2 comments about The Wizard of Oz Collector's Treasury: Collector's Treasury.

  1. I only have 1 complaint about this book: it needs to be updated every few years!! This Oz "reference book" is an absolute must-have for Oz fans and collectors. It's like looking through the Christmas "Wish Books" from the department stores when you were a kid, saying, "I have that......I want that......I need that...!"

The photographs are a feast for the eyes! The text is perfect. The research that went into this book is unbelievable.

If you can get your hands on this gem, BUT IT NOW!!

  2. Very imformative.Exactly what I have been looking for. I have seen the book before but never bought it until yesterday. It is a must have for any Oz collector and I am an avid collector. I love Oz.

1 comments about Disney's Dinosaur! The Ultimate Sticker Book.

  1. My 3 year old daughter has enjoyed this character filled sticker book. We did have difficulty matching some of the stickers to their proper page as they aren't marked at all. Over all this is a great way to spend time having fun with the Dinosaur characters.

2 comments about Official Price Guide to Action Figures: 2nd Edition (Official Price Guide to Action Figures).

  1. This book had all black and white pictures, and almost all of them showed the item in its package. I needed a book to help me IDENTIFY individual figures, which this book DEFINATELY DID NOT DO. I immediately returned the book.

  2. This was a very informative book. I liked the fact it went back a while to older figures I am missing, as well as all the hints and thips along the way. Kudos to Amazon for featuring this book!!

4 comments about Television's Cowboys, Gunfighters and Their Cap Pistols.

  1. I SAW THIS BOOK ADVERTISED IN ANOTHER PISTOL BOOK I HAVE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! BETTER THAN ADVERTISED

  2. This is not just a book about toy cap pistols, it is a time machine. Not only does Mr. D'angelo present the cap pistols of our youth but he reveals the actors who played the part on television. A fact filled, exhaustive research of a love he shares with us. I had forgotten many of the toys he describes. Each page brought back memories of a childhood where honor and truth was the spoken word of the cowboy. So fans of the 50's and 60's westerns, return to those thrilling days of yesteryear when all boys wore their six shooters with pride and rode into the sunset.....

  3. A masterpiece of research and delivery. This is a book I keep out and enjoy referring to every time I watch a western on TV. The unexpected benefit from this book occurs when friends notice it on the table. I thought I knew everything about people I have known for years, but this book starts conversations into childhood favorites that are truly enlightening and very enjoyable. A must have for anyone who has every watched a TV western of owned a cap gun.

  4. MR. D'ANGELO HAS BROUGHT A WEALTH OF PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE AND WARMTH ON THE SUBJECT INTO HIS WRITING; HE HAS COMPLETELY AND EXHAUSTIVELY RESEARCHED THE BACKGROUNDS OF ALL OF THE CHARACTERS AND THE WEAPONS, AND DISCUSSES THEM WITH OPEN FAMILIARITY. FOR THOSE RAISED DURING THE 50'S AND 60'S, THIS IS A TRIP DOWN TV AND THE MOVIES'S MEMORY LANE. THIS BOOK IS OBVIOUSLY A LABOR OF LOVE, AND IT TRULY SHOWS. A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTOR'S LIBRARY, AND GREAT FOR THE NOSTALGIA BUFFS!

1 comments about Collectible Bells : Treasures of Sight and Sound.

  1. As a bell collector I found this book to be very informative and helpful in identification of bells. I'm pleased that it also had a price guide included, although I don't agree with some of her prices as I've seen many items sell for higher amounts than she indicates. Since prices are always subject to change regarding collectibles,to me the important aspect of this book is the identification of bells, and that was wonderful.

3 comments about Collectors Guide to TV Toys and Memorabilia: 1960S & 1970s (Collector's Guide to TV Toys and Memorabilia).

  1. This beautiful, completely revised, latest edition, 296 page volume has colorful, laminated hard covers. There are over 1,300 full color, sharp, large photos of very type of TV toy and memorabilia. If you were around in the 60's or 70's or enjoyed re-runs of some of these shows you'll really enjoy using and owning this book. Having the book is almost as good as owning the items! It includes shows from Beverly Hillbillies to Fantasy Island, to Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Partridge Family, Patty Duke, Welcome Back Kotter and Saturday morning shows. Estimated values are shown. Very, very nice book.

