1. Overall great service. Arrived earlier than expected and in great condition. Even some helpful annotations.



2. I received my book quicker than I even expected. I'm a student who orders textbooks online to save money, and usually you have to sacrifice the first week of school work to wait for the shipping. This was not the case on this book. Was in great shape. I would definitely recommend using these guys.



3. The short stories are great and it explains the literary movements in Spanish literature. I highly recommend this book for school use or light reading. Just make sure you have a dictionary handy if you're not a native speaker.



4. I typed in the ISBN number originally, in order to search for the book. I then clicked on used books, and then they sent me the wrong edition of the book!



5. This is my textbook for a Spanish literature overview class, and so far we have just gone straight through it and not required any extra materials. It is very thorough and gives a good overview in the limited space it is able to have. My one criticism would be that the informational sections feel too long and boring and needlessly detailed when it gets into long lists of literary terms, etc. Overall a good book, though.

Trabaje en warehouse de una libreria muy famosa, y antes de que saliera ala venta yo ya le habia dado una revisada, cuando salio ala venta fueron muchos ejemplares los que se vendieron mucha la demanda. Me parese que cuando uno tiene dinero puede darse ese lujo, asi que es muy facil ir por el mundo sin preocuparse de lo monerario y adquirir experiencias de esos viajes.
   Si yo tubiera dinero haria lo mismo, y me enamoraria en francia, o espa~a, y ahora la autora del libro con todo lo que a vendido se puede ir a la india las veces que quiera y adquirir mas experiencias con todo el dinero que hizo del libro pero esta vez lo tiene por las personas que compraron el libro, y la mayoria fueron de bajos recursos, recordemos que en el mundo hay mas pobresa que gente rica.......... Yo ahorro y ahorro y no puedo ir ni a la playa.
   No creeo que sea tan bueno el libro, me parece ami, soy una gran compradora de libros, es en lo que mas gasto mi dinero, pero este no lo compre gracias a que lo hize en mi trabajo, y nada extraordinario es. Es mi opinion.



2. I read the book in Spanish, it easy for me since is my mother language. I found the book very bored and I thing the translation made was poor, very poor.
   I won't recommend to read this book in Spanish.

5. This book starts off well; it is well written, poignant, humorous, and insightful. Somewhere before the end of Italy though, Elizabeth Gilbert goes from all these lovely and positive traits to a person bent on proving that she deserves to have whatever the heck it is she wants. In fact, we should all do ourselves the favor of becoming self absorbed and selfish.
   
   And that is the journey that Gilbert suffers us on. She deserves a break today and everyday and sets out to figure out, "What does Elizabeth want." Period.
   
   And really how terrific is that, an advance for a book, this book, telling all of us how to achieve selfishness, like we need told, duh.
   
   I really enjoyed the first third of the book, but Gilbert gets to be so full of herself, her wisdom, her desires that is just got b-o-r-i-n-g.

1. The book I ordered was delivered quickly and in the condition as promised. I have no complaints and definitely recommend this seller.



2. The book was in great condition, it seemed new. It took a bit longer to get here because of the holiday but I got it before I needed it for class. I also got in contact witht the seller and they replied very quickly to my email and were very helpful!!



3. This is a great book, that every body who speaks Spanish or is learning Spanish should read. Is full of stories about authors, and people in our Latin-American story. I love to read the life of an author and then match it with his/her writing. Don't miss this book. Order it now!



4. While I think this book is an incredible anthology of hispanic writers, The question and answer sections at the end of the chapters, to me, seem quite difficult to figure out, but I am keeping in mind, that I'm not a completely fluent reader!

4. I did daycare for 16 years and this book made it everyday at reading time. One of the kids always picked it. They laugh and smile to this story. I love that they made a spanish version.



5. i was surprised to find out my baby liked this book. I thought the brown and muted colors would be a turn-off but baby enjoys it. I bought it when my son was a baby and not as a toddler he still enjoys it.

1. It's nice that this book is available in Spanish; however, I find the choice of wording and the translation in Spanish rather awkward. I'd prefer a translation that used simpler wording and flowed more readily off the tongue. After all, this is a children's book.



2. I really like the book. I have the English version, which is a classic, so I bought the Spanish version which is acceptable.



3. As the little rabbit goes to sleep, he wishes a good night to everything he sees - from the mittens hanging out to dry to the playful cats, his comb and brush, and of course, the moon. The words have a soothing rhythm and the rabbit's room gets darker as one moves through the book. Nightime is falling and it's time for bed. Recommended for bedtime reading.



4. Great for learning spanish since my son knows the english version so well. It is identical but in spanish.



5. Look, this book is a classic in its original English version; its rhymes are central to its greatness and are unequalled in translation. Though the Spanish version is not defective, it just does not have the same charm that the rhymes have in the original.
   
   Get this book in English, and choose books translated into Spanish whose text are not central to their enjoyment (e.g., Buenas noches, Gorila), or choose books originally written by Spanish language authors.

1. This is a good book full of short spanish stories and is a good resource for the beginner to intermediate spanish learner!



2. This is an easy-to-use beginner's reader for those who have learned some basic Spanish grammar and vocabulary and want to practice reading. Each selection is printed with Spanish on one page and English on the facing page. There is a helpful glossary at the back.
   
