1. I really like this artist's work. Especially the work he's done in the past few years. This book might have been better if it contained the artwork alone however.The writer is not the artist and makes dozens of references to artwork which is difficult to reference because there are no page nos.associated with her descriptions or the art she's talking about isn't even in the book! There is also no index..so good luck. I hope Targete plans on a publish a new collection of his art soon as he is very prolific. Hopefully the next one will be better organized and self narrated.

3. What a great artist! Inspired by the painting of old masters, his work has a life to it lacking in much art these days...That will be more effective than any words I write here at convincing you to rush right out and buy his book, or order it here from Amazon.com.

1. In fact, parts of this volume go beyond the human experience of the human form. How many people will recognize Alain Geofrroy's "Intimate" within the first few minutes?
   
   These works explore a vast range of possibilities, from classic cheesecake and Tom of Finland, to abstractions that leave only hints of curves, to manga, functional cufflinks, bronzes, and every other way that artists have found to express what matters most deeply. Some of it gets kinky, and some kinks out past my liberal range of tolerance - but only a few.
   
   Even though many of these works document close intimacy, of many kinds, the things that make pornography ugly are clearly absent. Some images suggest intense physical feelings, but never past the level of consent. Nearly all express the fun and variety of experience that happy partners can enjoy together. For me, that's what it's all about.
   
   This book's editors use the proceeds to support AIDS research - which desperately needs the help. Enjoying these artworks is not a political statement, however. It just acknowledges a profound source of human feeling and experience, through the eyes of artists with many different visions.

1. PETER LAWSON-JOHNSON HAS CRAFTED A VERY MEMORABLE MEMOIR, WHICH CAN BE ENJOYED BY ART (AND NON-)PATRONS ALIKE WITH EXAMPLES OF SOME WONDERFUL GUGGENHEIM WORKS WITHIN ITS PAGES.....WHAT A TREAT!

This is a wonderful tell all story about one of the most prestigious families in the United States told by a Guggenheim descendant who has been at the helm of the family empire for several decades. It is a historical biography of his family. The chapters on the Guggenheim Museum provide tremendous insight into the creation of the world wide Guggenheim Museum franchise. I enjoyed the chapter on Peggy Guggenheim the most. One learns how she dropped out of the family mainstream to amass a priceless art fortune in Venice Italy which she ultimately bequeathed to the Guggenheim Foundation. I highly recommend this book.

The author is a Guggenheim himself and the board president who saw the museum changed from a local New York institution to a world-wide art venture: his background lends an insider's eye and appreciation to GROWING UP GUGGENHEIM: A PERSONAL HISTORY OF A FAMILY ENTERPRISE. His accounts of his grandfather Solomon Guggenheim begins with the museum's founder's achievements and family interactions and tells stories of the institution's evolution within and outside the family. His memoirs of personalities over the decades, controversies which affected its efforts to expand, and the author's own career makes for a colorful series of vignettes which come packed with business financials, insights, and art history. A 'must' for any who would understand the Guggenheim enterprise.

1. The book had excellent drawings and pictures. I am really into pinup art and this made a great addition to my collection of books.



2. This book tells the story of Jim Silke and is very informative, but the quality of the art was less than expected. I have always enjoyed Jim's art and the book is a welcome addition to my collection of fantasy and pinup artists, but I think the publisher does not do the Art due justice.



3. Silkie is a rarity, as good a writer as he is an artist and photographer. A long-time devotee of the field, he was unabashedly pinup-centric before that was cool. His art in this volume is ample and beautiful. For example, for the past few years Silkie has been THE Vampirella artist, infusing new glamour and danger into a frequently-overdone character. The best part of the book to me is Silkie's text, where he "tells it like it is" as a veteran of the scene for many years. Kudos to him for this wonderful, fun book.