  2. Tv Toys is the all time greatest book ever written for toy collectors. I haven't found anything that even begins to compare to this book. I wish that Mr Davis and Mr. Morgan would write more like it. Great job guys. Thanks

  3. This is a GREAT book for collecting TV Toys!! The book covers most hit shows from the 60's to the 70's. Ever see a Samantha doll from Bewitched? Ever see a Bewitched coloring book or a Brady Bunch Fan Club Kit? Well if you buy this book you'll see nice color photos of LOTS of TV Memorbilla!! The book has a nice forward in it by Erin Murphy who played Tabatha on the 60's hit sitcom "Bewitched". The book even has price ranges for the memorbilla listed. 2 comments about Movie Posters of the Silent Film Era To Color.

  1. It was an incredibly well drawn piece of work, and fun to color, too! It must have been a Herculean effort for the artist NOT to color it in himself! It BEGS to be colored! My children can't keep their hands off it,so I have to put it up high(it's mine, you know)Thank you for a wonderful time!

  2. MOVIE POSTERS OF THE SILENT FILM ERA TO COLOR is, as noted on the cover, a 'coloring book' in the Stemmer House 'International Design Library' series. The black and white renderings of original film posters, by Rex Schneider, are accurate and quite well executed. In some instances where posters no longer exist, they have been newly designed in the style of the period. They provide a marvellous introduction and reference for all interested in the silent film era, its stars, and the broad range of art styles 'ballyhooing' the movies from the dawn of cinema to the first 'talkies', in addition to the good fun provided all who enjoy coloring. Schneider's uncanny caricatures of such celebrated movie comedians as Laurel & Hardy, Mabel Normand, and Buster Keaton (all represented in the book), are remarkable! The book is further complemented with notes on the individual films, an overview of the evolution of movie advertisements, and a guide for coloring the posters. The buyer is also at liberty to reproduce any of the posters for private, non-commercial use.

5 comments about Black Diamond Two: The Illustrated Collector's Guide to Kiss.

  1. This book has some interesting information in it that I've never came across anywhere else. It's not very well written though. It seemed like a self published book. The organization looks very chaotic in some places and I found many places where wrong words were used or words were misspelled. I can't imagine a reputatable publisher would send the book out like this but I could see someone self publishing it. I personally don't have a problem with all the mistakes. I kind of found it interesting finding them all. Sometimes mistakes cause the writer to seem like she's not really making a point. There was one part where she pointed out that the song Rock and Roll All Nite was spelled differently on a lable (I think). She stated (Rock and Roll All Nite) was misspelled Rock and Roll All Nite. I came across this mistake more than once. I found myself trying to figure out what the difference was when both the correct and suppossedly misspelled song titles were exactly the same. This book is kind of a book version of outsider art. It might not be professionally or skillfully executed but that doesn't mean it hasn't got something to offer. This book has some good stuff in it but you have to get past what I consider an unprofessional presentation.

  2. The Black Diamond 2 book, while it is definately good to use as a cross reference with other price guides or collectible books, I have found a disturbing amount of errors in facts, not to mention bad editing and spell checking. I further believe that the author is one of the biggest hypocrates around. He reviews books in his book section and basically slams the KISS Collectibles Identification And Price Guide book put out in 1993 by Karen and John Lesniewski. He claims that it is a bad identification book because the photos are in black and white and are blurry. I have used this book extensively and found it to be super helpful. The pictures are clear and there is an eight page color section with only photos. I have found the black and white photos to be as clear and consise, if not clearer in this book than in the Black Diamond 2 book. The last thing I could say is how can you trust the information in Black Diamond 2 when the last page of the book is filled with corrections from Black Diamond 1. He didn't even know that Ace was from the Bronx!!!!

  3. Very little readable material. Just a bunch of dates and lists of people. Disappointed to say the least.

  4. Dale Sherman has done it again! He's put out another book that is essential for KISS fans.Although not near as exciting as BD1,I again did learn a lot I didn't know before. This book is pretty much for KISS collectors only. But it sure could be a life save you a lot of money and heartache by providing detailed information on imports and bootlegs you might be considering purchasing. Yes,it gets rather lengthy and boring ,but at least its honest. And for that reason ,I give it five stars.

