1. Un buen libro como todos los libros de Dan Brown
   se los recomiendo

2. He leido todas las obras de Dan Brown y todas tienen la peculiaridad de desarrollarse en una persecusion frenetica dentro de 12 a 24 horas maximo. Ciertamente D. Brown tiene un estilo de escribir muy interesante con abundancia de informacion supuestamente documentada pero que no sabes si es verdadera, forzada o de su invencion pero que aun asi te cautiva. sin embargo abusa del corto tiempo en que trancurre la trama ademas de que algunos pasajes resultan increibles.
   
   Por ultimo hay que mencionar que en cada obra Brown sacude e intenta destruir algunas creencias que se consideran sagradas (tal vez en ello reside parte de su exito), por mencionar solo algunas: en el Codigo DaVinci a los cimientos de la cristiandad, en Angeles y Demonios a los del vaticano y en El Simbolo Perdido a los de la masoneria.
   
   El Simbolo Perdido es una buen libro para entretenerse pero si ya leiste los anteriores te vas a encontrar mas del mismo estilo. A pesar de mis comentarios de seguro no me perdere el que siga



3. Facinante!! La forma en que Brown narra esta historia es encantadora. No te puedes separar de leer este libro. el suspenso la curiosidad, la historia, todo. Gran Aplauso para Dan Brown. Fabuloso Final! simplemente te lo recomiendo. un libro ademas de entretenido lleno de sabiduría.



4. I don't have any bad comments about the book. Like the rest of his book, this is great!!! but I have a problem with the book and I can't finish it because it doesn't have some chapters, from chapter 83 goes to chapter 95, so I had to stop and I don't know what to do because is kind of difficult to keep the story without so many chapters. I hope Amazon can help me!!!

1. I've been reading only in English for 10 years now, so I was really looking forward to this novel. It really went beyond all my expectations. The narrative was splendid and the metaphors were really breath taking. I loved the life lessons that were dropped here and there, depictions of our reality, true jewels of life:
   
   "El tiempo me ha enseñado a no perder las esperanzas, pero a no confiar demasiado en ellas."
   
   "Estamos dispuestos a creer cualquier cosa menos la verdad".
   
   "El destino suele estar a la vuelta de la esquina. Como si fuese un chorizo, una furcia o un vendedor de lotería: sus tres encarnaciones más socorridas. Pero lo que no hace es visitas a domicilio. Hay que ir a por él."

2. Es un libro muy rico en que se desarollan tramas, sub-tramas y ramas de sub-tramas. Ruiz Zafon escribe con toda su fuerza del corazón y muestra una Barcelona gótica y auténtica, una história estupenda!

5. Ruiz Safon tiene un talento excepcional para la narrativa. Sus palabras fluyen de una forma que hace que uno no quiera parar de leer su libro. Pero no solo es un escritor con un gran talento para contar historias: la historia que relata en La Sombra del Viento es altamente adictiva y emotiva. Me tarde en empezar a leer el libro, desde que me lo recomendaron hace unos años atras. Pero una vez que lo tome en mis manos, no pude detenerme hasta llegar al final. Este ha sido, sin duda alguna, un grato redescubrimiento de la novela en español.

5 comments about Spanish Stories / Cuentos Españoles (A Dual-Language Book) (English and Spanish Edition).

1. The book was mailed quickly, thanks I was anxious to get it.
   The book is in great shape



2. An anthology/ dictionary/ translation/ textbook with questions/ historical reference...many things in one small book.
   
   This collection of short stories spans the time of Chaucer to the modern Existentialist period: Cervantes, Clarin, Palma, Lynch, Borgenos,Cela, Pardo Bazan, Alarcon, Quiroga, and Unamundo. Many of the stories are hard to follow because of vague plots. I was often left wondering about where the end of the stories was ...leading me to wonder if they have been over edited. These stories have a charming atmosphere and give us cultural insights into the the world of Spanish literature spanning time and geography to include medieval Europe and modern South America.
   
   One story in particular sticks out. Quiroga's THE ROOF reminds me of the old Bradbury story about a rain drenched Venus so daunting that explorers have to find refuge in golden sun domes replete with heat lamps and hot chocolate. Quiroga's descriptive talents match Bradbury's or maybe even Conrad's looming dark jungle. Forgive my aside.
   
   The book is user friendly, but the Spanish is not for beginners or even intermediate level readers. The dictionary in the back is good, but buying a good dictionary may be indicated while reading this book. I regret spending more time on the English and content and not concentrating on the Spanish vocabulary as I should have.



