5 comments about Star Wars Collector's Pocket Companion 2000.
- A very nice pocket size book with lots of basic information about a lot of different Star Wars collectibles (you name it, and it's probably in there). There are even lots of pictures (at least for its size). However, the prices for the action figures and trading cards (that's mostly what I collect) are often far too high. I don't remember buying or selling for such high prices either before or after this book was written. Finally, I don't think you need both this book and the larger 1999 edition by the same author. If you want small, go for this pocket edition. If you want more detail, go for the other larger edition (it actually describes every single trading card... and there are about 1000 of them). But you can't carry the larger edition around in your pocket!!!
- Stuart Wells is an expert on this stuff. He not only writes about it, but he collects it as well. This book even offers up a chapter on the 2001 Star Wars fast food toys that were given away at Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Designed for the fan who attends conventions and checks off stuff as he (she) buys it.
- For those of us that actually do spend all of or weekends searching for that "Holly Grail" for our collection, this type of price guide is a fabulous idea. While it obviously isn't complete, it's slim design is perfect for bringing to that collectibles show you are going to this weekend. Plus, Wells is such an authority that he really nails it as to what is important and what can be left out (he did a much larger Star Wars guide a couple of years back--but who wants to lug that book to a show?) Having written on everything from comic books to trading cards to toys, Wells sure knows what he is doing, and how to put one of these guides together.
- If you are a Star Wars fan and love to collect related material, then you'll find this pocket guide very handy. It culls listings from Wells' omnibus "The Galaxy's Greatest Star Wars Collectibles Price Guide" (1999), while adding new items and categories (There is an entire section of fast food toys that is pulled from contributor Robert J. Sodaro's book "Kiddie Meal Collectibles"--to which Wells was also a contributor). The book's slim design make it ideal for slipping in your pocket while on the prowl at conventions.
Wells and Sodaro are also contributors to "Comics Values Annual 2001" (Alex Malloy).
- This brand new, year 2000, 320 page softbound, handy 4" x 8 1/2" guide book is ideal for Stars Wars colllectibles hunting. There are more than 4,000 items in this book, with over 600 black and white, and 200 full color great pictures. The book provides a nice introduction to the collectible, and adequate information about each major heading. Topics range from Action Figures, Books, Ceramics, Clothing and Coins, to Model Kits, Paper Collectibles, Recordings, Vehicles and Wall Art. A very complete index is included to make item location easy. The item descriptions are quite complete, and the values appear to be very current and reasonable. A must for Star Wars collector's. You'll use it often.

1 comments about Collectors Guide to Theatrical Postcards.
- The contents of this book are fairly straight forward. On the right hand side of the page is illustrated 4 postcards (in both colour & B&W) and the left hand side is a biography of each of the people depicted, the date the card was published and where it was published.
Even if you don't collect postcards this is facinating book to browse through. It's full of beautifully reproduced period postcards and hundreds of short biograpies of both the greater and lesser stars of the theatrical world of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

1 comments about Vintage Hollywood Posters IV.
- This auction catalog has the best variety of items from cowboys to cartoons, comedy to crime, creatures to classics, with your basic super heroes thrown in for good measure. It is by far one of the only books you can get that actually shows some of the most rare posters of the early 1900's. I was really impressed with the images and graphics reproduced in this issue. This catalog has all my favorites in it, especially the horror films. I also really liked the idea of seeing the lobby card images pictured on the same page as the Raven and the Black Cat. I would definitely recommend this book as a reference for anyone intersted in movie posters.

1 comments about House of Collectibles Price Guide to Star Wars Collectibles: 4th edition (Official Price Guide to Star Wars Collectibles).
- It is a great book but this is 2000 and it was released in 1998. Since then there has been a great number of additions to the Star Wars Collectibles universe and the problem with this book along with any other book / price guide is usually as soon as you get it the prices have changed and numerous items have been released. For referance it is a good book just dated.

1 comments about Elvis Presley: Silver Screen Icon: A Collection of Movie Posters.
- This book is a must for any Elvis fan. Just read the foreward by actress Yvonne Craig who co-starred in two of Elvis' movies. This book talks about his movie career like no other book has done. The information is fun and educational. The book is illustrated with magnificent, unique international posters. When reading the book, it is as enjoyable as your favorite childhood storybook because the illustrations describe what has been written. The collecting section gives the novice and experienced collector useful and valuable information. This section is unique in that it describes many of the U.S. movie posters but also features information about collecting foreign posters which is not readily available to the collector. Finally, there is a special pricing section for the American movie posters which shows the increase in prices from 1983 to 2002 for the Elvis posters.

3 comments about Rock-N-Roll Treasures: Identification & Value Guide.
- Joe Hilton and Greg Moore's Rock N Roll Treasures provides a selection of rock memorabilia from posters and autographed photos to guitars, games, magazines and more. An excellent music reference for collectors.
- For anyone interested in the history of Rock 'n Roll --- and all its various manifestations --- this is truly a fun book to have. Page after page of full-color images, from all eras or rock's history, depicting the gamut of memorabilia that was produced to promote everyone from the Beatles to the Banana Splits! What is most remarkable about this book, and what makes it indispensable, are the many photos which document items that have never been pictured in any other memorabilia guide. Paging through this book is a mind-boggling, dizzying 'adventure.' I love it. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
- A real beauty of a book to whet the appetite of any rock and roll enthusiast. Great nostalgia piece. Features over 1,300 full color large, sharp photos of every type of rock and roll collectible. Provides info on valuing the items, grading them, buying them, selling them and protecting them. Topics range from the Beatles and Elvis to the Bee Gees and New Kids on the Block. Estimated values are provided. A MUST for everyone interested in this topic. Well worth the price.

1 comments about The Animated Film Collector's Guide: Worldwide Sources for Cartoons on Videotape and Laserdisc.
- This book is essential for any animation fan or scholar. It contains cross-referenced information which cannot be found anywhere else. In the week that I have owned it, I have used it at least ten times to find information I need. Now if only I had the budget to buy all of the animated films listed in the book! If you have any interest in animation at all, buy this book and become an expert!
