5 comments about Digital Nude Photography.

  1. Amazon has be amazing for me while deployed to Iraq and now in Korea for a year. Thanks Amazon.

  2. I found this book very helpful as there are very few books written aimed at digital photography. The only complaint I have is the same complaint I have with most books like this and that is the movels are all young and appear to be professional. The authors of most books like this almost never use "lady next door" types and all have perfect figures. Most of the models I have to work with are slightly older and don't posses perfect figures. Other than that I found this bood to be very well written and illustrated. The Photoshop Elements section was also helpful.

  3. I'm glad the author didn't use children or puppies. The women in this book make much better subjects. This is a great introduction to a genre of photography that has not been well-represented in the digital imaging field.

  4. While it's possibly not the greatest book on nude photography or digital photography, it's a good intermingling of the two.

It provides a reasonable amount of detail on how to get the best out of digital cameras when taking nude photo's. Photo's are good, and the information provided is good enough to enable you to start taking your own in short order. It covers both camera and computer basics.

Overall a good introductory book on the subject.

  5. Very heplful book for beginners in the world of shooting nudes. Great suggestions with regards to models, posing, lighting, camera selections, and much, much more.

5 comments about The New Nikon Compendium: Cameras, Lenses & Accessories since 1917 (A Lark Photography Book).

  1. This is a great book to get all the info related to the large variety of Nikon products. However, I had the impression that it might help me price some Nikon gear I am interested in selling. It does not. When I read the review, before purchase, my impression was it would assist in pricing my equipment. What it perhaps does, is impress you with the rarity or widely produced models, so you can try to determine if it is worth some money. Otherwise, the book lived up to my expectations of a very comprehensive collection of data on the very varied line of Nikon camera products.

  2. I had read the early ediction, but this new is superb. This is the best companion book for all Nikon owners!!!!

  3. Compared to the former 'Nikon Compendium' this book has a lot more pictures and was of course expanded to include all the models up to the date of publishing. I got the impression though that it has not been reviewed very well before going to press : there are quite some editing errors (line breaks in the middle of sentences or words f.ex.) and grammar errors that could have been avoided if the manuscript hadn't been rushed to the printer. I also expected more in depth comments on the lenses and some camera models - the stress has clearly been laid on the digital bodies. Some accessories have been omitted or important details have not been adressed at all (just an example : the fact that early filters had chrome rings and later black rings - a detail, but something worth noting IMO). The book missed a chance to really be THE reference book on all things Nikon. Otherwise, lots of pages and pictures for the money!

  4. A thorough and well done work on the history of Nikon. It is better in my opinion than another book titled "Nikon - A Celebration".

  5. An excellent resource for those tbat use the Nikon brand. This is the best book I have read on Nikon products and Amazon has the best price.

1 comments about Tibet: An Inner Journey.

  1. This is a welcome addition to other books published in recent years by Ricard. While it reproduces some photographs that can be found in The Spirit of Tibet and Monk Dancers of Tibet (in themselves, wonderful books), Tibet, An Inner Journey is Ricard's fullest photographic offering to date, closely covering a number of events and aspects of Buddhist life in Tibet, with an extensive focus on the Tibetan people themselves. I can't imagine another book that brings this people so close to the reader. It makes a persuasive plea for humanitarian assistance to preserve them and their unique Buddhist heritage.

1 comments about Concepts of Nature: A Wildlife Photographer's Art.

  1. A very general book to give you an overall feeling about wildlife photography. Have most of his books and he has addressed the specifics of taking images before, but here virtually no technical info provided. Buy this if you'd like an OK coffee table book but not if looking for substantive guidance.

4 comments about Illuminated Initials in Full Color: 548 Designs (Dover Pictorial Archive Series).

  1. Just wanted a closer view of the illuminated artwork that the monks used to do in their holy books.

    This book delivers

  2. This is especially helpful for letter-illuminating ideas, though you need to know what you're doing because there are no guiding instructions.

  3. I didn't get as much from this book as I'd hoped. It is beautifully illustrated.

  4. This was not what I expected. The letters are back to back so you will need to make a copy of the page you want otherwise you cut into the letters on the back of the page

5 comments about The Most Beautiful Villages and Towns of California (Most Beautiful Villages).

  1. TRULY WORTH THE PRICE. AN EXCELLENT BOOK OF CALIFORNIA PHOTOS AT AN EXCELLENT PRICE AND FAST DELIVERY- THANKS !

  2. This book is filled with colorful lush photographs of California towns and villages. It is for memories and admiration, not information. The photos are carefully posed for the most romantic interpretation and atmosphere. Some of them present an illusion.

I live in one of the towns and had to laugh. In one group of photos, if the photographer had simply turned 180 degrees you would have seen a 4 lane boulevard heavy with semis, trucks and cars on weekdays and tourists on weekends. In another series of pictures just up the road, the 101 freeway was less than 50 feet behind the photographer. It is choked with cars at all times of the day and night and comes to a standstill if there is an accident.

Still, the book presents a lovely picture of a California that exists as a Shangri-la. It is enjoyable with the above caveat for those of us who live here.

  3. Was a gift for my husband and he was thrilled. We both loved the photography and reminisced as we had visited alot of the places in it. Can't wait to return. This is a great book for those who think that California is just freeways and clogged cities without charm and visible beauty.

  4. A book worthy a beautiful state! Images of glitzy LA or cosmopolitan SF frequently overshadow the many other destinations featured in this book. Of course being an overview, the towns listed here are given as cursory highlights without much depth. Nonetheless, the book tantalizes like a plate of appetizers. The diner will have to follow up with his own entree should he want to savor a particular site.

  5. Nice book with good color photographs of CA villages and towns. This is a neat series of books for a trip souvenir or a gift, etc.