3. I bought this book with the goal of improving my Spanish. I am a firm believer that forcing yourself to read text in the foreign language that you are learning will help improve your command of that language.
   This book is definitely not for beginners. It is for advanced Spanish students with interest in the literary works. It is a nice introduction to the works of some of the best Spanish writers. I'm almost half way through the book and the book is arranged in chronological order of the writers from the 1300's to the 1900's. Reading the first half, I admit that I was not very comfortable with the style of the writings as I had to refer to the translation far too often. But I still think it is good practice and I'm looking forward to finishing this book.



4. I enjoyed working through this book, but suspect it is a bit more than 'intermediate' in its target audience. The range of stories is very good and includes a couple of classics. Both Spain and Sapnish-speaking America are included. The endnotes are variable in value. There is a glossary at the end but a good dictionary will come in handy as well. On the whole, a helpful and informative collection.



5. This is James from James Spanish (the learning Spanish blog). This bi-lingual book is great for intermediate Spanish students wanting to apply what they have learned to a genuine context. The book is filled with stories from renowned Spanish authors such as Cervantes, Alarcon and Borges in the original Spanish and a faithful English translation.
   
   This type of dual-language book encourages reading fluency and translational skills as well as helping to build vocabulary and give a fuller understanding of the Spanish language.
   
   The format of the book allows for quick reference and translation, with the Spanish on one page, and the English translation on the facing page. This means you can read the stories more naturally, without flicking to different sections of the book to look up words that you are not familiar with.
   
   The style of the authors vary, and you may find some writing easier to understand than others, just as you may find some of the stories more interesting than others. This will be due to your personal preference as well as your level of Spanish, so don't be too disheartened if you find yourself struggling to make it through one of the stories while others seem to flow easily.
   
   A glossary in the back of the book provides a quick reference for many of the words covered in the stories so that you can reinforce what you have learned. You may also want to have a good English-Spanish dictionary to hand while you read the book so that you can have a more in depth translation of any words that are causing you trouble as well as another example of context so that you know how to use the new word you have learned.
   
   These are the three Amazon products that I have found most helpful in my pursuit to learn Spanish.
   
   1. Lights, Camera, Spanish (Book + DVD): Learn Conversational Spanish by Watching a Romantic Adventure This is actually a 90 minute movie for Spanish-language learners. It gives the option to watch the movie with subtitles but I'd recommend not using them to improve your Spanish. This "movie" also includes a workbook so that Spanish-language can reinforce the dialog from the film. The workbook also has lots of exercises to keep you engaged in
   the film and to reinforce the Spanish that you learn.
   
   2. Verbarrator Version 1.1 (Windows Version) This is a excellent piece of software which replaces the traditional verb conjugation books and makes learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs an interactive and fun activity.
   
   3. Diccionario esencial de la lengua espanola de la Real Academia Espanola (Spanish Edition) I am not going to say that you have to get this particular Spanish dictionary
   but if you are really serious about speaking the language fluently, then at some point you will need to replace your Spanish-English dictionary and get a pure Spanish
   dictionary with both the vocabulary words and the definitions are entirely in Spanish.

5 comments about Los hombres que no amaban a las mujeres, Vol. 1 Trilogia Millennium (Spanish Edition).

1. Este primer volumen de la Trilogia del Milenio esta tan bien escrito que deja a una pendiente de leer los dos siguientes. Lo recomiendo sin reservas.



2. FASCINATING. ONCE YOU START READING YOU WILL NOT WANT TO LEAVE THE BOOK. AND, WHEN YOU FINISH THIS NOVEL YOU WILL BE RUNNING TO THE NEXT BOOK OF THE TRILOGY.



3. Es una trama interesante donde el autor te mantiene en suspenso, sobre que es lo siguiente que va a pasar. Mikeal se da cuenta que la historia que esta descubriendo es de una familia muy disfuncional llena de grandes y atemorizantes secretos. Toda la novela te mantiene con ganas de leer más y más, pero luego de descubirto el gran secreto, continua la novela. Así que el final, no es lo que yo esperaba, pero es una muy buen libro para leer.



4. Me había topado con breves reseñas de los 3 libros de Stieg Larsson, y a principios de este mes me decidí por comprar el primer libro de la trilogía, al tercer día ya me hacía falta el segundo libro y fue en un reciente viaje a la ciudad de México cuando compé el tercero. Me leí los 3 libros prácticamente de corrido, son excelentes novelas donde te metes en la vida de Mikael Blomkvist y Lisbeth Salander, en verdad que recomiendo los 3 libros, esa mezcla de tecnología con investigación, sexo y acción se funden de manera perfecta en los libros del Sueco, lástima que Larsson no vivió para conocer el gran éxito de sus tres libros.

   De lo mejor que he leído en todo el año, uno de mis libros favoritos. Te agarra y no te suelta, me tomó leerlo únicamente tres días.
   Ya estoy leyendo el segundo libro de la serie (CHICA QUE SOÑABA CON UNA CERILLA Y UN BIDON DE GASOLINA, LA (Spanish Edition)) el cual promete ser tan bueno como éste sino mejor.

