our favorite Beagle. So many beautiful pictures of Snoopy-Stuff. GOOD GRIEF I LOVED IT. Two enthusiastic paws up.

4 comments about Beckett Racing Price Guide and Alphabetical Checklist (Beckett Racing Collectibles and Die-Cast Price Guide).
- Folks, let's make this nice and simple, Beckett Price Guides are the most accepted price guides in the world PERIOD No other racing price guide even comes close to the popularity of Beckett. Collectors the WORLD over look enthusiastically for each new Beckett release. As for this book, I dare say you will not find another publication that covers its listings in greater detail. This book lists thousands of cards and hundreds of die-cast car values. With the card listings, many sets are given a value along with vital information about each one. Then many sets are broken down into listings for each individual card and a value placed on each card. There's listings for vintage sets as well as some of the more popular ones. Photos are included as well as special notations about things like error cards, rare subsets and the like. This guide will be a big help to anyone interested in the racing hobby. Beckett guides are the ONLY ones I currently use.
- Soon after the release of the Beckett Racing Price Guide, the Beckett Racing & Motorsports Marketplace monthly magazine drastically reduced the book value of most trading cards. In doing so, Beckett rendered their own Beckett Racing Price Guide useless. The racing trading card enthusiast would be better off subscribing to the monthly magazine.
- Beckett Price Guides have been around forever. With only the third edition printed specifically for auto racing cards, this has quickly become the only guide you'll need to evaluate your entire collection!
- Dr. Beckett has done it again! The Beckett Racing Guide #3 is a must for all Racing and Die-cast collectors. The book has listings by card and die-cast manufactors, by years and has a alphbetical listing for all of the drivers. As a card collector I rate this book very high because it is very imporant to know the card number, year printed and it gives two price listings on the condition of the card. A+++

5 comments about The Official Price Guide to The Beatles Records and Memorabilia: 2nd Edition (Official Price Guide to the Beatles).
- This book is absolutely terrible, I don't know why they use the word memorabilia as there is hardly anything in it except records, I paid over $50 for this and I wouldn't give you a dime for it if I had to do it over again
TOTAL dissapointment on my end
- I'm not knocking this entire book; there's a lot of good info in here. What bothers me is that the supposed 'gospel' and 'official' price guide failed to accurately describe the availability of a certain Beatles Collection - BC 13 - Limited Edition box set released in the United States during the Christmas Holiday /December 1978.
As the facts still stand, this "retail release" was available to the general public, in stark contrast to Perry's statement of being only available to Capitol Record executives and industry affiliates. This type of sloppy journalism results in the creation of false perceptions in the market place...
- The book is awesome. And a must if you are a collector.
I cant wait until Perry finaly releases his new book!
- If you want to learn anything about Beatles records, you are much better of getting copies of Bruce Spizers books, and tracking prices on Ebay. Forget about this overrated and out of date waste of money. I wish I found out before I blew a bunch of money on Ebay.
- It doesn`t matter if you have been collecting the Beatles for years or a novice just starting out, this book has something for everyone.Chock full of details like label variations and year of release. What better way to find the value of your record collection than by the experts, and Mr. Cox certainly is that.He has been writing the only official guide to the Beatles records for years. Now,this book is in a handy size so you can take it along to yard sales where you`ll know if you`ve found that treasure or not.For ebayers, this book is a money saver. No more,"I sold it too cheap cause I didn`t know the value" Highly recomended.
