5 comments about Comprehensively Clarice Cliff.
- One of the most definitive pictorial and historical records packaged in a very handsome, large volume.
- This is an extraordinary achievement, leaving for dead most of the previous publications on Clarice Cliff. The research is the culmination of years of research through the Wilkinson archives, the pictures are sumptuous, and there is clear and logical indexing and referencing, which is often a downfall of books on collectibles. The flow-chart on page 19 is an invaluable tool for identification.
- I find this book to be an incredibly valuable and easy to use reference to Clarice Cliff and Wilkinson pottery. It is 'comprehensive' and so far I haven't been stumped by a pattern that I couldn't find an example of in the book. The background information is comprehensive as well and I can now put shapes and styles into an overall perspective easily without having to browse through 20 difference catalogues and books. In the last 12 years I have purchased every book on Clarice Cliff that I could and they pale into insignificance in comparison with this. The information is not a repeat of other guides available and, in my opinion, the indexing and browsing references are so good that this book should win an award. I eagerly await any further publications by this author. I also think that the price for this book was very reasonable and about half what other references of the same calibre cost.
- I am a US collector of Clarice Cliff and was very much looking forward to this book. The positive: you can find almost any pattern and the dates they were designed and fired. If you need to find a pattern or shape, it should be in this book
The negative: Difficult to discerne the valuable from the run-of-the mill. The color photos are excellent and the application of paint comes alive on many of the objects. There is some controversy whether all the designs listed are really Clarice's. But after reading so many books about her and since she was so reticent about giving information, it is more difficult to argue who designed what and when.
I use the book as a reference, not as a guide for what is the collectible. Since I believe CC's work is very hard to find in the states, it does serve as large enough range if I should ever come across a piece I must have!
- Publishers have a habbit of regurgitating these guides
I should know!

2 comments about Film Posters of the 80's.
- This is by far the greatest collection of the essential movies of the decade series. The 80's created blockbusters like The Terminator, Friday the 13th, Poltergeist, Fletch, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, Rainman, The Breakfast Club, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, Robo Cop and Rambo to name but a few. They're all inside just begging to go up on your wall and be admired along with heaps of others.
You could either keep this intact as a collection of posters in a book to show and discuss with friends, or cut the book up and actually have a vast number of posters up on your wall. This book is about a third the size of your standard film poster and most movies are full page colour. Any of them would look great up on the wall. If there's a better poster collection out there then it must be really good as this is sensational!

3 comments about Beau Men.
- *Beau Men* is an interesting, small collection of erotic art. If you're a regular reading of gay novels, you'll recognize that some of them have appeared on the covers. Some are details and the others are simple. Nonetheless, they're wonderful to look at. I only wish that there were more.
- This collection of Beau's work is just plain HOT. The images burn into your mind and permit you to construct a "pre-quel" and a sequel to the image presented to you. USE YOUR IMAGINATION and you have a whole story....HOT, HOT, HOT.
- This collection of paintings (the first of two books by Beau, a.k.a., Kevin King) is simply stunning! I had the chance to interview Beau for MEN magazine, where many of his paintings appeared, and he is as amazing as his work: Sexy, smart, refined while retaining an edge... erotic and challenging, a must-have for any erotic art collector.

1 comments about Steuben Glass : An American tradition in Crystal.
- If you are a Steuben collector or simply one interested in the history and work of America's preeminent producer of fine crystal, Ms. Madigan's book is an essential and interesting reference work. The book features many beautiful photographs of important works by Steuben's best designers. The book's most valuable feature for collectors is its comprehensive catalogue of some two thousand Steuben items produced during the years 1933-1981. Although most stock pieces are represented only by line drawings and key dimension (rather than by photography), the information furnished is usually sufficient to facilitate identification of Steuben products, if not especially helpful on issues of valuation. If you love Steuben, you will want to own a copy of this book.

4 comments about Hand-Formed Ceramics: Creating Form and Surface.
- I bought this book with the hope of learning something new. Although I did not read it from cover to cover, what I did read was too basic to be worth the money. Much of what is in the book could be learned at a beginning ceramics class in a park district class in one or two sessions. In fact, for the price, a park district class or other beginning ceramics class would be much more inspiring.
- I purchased this book for a ceramics class. I am happy that I did. I found the book easy to read and very informative. The class I am taking is an independent study and the book is my inspiration. I am working through the various techniques in the book. The pictures are inspirational and the words give you enough information to to actually make the piece as the artist did in the book.
- I actually haven't read this book, but I have learned a lot of what is in it from Richard Zakin himself. I am taking a ceramics class right now and he is my professor. I'm having a blast working with clay and the glazes that he makes himself. I would reccomend this book without even reading it!
- Zakin does an excellent job with this book. He is thorough and quite knowledgeable. The book is worth the $ just to view the hundreds of examples by various artists worldwide. Not only does he give you the technical information on clays, glazes and firing - you get the tecbniques of many potters. It would cost hundreds of dollars to participate in the workshops required to learn these techniques. If you are a visual learner and are a hobbyist or teachinng professional this book is worth the money.
