1. This book, like one I read on Henri Cartier Bresson (a photographer), is a long artistic criticism rave which just doesn't want to end. For those that like such intricate creative writing this book gives it in full. What is interesting or a bore depending on one's view is how this type of art criticism writing attempts to expand on a few aspects of art-and-artist until a whole book is written when in fact a twenty page report could have told you all you needed to know. This is art criticism for the sake of writing art criticism thus for those who like such artistic blather it is a masterpiece. Does also cover the historical continuum of the subject.

1. Contemporary Ceramics by Susan Peterson, Professor Emeritus at Hunter College, is a survey of recent ceramic art showing the work of over 260 artists, each with full-color illustrations, artist statements and brief biographies. It is not a technique book or a history of ceramics edition. It is a stunning array of artistic talent using a variety of techniques showing new artists and directions of new ceramic art. My only suggestions for improvement would be (for future reference) to include how the artists mark their work.

1. I'm not sure what I expected when I ordered this book -- probably an art book with erotic overtones -- but the product failed to please on either count. If you're looking for art photography you can pass on this one. The photos are reasonably well made from a technical standpoint but there are only so many ways to make self-portraits of a pretend motel slut before the idea becomes tiring. Good eye-candy though.



2. Ms. Fur has done a wonderful job finding the most horrible American motel interiors to ironically juxtapose against her beautifully stunning figure. The photos are clever and beautifully composed. The tension between the curvaceous Ms. Fur and her various nightmarish decorating environs are delightfully delicious. I would hope that this is just the first foray into photography for Ms. Fur as her eye for a beautiful photograph is unquestionable.