3. I had never read Bolano, but the overwhelming praise and mystique surrounding 2666 had me itching to dive in. Thus, I decided to start with this 900+ page master work. Perhaps a tough place to start...
   
   Here's fair warning: 2666 is sprawling in every sense. There were parts I absolutely loved (the beginning had me completely hooked), but then it began to trudge along. And trudge along. Then right when you're ready for it to pick back up, the novel continues it's oblique path you have to push through. My frustrations were compounded by RB's uber-descriptive, run-on writing style, which has been detailed in other reviews.
   
   I'm suggesting you tackle something else in his body of work first, perhaps The Savage Detectives, to see if you enjoy his style. Otherwise you may feel bogged down like I did, and that's not good when dealing with a 900+ page master work.



4. Roberto Bolano's 2666 is a vast and sometimes frustrating labyrinth wherein many characters seem to vanish into their own obscure tangents. As a reader I wanted to keep following them, and when in the midst of all the murder I felt abandoned in a world that made no sense and was endlessly recurring. By the end I felt clearly that Bolano was fully intentional in imparting his world. And it is a very stark representation of this world. How is it possible that these murders continue now almost 20 years. One feels indignant and angry. But looking around it seems we become numb to similar or disimilar cases of murder and corruption, of systemic abuse and indifference around the world. And it's our world. As you wander Bolano's labyrinth you can't get lost in narrative and thereby aesthetically leave yourself behind.



5. This is one of the worst books I've read in years!!
   I totally cannot comprehend what is so intriguing and fascinating about the unending detached accounts and descriptions of hundreds of murders of women. On xx date, the body of xxx was found, mutilated in the dumps. On another date, another body was found. On another date, another body of a mutilated woman was found......and it goes on and on and on and on for hundreds of pages!! What sick psychopath would enjoy this kind of never ending and super boring accounts of murdered women?? This is totally meaningless and irrelevant. How is this relevant to the entire story, if there is a story?
   
   As this was published after the writer's death, I don't believe this is the final version of what should have been published!!

Muy bueno a mi parecer, cuando lo empece no lo pude dejar, finalmente me animo a ver las cosas de otra manera en especial en este momento donde mi vida necesita respuestas y me encanto eso de reencontrarse a uno mismo, y aunque las cosas no terminen como uno quiere, aprendemos que la vida es mucho mas que eso, y es un viaje interminable.



5. Nunca he sido fanatico de Coelho. Siempre me parecio absurdo su estilo de 'guerreros de luz' y cosas sobrenaturales. Sin embargo empece a leer este libro por casualidad, un dia bien aburrido y caliente en una libreria de Miami. Era el unico libro en espanol y por eso lo compre. Al principio el libro atrapa con la sospecha y la especulacion de la esposa desaparecida. Luego el analisis de la sociedad y el comportamiento social que deriva en la busqueda interior del personaje por hallar una explicacion razonable a lo que no tenia logica alguna. Si todo estaba bien...por que todo cambio?. Como decia mi abuela: si funciona bien, no lo arregles. Pero todo se trastorna, todo se mueve, y somos tan cobardes, tan ciegos y tan irresponsables con nuestra vida y la de los demas que no nos atrevemos a ser felices porque creemos que eso hace infelices a otros.
   Quede impresionado con el libro. Pense al principio que no pasaria del primer capitulo y al bajar del avion lo dejaria en la silla. Pueda que desista como yo de leer el libro cuando vaya a la mitad. Ese es un puente necesario para entender el final. Invierta en el libro. Y si tiene suenos como yo y tiene pareja estable, hagase un regalo y regaleselo a ese ser especial. Tal vez lo entienda a usted mejor cuando decida hacer de su vida lo que siempre quiso que fuera.
   Nunca termine de leer 'El Alquimista'. Me parecio pesado y demasiado filosofico para una epoca en la que pasaba del Rock a las depresiones juveniles mientras sobrevivia a la euforia de las hormonas. A lo mejor ahora tras esta experiencia me decida a leerlo.

4. Les confieso que la compre porque me intrigo el resumen que lei pero cuando la recibi y comence a leerla como se dice en ingles "I fell in love with it". La historia es muy conmovedora pero vale la pena leerla siempre y cuando tengas una caja de tissue al lado o te aguantes las ganas de llorar con la historia de esta nina. Ojala no haya un cielo para que asi los muertos no sufran mas viendo lo que hacemos aqui en la tierra los que quedamos.

No tanto por el argumento, más o menos documentado, porque no es un libro científico, sino por el desarrollo (mucho mejor engranado que los otros) y por la bonita descripción que realiza de Roma, de sus rincones, que parece que te la va enseñando. Sin duda la mejor de las tres.
