1. I have been folding for over 50 years and wanted to find a good beginner's book for teaching.
   
   This fit the bill quite well. It has a nice selection of folds, excellent instructions, and is sufficiently brief that the beginner is not intimidated. The low price is also a plus as it has the effect of encouraging the undecided to try it out.



2. As always, I'm amazed at how quickly my items ship through Amazon. This is a great starter book. Yes, as other reviewers said, it is very basic- but I haven't done Origami for 30+ years and wanted to start from scratch learning my folds again. Also, I chose this on an Amazon recommendation grouped with other items- a fantastic asset in buying from Amazon- so the price was just unbelievable. I would so recommend this for anyone starting out and wanting to gain quick confidence, or to start off a child. I was in hospital from a car accident for many months when I started Origami, and it was a great benefit to keeping a shut-in child occupied- this book would have been a blessing as opposed to the heavy, therefore awkward to someone in bed- book I had that was a bit over my head. This is so easy to understand and follow that there is no huge learning curve and therefore no great frustration. There is instant gratification too, a newbie can quickly produce something to show off.



3. I purchased this book as part of a set for my 6 year old who liked folding paper airplanes and fortune tellers. He fell in love with it, and we did it for 2 hours straight on the first day. The directions were very step by step for him and he got used to it pretty easily.
   
   After looking at other "easy origami" titles from the library, this is the best beginner book I have seen. My only challenge is to find something similar or maybe just a little harder for us to continue on with.



4. my amazon.com order total was at [...] and rather than pay for shipping, i added this book to my cart to qualify for free shipping! i was not disappointed. this book contains very basic origami projects. the book is in black and white with simple diagrams. while it is no-frills, my 6 year old and i have enjoyed making many of the projects together.

5 comments about Origami Paper: 24 7 x 7 Sheets in 12 Colors.

1. I bought this paper pack a couple of weeks ago and found out that it contains only 2 papers each of the various colors. Maybe I overlooked it while buying. But this made it impossible for me to fold Modular origami models or Kusudamas. This paper pack will be ideal in case you are more in the habit of folding models of animals, butterflies and such. Good quality and folds easily, otherwise. The colors are bright too.



2. Product is as advertised and will be enjoyed by gift recipient. Merchandise was promptly shipped.



3. I thought the paper would be thiner, but it has a substantial feel to it.



4. The paper was fine. I used it with a basic origami book. My group of 7 kids went through it all in about an hour. It probably would have been a better value if I bought it at the local craft store.



5. This set of origami paper was very convenient and my 8 year old daughter had a lot of fun using it. Not to mention the convenience of having it shipped right to our mailbox. She loves to get mail and packages. The price was very reasonable too.

1. This was a nice sized set for a gift. Price was right and made my daughter very happy. Beautiful colors and paper was just right for a beginner to learn with.



2. I am thrilled that this paper is double sided, which I didn't realize when I bought it. I have never seen double sided Origami paper. The patterns are lovely. The paper is not cheapy thin at all, like toy store papers. Because I am starting again after many years, I am pleased that with the pattern on both sides, my little mistakes won't be as obvious! As I increase in skill I feel the double side will give me more scope for creativity. Will buy again!



3. This paper is a nice quality with a good size for youngsters learning the craft. The patterns are quite pleasing and provide distinction for the learner in the folds. My 10 yo daughter loves it. Nice product.



4. Just as advertised. Very nice paper, bright colors, same pattern with opposite placement of colors on reverse side.



5. These papers are very nice, easy to use and work with. The sheets are thin, making origami easy for a novice crafter like me.

5 comments about Origami Fun Kit for Beginners (Dover Fun Kit).

1. My seven year old girl was folding birds in about an hour all by herself. She modified the designs to make different types of birds. The directions were explained well, and the folds were simple enough to easily understand, yet still looked like the animals we folded. Purchase for kids who would enjoy folding.



2. I recieved an incomplete order and tried three times to contact the seller and got an automatic response asking for the order number which I sent each time and never got another response about. I contacted Amazon about this and never heard back after thier automatic answer either. I will go back to [...] where I get help when there is a problem.
   I am very unhappy to have purchased an item that was missing a good part of what I thought I had purchased and even more unhappy to be ignored.
   I am not sure I will ever purchase from Amazon again now that I know they really do not care about customer satisfaction.



