2 comments about James Dean Collectors Guide.
- I'm not actually a James Dean "collector" yet, but I am so fascinated by him. The book was very interesting and informative, loaded with enough information. I'm sure it would be very helpful to any James Dean fan. I just may try finding some stuff on eBay!
- This book is a must for all Dean fans.It has every item that has ever been made or written on Dean.......It is very informative and has lots and lots of pictures......I am so glad that I bought this book.

5 comments about The Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide, 2002 Edition (Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide).
- Simply put, page after page have inaccuracies and incomplete information. If a novice like myself can find the errors it makes you wonder who in the heck the "experts" are. Do they proof read this before it goes to print? I am talking EASY things that most guitar players know.
It is just disappointing that a book that has an impact on market pricing is so inaccurate.
- This price guide is a good reference book for anyone interested in buying, selling, collecting or edjucating themselves on used and vintage guitars, basses, and amplifiers.
- Excellent guide !! . It's the most complete guide I'd ever seen..
A good source for collectrors and not collectors too. Good Descriptions and details.. And very very complete..
You will find every intstrument you are looking for.
- One can rarely perform any complex and important task, be it manual or cerebral, with a single tool. Research on any subject is a prime example; a single reference source is never adequate. This guide, while not as complete or exhaustive as some might like, is simply one of many reference tools, and an extremely useful one. Were the guitar market static, it might make sense to put together a voluminous compilation aspiring to be all-inclusive and unerringly accurate. But the guitar market is anything but static and this guide simply provides the best "snapshot" that it can at this particular time.
I must disagree with those other reviewers who say the prices in this guide are so vastly off the mark, and that ebay represents the new paradigm in pricing information. My own experience during the last few years has been repeated instances of wishful sellers justifying their asking prices by pointing to the "Buy It Now" prices of the burgeoning numbers of "Power Sellers" and "ebay Store" entities. Those prices obviously have no significance in defining the current market, because the vast majority of the listings expire without generating a single bid. Even more interesting are the numerous cases in which sellers have said that their guitars sold, at or above the asking prices, and then a month or two later the same sellers have the same guitars listed again. Were it to happen often enough, such fraudulent generation of apparent sales could help drive the market upward, just as those sellers are obviously hoping.
While ebay sales represent valuable pricing data, the authors of this guide have certainly tried to exclude sales to apparently collusive buyers, and probably weighted their analysis in favor of those sales that generated numerous bids.
- This music collector's reference represents the only volume covering all the collectible guitars of the industry, and sets industry standards when it comes to determining market values of collectible guitars. Both musicians and collectors will want to keep this guide at hand: it blends quick-find page headings and an index and dealer directory for the entire country with an examination of what makes a guitar collectible. Add black and white photos and paragraphs of maker and model history and you have a price guide which can't be beat: a must for music collectors and guitar players alike.

2 comments about Hollywood and Early Cinema Posters (Christie's East).
- An outstanding collection of posters from the earliest days of Hollywood film. The images are full color and very high-quality, nearly all are full page. A tremendous bargain, too - you'll never find be able to experience a collection like this outside of a museum.
- Bruce Hershenson's poster books are an extraordinary value. The poster reproductions are gorgeous. A remarkable visual treat.

5 comments about Star Wars Scrapbook: The Essential Collection.
- This book is so cool! The entire layout is so unique! An outstanding design! There are rare photos inside that I have not ever seen before (and I own all the other STAR WARS books!!)
THIS IS TRULY FANTASTIC - FOR A TRUE COLLECTOR!!! May the Force be with you!
- Leave it on the coffee table, watch your visitors pick it up and turn the pages and see their faces light up!
- The lady from Lexington is absolutely correct: "This book wasn't meant to be read--it was meant to be flipped through and enjoyed." If you want text and information, try Sansweet's "Star Wars: Concept to Collectible" or The SW Encyclopedia." This book is interactive fun, clever, fascinating, exciting and just plain cool!
- I just went through my copy and found it most interesting. A perfect conversation piece for any one with Star Wars knowledge. I just thought it was lacking in text and information. If you "read" it it only takes about 15 minutes. What you need the book for is the pictures and repro artifacts that would be most difficult for the average fan to obtain.
If you are looking for a reference don't look here. If you want some thing neat to look at, this is it. Put it on the coffee table and let your house guests enjoy!
- This book wasn't meant to be read--it was meant to be flipped through and enjoyed. Steve Sansweet has included a small (I've seen pictures of his house-this is a REALLY small) sample of his ultimate Star Wars collection. From the toys we all remember to rare and foriegn collectables, the strange and bizarre and the nearly normal (anyone else remember C-3P0s cereal?) it is all here. And to fully appreciate it, you really need two copies--one to keep and one to punch out the interactive pages: these are recreations of real Star Wars cutout toys! (All discretely marked as repros, of course.) For Star Wars fans of all ages, this book is a must. We can't all own Steve's collection (rats!), but at least we can enjoy a little of it.

- What a shame that this comprehensive study is not adequately illustrated. A meager assortment of badly-copied black&white reproductions. What a spectacular item it would be if there were SOME repro's in full COLOR...

5 comments about Star Wars - From Concept to Screen to Collectible.
- I have been a big Star Wars fan since the first film was released back in 1977. I used to own many of the old action figures and played with them all the time up until my grandmother gave them away to the Goodwill. I picked up this book in 1997 just as I was getting back into collecting Star Wars figures once again. This is a very detailed book with lots of great color photos. Seeing the pictures of all of the older toys brought back a lot of memories. And it makes you stop and think about how much your old collection would have been worth if you had saved it. I recommend this book to anyone who is a true Star Wars fan and collector. You will not be disappointed.
- This is definetly the best book on Star Wars I've ever read...
The beautifully designed coffee-table book takes the reader through the process of creating the Star Wars galaxy and then turning it into one of the most successful toylines in history. There are tons of photos depicting vintage Kenner toys as well as other merchandise.
The illustrations come with quite an informative text by journalist and collector Stephen J. Sansweet -- truely an expert when it comes to Star Wars toys.
- A must own for fans of the collectibles spawned from the greatest space fantasy of all time. Sansweet takes you through the entire process that brought about the Star Wars experience and gives details about little known information surrounding the film's creation, collectibles and magicians who brought it to life. A nostalgic trip into the past to relive three great films accompanied by crisp, clear photos. Check it out.
- If I were to teach a class on the history Star Wars and Star Wars collectables, I would definitely use this as one of the textbooks. It is a very well written and interesting book. It contains lots of great pictures, including early drawings of movie characters made before the movies were ever created, as well as pictures of a variety of collectables (including both prototypes and finished products). Also contains lots of interesting factoids. This is not a price guide or a comprehensive guide to Star Wars collectables (so if that's what you are looking for, this is not the book for you). But if you want to learn about the Star Wars universe (literally from concept to screen to collectable), this will be a great addition to your library.
- A beautifully written book -- Sansweet is the reigning expert on Star Wars (have all of his book, with the Scrapbook and Encyclopedia being my favorites). I just had some quibbles with some of the design elements in it but it's a wonderful edition to my library nevertheless.
