5 comments about Heartfelt: 25 Projects for Stitched and Felted Accessories.
- I loved the whole book the projects were great and the instructions were easy to understand!
- A well done book complete with time, patterns, supplies and photos to complete a project out of recycled sweaters.
Author has produced a great book for those starting out in felting of old wool sweaters.
Some items are cute as a bug in a rug... whatever that is LOL... but just as cute as can be.
One thing...you have to like to embroider as there is quite a bit of that. As for myself I will modify and do needle felting instead of the embroidery. Well at least not as much as the author as I want the project to take less time than the amount put into the embroidery.
As an artist who sells her work time is important. I can not spend 5 hours on one item no matter how cute it is unless it is an item for a friend etc. but not for selling.
The photos, patterns, time and supplies needed is great.
- This is a fun and creative book, loaded with lots of ideas even for beginners! I love felting and love this book!
- This is not an ordinary felting book. It does have projects that can be done by a beginner, but mostly offers projects and ideas for intermediate/advanced crafters. Owning an embroidery machine is also an advantage for many of the projects. I really like this book, it offered ideas to do things with felt that I hadn't tried or even thought of trying. If you've worked with felted wool already, this is a great book.
- super easy transaction--received book in excellent condition and packaged well. would do biz with again!

5 comments about Beautifully Embellished Landscapes: 125 Tips & Techniques to Create Stunning Quilts.
- Great book, had all the how-to information I was looking for.
CM
- One of the strongest aspects of this book -- what sets it apart from many others on landscape quilting -- is the use of work by a variety of artists and quilters. Most of the newer landscape quilting books are filled with excellent and beautiful illustrations, but they are often the work of a single person or, perhaps, two. Few quilters who take the time to write books also range widely in the style of their own work...so including many other quilters gives a variety that is helpful to the designer.
Chapter 9 includes clear instructions to reproduce a number of the quilts in both an "original" and an "easy" version. For those people who feel more comfortable working from a pattern, this is the book for you. Not quite "paint by number," but a reasonable quilting version of that. Since the quilts themselves are quite nice, it will result in something more artsy than craftsy.
Becker gives a number of quick and easy techniques that she has discovered over the years which can add options for one's own quilting, even if you do work quite different in style from hers. I also loved pp. 43-49 which gave some easy patterns for several types of trees...a great jump off point that helps a quilter LOOK at trees as blocks of color and shapes.
Equally helpful are the closeups of Becker at work, showing how a piece sits in the machine and the final product when applied to a quilt.
Perhaps the best part of this book, however, is that the quilts Becker has chosen to showcase are not way out on the cutting edge of design or technique, making it a good book for a novice or someone with less confidence in her or his own design ability. Anything here would fit in most homes -- especially since a large number of quilts are in the 15 inch X 20 inch range (or, at least, under 2 feet square). There are larger quilts, as well, but a good variety of sizes makes this a book for those with small work spaces as well as those with more spacious ones.
- Highly recommended book that is great for anyone wanting details on how to take their landscape quilts to a new level. Joyce has shown what and how she is inspired and how this is translated into a beautiful quilt. Great book for teachers and students.
- I bought this for a friend who has never quilted, but had an idea of a landscape quilt in her head. After reading it, I realized that this is just the right book to start-jump a "newbie" from the starting point to where ever her imagintation will take her. Also, after reading it I am buying another copy for myself. I quilt and do some art quilts also, and this book gave me many wonderful ideas. . Highly recommended [[ASIN:1571203605 Beautifully Embellished Landscapes: 125 Tips & Techniques to Create Stunning Quilts
- This is my favourite book on this subject - heaps of ideas, tips and assistance to inspire me on a landscape quilt. Everything is well set out and clearly explained. Lots of examples to try out too.

