1. I was privileged enough to actually view the Pushkin exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston a few months ago. After seeing the book on amazon, for less than the book shop, I knew that I had to buy it. Every time I open it, I'm reminded of my visit to the museum. I love almost all of the paintings, but of course there are always a few exceptions. As an art student myself, the paintings by the masters, such as Picasso, Cezanne, and Renoir, serve as an inspiration. So, is it worth it? Absolutely!

1. Don't buy this book if you are looking for fresh ideas and inspirations. All presented in the book magazines was printed 10 years ago!



2. Wonderfully designed book with hundreds of images (but little text) of great magazine design. Works are from all over the world and all kinds of subjects. A great coffee table book for magazine lovers and an excellent resource for graphic designers.

1. As always, this is a beautifully put together book from Taschen. It has a lot of important information, but tends to be more on the short and concise side as opposed to numerous details. Also, the layout of the book can be frustrating at times, as it's in alphabetical order and not chronological. Which is interesting...



2. Whether you're an interior, industrial or other sort of designer, an architect, or simply a design conoisseur, this book will help answer almost all your questions about designers, design houses, movements, etc. In addition to this (definitions, biographies, etc.) you'll find an abundance of very good pictures that go with most of the entries, that illustrate them very well.

   The only reason I give it four stars is because some topics it seems to cover with lots of detail (a good example is "Herman Miller") while others are left with a few lines. Yes: Herman Miller is a huge name in furniture design, but that doesn't make Gaudi, for example, any smaller.

4. This is an excellent reference book on 20th century design. It has over 700 color photographs and illustrations and is very well organized. The pocketbook size (5.5 x 7.5 in.) makes it very user friendly.The price point makes it a real bargain.

1. I am a health care worker in Amherst, Massachusetts with an interest from childhood in Greek and Roman art. It is a pleasure to recommend Ruthie Knapp and Janice Lehmberg's sparkling museum guide, Greek and Roman Art. This delightfully written work is a perfect guide to the classical collection of any museum, and brings the culture of the ancient world alive for adults and children alike. A wonderful resource indeed!



2. This book is a wonderful guide for all members of the family to use when seeing Greek and Roman art. Although the purpose of the book is to help children enjoy a museum visit, anyone can profit from advice to limit oneself to short museum visits which concentrate on a few objects, rather than trying to stuff the whole museum into one's head in one session.The authors have lots of other good sense suggestions about museum visiting in general.

   The format of this short and handy book is most inviting: bright colors, lively illustrations, witty language, interesting facts. The facts are given in words which the reader will find easy to remember.The whole book is peppered with entertaining surprises.

   The authors clearly explain to the reader the basics about Greek and Roman art, and how to see differences between them.

   I would heartily recommend this small but potent guide to persons of any age who will be visiting collections of Greek and Roman art.
