- Remember its tiny - approx 4"x4" - but very well done.

- Though a thin volume for a museum title, I am impressed by the picture quality of this book. The illustrations contain very little moire and are not page-split in the middle in many cases.

3 comments about Corporate Art Consulting.
- I have just started reading this book. The print quality is poor but the content is good.
I do not intend to be an art consultant, I am a working artist, but I like to learn as much as I can about the art market and surviving as an artist.
At this point I have read the first few chapters and am very impressed with the intelligent analysis of sectors in the art consulting (marketing) field put forward by this author. The text offers a description of the types of client involved in each sector, their different expectations and the different types and levels of knowledge, skill and effort required to service them.
I recommend it.
- Not many words to say. It is an excellent book. Many thanks to Susan Abbott for sharing her knowledge.
- Great book. This book has helped me alot. Susan Abbott really breaks the business art consulting down with samples of letters and proposals to clients, telling you when to phone and when to write. This book is not just for art consultants but for anyone who is involved in the business side of art i.e. galleries and artists. I definitely reccomend this book.

5 comments about Fly Now!: The Poster Collection of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
- Wow this book was a major disappointment! The selection of posters is really poor compared to others on this subject. As an avid collector of aviation art and as an artist myself give this book a miss.
- A poor design, bad editing, and incredibly lackluster. A purchase I regret making.
The writer seems content in believing that her words are more important than the very subject she's supposed to be covering - Airline Posters. What's with the 3rd grade point size? Are we all that far-sighted that we need 18 point text to deliver the message? Some of the nicest images - and there aren't nearly enough - are reduced to the point of being worthless. Or worse - they're enlarged so big that they're cropped. What? Is centering that difficult a concept for The Smithsonian? And explain why one would double-page through the gutter? Fully one-fifth of the image is stuck in between the binding!
Virtually worthless. The only saving grace is that there are a handful of nice images that are: Centered, not cropped, not cluttered or crowded off the page with text, and of decent quality. But not nearly enough to justify the purchase price.
I wonder how good this could have been had Chronicle Books handled the book?
- I've been a fan of vintage flying and travel posters for many years. This book is one of the best I've seen. There is a poster on every page describing a little about each one. Some of I've seen before, but most I've never seen before. The printing and colors in the book are very well done.
If anyone is interested in travel or retro posters, this is a good book to start.
- This book is a wonderful combination of eye-catching graphics and insightful commentary. It really transported me back to an era when flying was special, elegant and exciting. Anyone interesting in the history of transportation will enjoy this book.
- Fly Now! is a collection of the air and space museum but a wonderful invitation into the world of flight. I found the posters fascinating. The stories with each of them brought me into the time of which they were speaking. We take flying so for granted today. this books reveals the wonder, the danger, and the passion that brought us to this day. Bravo! Great work!

1 comments about The Arts and Crafts Movement in Europe and America: Design for the Modern World 1880-1920.
- This is an exhibition catalog and ... I actually read it! Most catalogs are useful only for the pictures, but this one is a fascinating read about the emergence of the arts and crafts movement in England in the nineteenth century and its spread to the countries in Europe and the United States. It's organized by country, and focuses on the social context in each one, particularly how each country's artists and commentators modified the original Ruskin/Morris ideas to meet their own needs and respond to the salient issues in their own societies. Very well done, and lots of beautiful pictures of arts and crafts objects, too.

1 comments about Art of the Classical World in The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Greece o Cyprus o Etruria o Rome (Metropolitan Museum of Art Publications).
- I bought this book after visiting the MET and spending a day just in the Roman wing. The book is a very useful reference for the works there; all pictures are in color and each object is described just as in the museum. My only disappointment is that a larger-than-life bronze Greek statue, perhaps my favorite in the entire collection, is not included. Nevertheless, this book, like the MET itself, is almost holy to me.