5 comments about Easy Tatting (Dover Needlework Series).
- The title says it - Easy Tatting. I noticed many of the patterns start the same way but seeing how several motifs go together to create something like a collar helps me understand what goes into putting a piece together. I've enjoyed this book.
- I got this book to learn tatting and found it an exercise in frustration. the illustrations are few and, for the most part, unhelpful. the author doesn't go over how to wind a shuttle or explain why the shuttle is shaped the way it is. the part on chaining amounts to "hold the thread like this and do a chain". a friend of mine got a different tatting book with much clearer instructions and i nearly burned this one in frustration. if you want to learn to tat spend a little more money and get a better book.
- This is an excellent book for learning (all over again) how to tat. My sister was quite good at tatting, and we (three) sisters will enjoy learning, practicing, and reviewing the tatting process. The book is very clear and will be helpful in our efforts.
- What a wonderful starter book! It is not too complex and not too simple. The instructions are very, very simple to understand. I use these books for my students when teaching my class! What a find!!! They came fast and well packaged. They were brand new and beautiful. They even get into adding beads! Wonderful! I need more! =D
- I don't know if this is a good book for beginner's, but I learned to tat from my grandmother a millinium ago, and this is a great refresher to allow me to pick it up.

5 comments about First Book of Modern Lace Knitting.
- I asked the lace knitting group I belong to what would be a good book to start with learning lace knitting and many answered,FIRST BOOK OF MODERN LACE KNITTING by Marianne Kinzel.I looked it up on Amazone and found it right away and also found the, SECOND BOOK OF MODERM LACE KNITTING and had to purchase both. Very good books to have if you are just starting out with lace knitting. Iltcrft
- This book is a "must-have" for anyone looking for lace that is a little more challenging. Many people will have to re-learn some of the knitting terms (pins vs. needles) but it is definitely worth the effort.
- This book is full of beautiful patterns with the great detailing that make lace knitting so enjoyable. Some of the book is not written out line by line, the patterns are adaptable and flexible. If you are looking for a great resource book with patterns that will get your mind working, this is the book for you. If you're wanting straight patterns to follow then you might want to pass this one up for now. Definitely a great addition to any lace knitters library.
- Interesting book - focus is on doilies, and tablecloth type stuff. A bit much for a beginner at lace.
- This is a collection of exquisite knitted lace designs by Marianne Kinzel. The patterns are in very fine thread lace and mostly use knitting needle sizes around 2.00 mm or finer.
The sizes of the pieces range from doilies to tablecloths and bedspreads and every lace knitter should have this book and Book 2 in her collection.

5 comments about Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space: Sewing-Room Makeovers for Any Space And Any Budget.
- I love looking at how people organize their sewing rooms. This was a great resource book for me. It will make you want to reorganize your sewing space too! Lots of pictures and ideas.
- I was anxious to receive this book because I had read the other reviews, and wanted to see for myself. I agree that the other Sewing Spaces BookDream Sewing Spaces: Design & Organization for Spaces Large & Small that I have is better. I wouldn't really recommend this one Creating Your Perfect Quilting Space: Sewing-Room Makeovers for Any Space And Any Budgetover that. I love books, and Sewing Places and Spaces books are among my favs. I'll keep this one, but if someone wants it I'll definitely give it away.
- This is a fabulous book! The pictures alone are worth the cost of the book to me. I am going to reorganize my sewing room as soon as our contractor installs an egress window in it. (My sewing room is in our basement.) I can hardly wait to use the suggestions in this book to help me have a neater, more usable and attractive sewing room. I highly recommend this book for anyone who sews.
- I really enjoyed this book. I got a lot of great ideas and I immediately put some of them into use. I do like that the author gave examples of different quilting room makeovers and added up the cost of each. They ranged from very inexpensive to expensive. By using the worksheets, I was able to pinpoint what I wanted and needed in my own area. I was able to do what I needed for around $200, but I bought new cabinets from Home Depot and put them together myself. If I had been able to find something similar at a yard sale, I am sure it would have been even cheaper. The reason I went to Home Depot is that I already had another piece from there and the cabinets were an exact match which now looks great.
One of the best ideas I got was to make an ironing space higher than my regular ironing board. I got a board cut to my cabinet's top and covered it with padding and fabric. It really looks great and my husband even uses it, too.
- Enjoyed the book and the pictures, which are worth a thousand words. The prices for doing these rooms, however, can be reduced with some thought and the thrift stores.