  5. READ ME JSUT READ ME!!! THATS THE ONLY WAS TO EXPERIANCE IT

5 comments about Musical Movie Posters (The Illustrated History of Movies Through Posters, Volume 9).

  1. Want to add an excellent reference to your collection of books dealing with the Hollywood Musicals? Then this book is it. Just like those musicals from the golden age of Hollywood, this book has it all. Beautiful photographed images, lots of (techni) colours, stars in their greatest moments. Truly an Oscar winning performance! The book is printed in good quality paper and images are very clear and of good size on each page. Of course it's impossible to include a poster from every musicals in any given year, but the selections Bruce Hershenson made are excellent. A page may contain an average of 5 images while some are giving the full page treatment (e.g. Grease, Singin' In the Rain). Definitely an excellent addition to your library of movie books.

  2. With the notable exceptions of Oliver! (1968), Cabaret (1972), Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), Tommy (1975) and Evita (1996), Hollywood has essentially turned its back on a genre that this book re-captures in all its glory. The images are superb, the color and quality are sublime. Though the book is straightforward, a thread of sadness runs subconsciously from its first to its last pages, as one ruminates about what this genre was all about, what it could have been and why it is, for all intents and purposes, dead except on the New York, London and Toronto stages. From Astaire and Rogers to Gene Kelly, Streisand and even the Beatles, it's all covered here. Though it seems awkward to most of today's audiences to see a person in the middle of a scene break out into a song with no band playing behind him on screen, this was the accepted norm and was often the the portion of a film that had an audience soaring in their seats. That such a feeling has all but disappeared makes this book all the more precious, preventing this genre from fading into the wisps of memory. The beautiful thing about this book is the unexpected. Rather than delve into the expected great musicals with the standard American images (which are included in great detail nevertheless), this book includes artwork from other countries, art that is more "in your face" and thought provoking. Who can forget the image used for the Polish version of the 1972 release of "Cabaret?" (Joel Grey's face in the center of four stocking legs bent into the shape of a swastika?) This is the kind of thing that you would never have seen printed or distributed in the U.S., works of art that can only be bought for thousands of dollars today at many of America's biggest auction houses. If you are the least bit interested in the jaw-dropping beauty of what has become a lost art -- the exercise of drawing images associated with the advertising of a Hollywood film -- this is the book to have. This book is part of movie poster maven Bruce Hershenson's exhaustive multi-volume series of books highlighting the history and beauty of what much of mainstream America has only in the last ten years begun to recognize. And that is movie posters are a "popular art" form that can stand proudly next to all other styles of art from gothic to modern, from expressionist to impressionist. Great film art borrows from all of these styles and this volume, which focuses only on posters associated with musicals, illustrates innumerable examples whereby despite the restrictive nature of the genre (musicals), not all posters went in the same direction in terms of style and presentation. From Shall We Dance to A Star is Born, from 42nd Street to Yellow Submarine, Hershenson and Allen have built an incredible archive (and legacy) of images in all of their books, capturing a period (when all posters were drawn by hand and then printed, as opposed to today's method of using photographic stock and manipulating them digitally and printing them by the thousands) that would otherwise be lost forever. A fine book for any collector (get the hardcover edition if you can, it's harder to find; if Amazon doesn't have it, it's available from Mr. Hershenson directly at mail@brucehershenson.com).

  3. The best Musical Movie Poster book available today! This book has it all. Beautifully photographed and reproduced in great color this book reveals the outstanding artists, designers and photographers that created movie poster "Works of Art" from the early days of movie musicals to the current. A"must have" for the movie memorabilia collector and movie musical fan. Superb!

  4. Eye-catching poster art reflects changing styles throughout the history of movie musicals. This gorgeous collection is another highlight in Bruce Hershenson's delightful collection of poster books, every one of which is a great value and a treasure to own.

  5. For lovers of film, film history, and specifically, poster art, Bruce Hershenson's series of full-color books is the cream of the crop! And, the quality of printing and photography is superb, with razor sharp images and vibrant colors.