3. I bought this kit having never done origami before in my life. I wanted to learn, so I figured a beginners' kit would be the place to start. This kit comes with three books and a pack of paper. The paper is great - lots of colors, and plenty of sheets - and the "Easy Origami" book that is inside was definitely helpful for learning, although it takes some experimentation as it lacks photos of exactly what some of the folds are. The other two books that come in the kit are Origami Animals and Origami Birds; I found these designs quite challenging for a true beginner. I was only able to complete about three of the birds before I was in over my head (and the folds started getting so tiny I wasn't able to continue making them neatly); I didn't even try any of the animals once I looked over the designs.
   
   Overall, I would say this is a good kit for beginners, I just wish that they had included books with a better curve for difficulty of designs, rather than going from "easily done by beginners" to "whoa, this is hard!"



4. I have always liked Origami, and I purchased this set to share that art & hobby with my nieces. I like this set and that it comes with a selection of papers to use for folding the various shapes. This includes regular paper in a rainbow of different colors, regular paper with a sort of "kaleidoscope" pattern in several color combinations, and a few different colors of metallic (foil on one side) paper. There are about four (4) sheets of each paper.
   There are a couple of things I want to share with anyone looking to purchase this item. First, be sure that you take a look at what books are included in this set. When I ordered this set I also ordered another book called "Easy Origami". If I had checked I might have seen that this set already includes that book, but I just gave the extra copy to my sister to take home. Also they call this set "Origami for Beginners", however the other two books "Birds in Origami" and "Favorite Animals in Origami" would actually be more for intermediate paper folders, in my opinion. As I said, I like this set, but that's just something to be aware of if you plan to purchase this.



5. I bought this as an introduction to Origami for my 10 year old daughter. She loves it, and I highly recommend it as a starter kit.

5 comments about Origami Paper Pattern 6 3/4" 49 Sheets (Origami Paper Packs).

1. Unlike a prior reviewer I thought the product information was pretty clear on what was included, one sided, patterned 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 paper. here's a nice touch tho, that I thought was unusual- the non-patterned side is colored the same as the background of the patterned side, not white, and I thought that was just SUPERB. I am very pleased with the patterns, I have never had good luck finding patterned paper in stores. It is just the size I want as I want to try making Origami jewelry. anyone looking for double sided larger paper can find it here, I bought a pack of that too, and was very surprised, I'd never seen patterned paper before. The little directions are a good starter, but there is also a beginning book offered on Amazon: Easy Origami by John Montroll that is a wonderful starter- gets you up and running with no frustration or heavy learning curve- marvelous for children or newbies.



2. This paper pack is by Tuttle again and is of a real good quality. It is easy to fold, too. One can fold pretty Kusudamas with this paper and other Modular pieces. At least that's what I have used this particulr paper pack for. This again, as with most Tuttle origami paper packs, comes in 48 colors of patterned origami paper, single - sided. One gold foil sheet is also included in addition to this.



3. MY SON HAD A PROJECT ON JAPAN AND HE USED THIS SUBJECT TO TALK ABOUT. IT WAS EASY AND FUN AND HE GOT AN A ON THE PROJECT.



4. Since this was a gift, I cannot comment on the substance. I do not know how to do oragami, so make no judgement.



5. Good basic one-sided origami paper with a nice selection of traditional patterns. Not as good as the Japanese paper, but perfectly fine for kids.

1. Easy for a beginner and tons of paper to practice with. My husband loves it.



2. Overall I would have to say that this kit is OK. It is a good beginners kit. The printed and metallic paper is neat, but this paper is not very user-friendly. I prefer other brands. As for the book, it contains some great ideas, and the diagrams are, for the most part, easy to use. However; there is very little consistency to the written instructions; it seems like they sometimes skip a few steps where there should be more guidance, and add in extra, unnecessary instructions in other places. And a lot of the projects involve scissors, which I personally do not like. Overall, it is a good practice kit for the price for the beginner.



3. This is a great value getting a good origami book (the instructions are good and the book itself is not flimsy) and a lot of paper to get started with. Enjoyed by all ages. Even used this with children with difficulty sitting down and attending to task (ADHD) and it's fun and they surprised me being able to sit still. Great for rainy day or keeping busy when you need to have quiet time.
   
   Family fun!



4. the instructions are very difficult to follow... the paper is nice though and it comes with lots of it.



5. My grandson Garrett asked for an origami kit for Christmas. As a grammy it is my job to make sure his every wish comes true! I researched to find the best kit I could find for a nine year old boy. This kit was highly recommended and it was a big hit. Now there are little folded up pieces of colored paper everywhere! Everywhere! Everywhere!

1. Great book, for beginners. My family and I are having a great time doing all these projects, this book has clear instructions and pictures for us. highly recommend.