5 comments about Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys, and Arans: Fishermen's Sweaters from the British Isles.
- I was hungry to get started on an Aran sweater before I got this book. Now that I have this book, I can't finish my current sweater fast enough so that I can start one of the Aran's in here! Excellent historical notes. The patterns themselves are old and some of the needle sizing isn't what we use today. No big deal if you are an experienced knitter though--which you need to be if you are going to be knitting these type of sweaters.
- The patterns themselves in this book are quite useless for me as they are knitted on extremely small needles- but the stitches and the ideas behind the patterns are more than useful. I love just thumbing through the book and looking at the pictures!
In addition to the pictures and stitches, the author does a great job of writing about the history of the patterns as well as her own travels to collect them.
I love this book and would recommend it for anyone who would like to learn more stitches and get additional designing ideas.
- This is a remake from a book written years ago. It has history of the sweater designs which is very interesting. The women didn't have set patterns written down, but are designs that have been carried down from generation to generation for a particular region. I would consider this book one for more intermediate knitters or those interested in history.
- I have knit sweaters for years but never tried a guernsey until now. This book has oodles of great patterns to place into your sweater but if you haven't a clue how to get started, it would be difficult without experienced help. There are a few patterns which take you from the beginning through to finish but the remainder assumes you are designing the sweater and inserting patterns of your own design. I loved the stories of gathering the special designs of the individual villages and following the men around to determine what design was used and how it was done! That takes guts! Great book for my library and knit bag!
- My aunt had given me this book a long time ago and it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. I bought it to replace it and now remember what a great book it is! This was the first time Aran sweater patterns were recorded in writing. I find this fascinating.

4 comments about BabyKnits Hats & Booties: 15 Matching Sets for Noggins and Tootsies.
- I borrowed this book from the library, and after making a couple hats from it, I have decided to buy it for myself. I love the argyle pattern, and the instructions were easy to follow. I recommend this book for someone who wants to make cute gifts for the babies in thier life.
- This book has some interesting stitches and some nice patterns. There is nothing in particular *wrong* with it. However, buy "Itty-Bitty Hats: cute and cuddly caps to knit for babies and toddlers" by Susan B. Anderson instead. The babies are cuter, the colours are much nicer and the patterns far more appealing. While I have made a couple of the hats in this book, and the patterns are okay, but not brilliantly written, I have made almost all of the hats in Itty-bitty hats and found the patterns very easy to follow.
- this book has some really cute patterns in it. The instuctions seem very easy to follow, even for a beginner.
- The only book I like better than this one, for kids hats is Itty Bitty Hats. Really you need to own both! These 2 books have the cutest hats for babies and children and they are a blast to make. With simple personalizations, you can make these styles into 100's more!
Highly Recommend!

5 comments about Felt, Fabric, and Fiber Jewelry: 20 Beautiful Projects to Bead, Stitch, Knot, and Braid.
- This is a very nice book for people who want to learn about making textile jewelry applying different techniques like sewing, quilting, felting and knitting. It is good for begginers, and it has many good ideas, very well explained. I would recomend this book if you want join this new trend, and get some inspiration.
- The review title says it all. I loved this book and am very excited to make the projects. There is a fabulous fabric charm bracelet which I am working on now. There is also some great crochet projects which inspired me to go out and buy some crochet supplies to try them.
- When I received this book and first thumbed through all the projects, the words "up-cycling and recycling" kept popping into my mind. Sherri uses many items that we have stockpiled in our crafting areas that can be used to create some of her lovely jewelry. Pieces of fabric find new life in a beautiful pendent, broche or bracelets. I would almost say that Sherri is an ecologically friendly jewelry maker. She uses small pieces of wool roving and felt and creates stunning necklaces and bracelets that you will want to make and wear or give as a gift. "Felt, Fabric, and Fiber Jewelry" not only covers felted jewelry but includes beautifully photographed and illustrated projects made from leftover fabrics, yarns and metal threads. And a knotted necklace is precisely illustrated for you to follow and create your own version. If you like crochet you will find this book invaluable because she shows you step-by-step how to crochet chokers, flowers and beautiful bracelets. She uses treasured buttons and beads to embellish some of her creations. The felted necklace on the cover of this book is made from sheets of 100% wool felt and Sherrie shows us how to form the petals using water. The templates for the flowers are included in the book. There is the pattern for an embroidered ring that is delightful. Each stitch she used this is clearly laid out for you to follow to achieve the look you are going for. The yo-yo necklace is one I will want to try because it reminds me of a quilt my grandmother made. All in all Sherri has offered us 20 very doable projects that we will all want to try. There are several pages dedicated to the tools you will need to make these lovely projects.
About: Sherri Haab is a bestselling craft author with over 23 published books to her credit, with several selling over a million copies each. Haab is a certified metal clay instructor, leading numerous craft and jewelry making workshops internationally. Sherri has been a pioneer in the American Metal Clay revolution since 1996 when it was first introduced in the US. She is known for tracking trends in the craft industry and then educating consumers about how to use new products and techniques. Her own product, "ITS", is one example of a new craft innovation. This product allows printed images to be applied to polymer, tile and metal clay. She now resides in Springville, Utah with her husband and three children. Here is Sherrie's Video on etching on metals. Sherrie also has a website and blog for you to visit and find you more about her.
- This is the most original craft jewelry book I own. It stimulates the imagination to create jewelry out of almost anything. I would consider it an 'altered jewelry' book since it uses many different, easy to attain, items such as scraps of fabric, wire, felt and so much more to create unique and beautiful pieces of jewelry. The illustrations for making these items are very clear in both picture quality and written descriptions. I recommend it highly to anyone who is into this type of jewelry.
- What a fun book with many diverse projects, ranging from crochet to felting to polymer clay to braiding. I've already made the crocheted bracelets, and will do the felted flower necklace shown on the cover next. I'm sure that I will enjoy making many of the projects in this book!

1 comments about Inchies: Create Miniature Works of Art Using Textiles and Mixed Media Techniques.
- This is a lovely book. Beautifully laid out and with coloured pictures and examples throughout. Explains techniques and materials required clearly. Projects are very good, useful for beginners and those who are experienced quiltmakers. There are coloured pages of finished quilts and ideas for what to do with the tiny art creations. I think making these miniature quilts is going to be addictive. A wonderful way to use up scraps. Defintely worth adding to your book collection.

5 comments about Miniature Iron-on Transfer Patterns for Dollhouses, Dolls, and Small Projects.
- I bought this thinking it would be pictures of blankets, rugs and various other things that you can iron on to cloth and then put directly into your house. Wrong!
This is for needle workers. Cross stitch and/or embroidery. But after looking through the book, I will try my hand at this because the designs are just that neat. I think when I actually get one made it will be well worth the tiny price of the book.
- This book is exactly what it says it is. It is full of iron on transfers for minature projects. So there is no surprise there.
It is full of transfers and is worth the money. If you are good with the computer you could enlarge these patterns and use them for larger doll houses. I have transfer pencils from hobbytex I can use to make these larger patterns into iron-on transfers.
If you are into making items for miniatures I recommend this book and if you do have a transfer pencil you can make even more than what is recommended by this book.
- The transfer patterns included are surpisingly detailed. They say that you can use them several times. It appears they could be used for embroidery, crewel work or needle punch. The instructions are only for iron transfer to cloth but not for the embroidery. You could look at the front and back cover for ideas but the actual book doesn't give any hints. I had ordered a punch needle "how to" book so I can use that to complete the little rugs.
- This is a wonderful, affordable book full of iron-on patterns for rugs, bedspreads, quilts, and other mini applications. If you use just ONE pattern, it is worth the price of this book!
- I was really surprised with this book, it's loaded with all kinds of patterns to be used for making dollhouse items. I think this is a must have for any one making dollhouse items.