2. I have found over the years that the most important thing in an origami book is clear diagrams. This book, in addition to clear diagrams has excellent photographs.The pictures were taken in such a way as to let the reader see exactly what the folder was doing. Each project has reminder sketches of how to fold its base. This elimanates flipping around through the book from project to base to project. Its a very nice feature for beginners and forgetfullers. I would have liked more projects, but that is always the case. The star box and the butterfly were my favorites in the book. Definitely worth the price.



3. I bought this for a gift and it was very warmly received. It is an excellent book for beginners which fulfills what it states. I would recommend this book to anyone who is even slightly interested or fascinated in this amazing hobby that most anybody that can read will succeed at. It is written very well and starts with the basic art of folding and then moves on to simple objects to begin with... and continues taking you through more complex objects as the book continues.



4. My 9-year old son checked this book out at the library and loved it so much that he bought it with his own hard-earned money. The library book was a hardback book and did come with paper. The one being sold here is a paperback and does not come with paper. The product description does state that the text is from an outdated or no longer available copy of the book, but should be updated to reflect that it does not come with paper. However, it's a basic, easy book and great for kids getting started.



5. This book says it comes with some prelined origami paper. It doesn't come with any paper at all, or at least it didn't arrive with any this time and that was another person's complaint as well. However, past that, the book is good. I liked the way it first goes through teaching the different folds before getting into the actual figures. I also liked how it again shows how to do the basic fold for a particular figure at the bottom of the pages of the figures, and how it has easier figures first, progressing to harder ones toward the end of the book. I was able to use it and I have had trouble using other origami books. The real test will be if my 10 year old granddaughter can use it since I bought the book for her. Only time will tell on that since she is using another easier book first.

1. Nice assortment for beginners. Maybe a nice gift for kids. There are better bargains however.



2. The paper was easy to fold, it came with several instructions for origami folding. My son would have liked to have known it only had one sheet of gold paper. The main reason I ordered the paper was to go with the origami book that was also purchase. Half the paper was gone before the book even arrived. The book was shipped after the expected arrival date. An email was sent, and the product was recieved two days later.



3. I liked the paper but I am not that skilled in origami so trying to work with this small paper was really hard. Next time I will purchase bigger sheets untill I get better.



4. I bought this booklet of Origami paper not long ago and found that it came in a variety of colors. You get 48 solid colored sheets (single sided) and one sheet of gold foil. Also included is a set of instructions for 6 basic origami models such as a Swan, a Pig, a Tortoise, a Samurai Helmet, a Row Boat and a Star shaped box. Though the booklet says its more suited for beginners, I have folded a T-Rex (John Montroll's) using this same paper! These are 6" square sheets of paper, by the way.

1. Its a pretty decent Origami paper. With animal prints you can have more vivid crafts. The only thing is those prints may prevent u from clearly seeing the crease you made as marks.



2. This paper is pretty good. Better than most types available online on Amazon. I have purchased other kinds of origami paper (solid colored, patterened, different sizes, etc) and have found that this paper can be used to fold models from tricky modular kind to simple animals and butterflies. Models with intricate folds also come out well with this paper. I have folded John Montroll's T-rex and other dinosaurs using this paper, too. It is good for both beginners as well as intermediate to complex level origami.
   
   This origami paper booklet contains an instruction booklet on folding a Zebra, Tiger Mask, Cat head, Cobra, Panther cub and a Crocodile. It contains 49 square sheets (including a sheet of gold foil) of 8 1/4" size. The sheets are double sided in color / print and comes in an array of different animal prints such as Zebra stripes, tiger stripes, giraffe spots, leapard spots, crocodile-skin print as well as a snake-skin print.

1. Interesting and was able to complete a few projects without refering to DVD. Have not had a lot of time with item and have not yet reviewed the DVD.



2. some are easier than others so there is something for all stages whether beginner or advanced; it would have helped me if the diagrams had been in color rather than gray.



3. The packaging of this book is beautifully designed with a box, some sample money to play with, written instructions and how-to movies of all the folds. I always find a video of origami a thousand times easier to follow than written instructions. So that was appreciated here and well worth the price.
   
   I bought The Money Origami Kit as a gift for someone who knows nothing about origami but says he wants to know how to make money folds. I thought this a perfect way to introduce him to origami where he can learn some of the easier diagrams and at the same time create something that has special meaning for him.
   
   Michael LaFosse's Origami Money Kid is a wonderful gift for anyone including yourself.