   The book was first published nearly fifty years ago. Many of the selections are adapted from classic Spanish literature, and while they are often amusing, they are also rather dated in their content. Also, like many other Dover publications, the typeface is heavy and a little hard to read.
   
   However, the book is a good value and offers the beginning Spanish student a way to start reading early.



3. It shows the english and spanish side by side. Must have a basic understanding of spanish to get real value from it.



4. I wanted some additional reading material in Spanish and this is a good choice. I would recommend it.

1. Las novelas más inspiradoras sobre la mujer latinoamericana son "La casa de los espíritus" de Isabel Allende, "El amor en los tiempos del cólera" de García Márquez, "Las hermanas Agüero" de Christina García, "La casa en Mango Street" de Sandra Cisneros y la que acaba de aparecer sobre la mujer de la inmigración, "El amor de Carmela me va a matar" de Eduardo González Viaña.



2. I'm reviewing this as an English speaker who approached this work as a chance to test my Spanish skills.
   
   Frankly, I found the book delightfully interesting. The translation was, for the most part, easily readable, and the stories themselves were very memorable. I am confident that I missed much of context, and intend to read the work in English soon, but the translation wasn't especially complex.

Por ejemplo hay Cathy, una chica mas rica. Tambien Esperanza and Nenny encontran Lucy y Rachel, dos hermanas. Ellas se hacen amigas y tienen muchas aventuras. I read this book for my intermediate Spanish class, and I found it to be a wonderful challenge because it expanded my vocabulary and helped me uncover the different ways things can be taken in Spanish. I liked how poetic the book is, though it was a bit confusing at times. It gives great insight into the issues faced by women and the lower classes. It's especially a great novel for those who are from Chciago!
   
   Leí este libro por mi clase de español y fue un gran desaño porque mi vocabulario aumentó y discubrí modas diferentes usar las palabras y las frases en español. Me gusta la carácter poética del libro, aunque algunos partes están confusos. Lo da buen perspicacia en las cuestiónes de las mujeres y las pobres. Especialmente, este libro es fantástico spor las personas son de Chicago.

1. I enjoyed reading this book. The history of slavery in the Caribbean and in New Orleans is presented by the author from the point of view of a woman slave. It is enlightening and, also, very interesting. Allende has great skills as a narrator.



2. Un libro cautivante de principio a fin, que dejan al lector con ganas de leer mas y mas.
   La narrativa simplemente espectacular, narrado desde 2 perspectivas: la de Zarite y la del narrador. Un libro que sin duda alguna se convertira en un clasico, con tanto contenido de hechos veridicos e historicos que se amalgaman en perfecta armonia con la ficcion.



3. Yo he leido casi todos los libros de Isabel Allende pero este es uno que me decepciono al final. Despues de leer tan interesante y profunda historia, el libro tiene un final muy rapido, como si le acababan las paginas para escribir o tuviera un numero limitado de ellas. Todavia sigue siendo un relato emocionante y le di 3 porque no me gusto como finalizo la historia. Al menos que la autora este escribiendo la segunda parte de este libro. Eso esta por verse.



4. Disfrute muchisimo este libro. Me lo recomendo una amiga y no estaba segura de que me gustaria, pues a veces me cansa leer del panorama colonial en latinoamerica. Allende logra trasportar al lector a otra epoca llena de injusticias y penas donde la vida de los esclavos vale menos que nada pero de una manera que no deja frustracion en el lector. El personaje principal, Zarite, es una mujer esclava inocente y luchadora que a su vez narra en 1ra. persona algunos capitulos. No lo pude dejar hasta el final.

1. Excellente libro, como todos los libros del Gabo. 100% recomendado para aquellos que les gusta la intriga. Aqui la historia no termina hasta cuando el lector llega hasta la ultima pagina.



2. A esta novela no le falta ni le sobra una pagina. La extension es perfecta. La trama es muy interesante pero los lectores en lengua castellana se daran cuenta de que al autor no le importa la historia sino como contarla. Por eso desde el principio Garcia Marquez le dice al lector como la historia acaba. La magia de esta obra no esta en el complot sino en la narracion, lo cual hace que este libro sea pura literatura. Para empezar a leer a Garcia Marquez yo siempre aconsejo esta novela, o tambien, Relato de un Naufrago. Dejen Cien Anos de Soledad para mas adelante.



3. I've had the pleasure of reading this book twice throughout school. I love this book. Garcia Marquez is a master of magical realism and this book's detail of the culture of Latin America is insightful. In this English version, you have to reread sentences because they're awkwardly worded, but that's only because it was translated from Spanish. Read this book!

1. "Un día nosotros vamos a cruzar la frontera." Eso es que la madre de Fernando dije a él cuando casi todos en su pueblo cruzaron la frontera a los estados unidos. Su familia es muy pobre y tenía 3 niños y 2 padres para dar comida. Cuando ellos legan a los estados unidos no tenían trabajo para 2 semanas. No se vi como pueden vivir sin eso moneda. Su familia recoger algodón en campos los del sur de California.
   Imagina viviendo en un país y no pueden hablar el lenguaje nacional. En escuela, no entender su maestra hablando a los otros niños. En los corredores, los niños riendo atrás de su espalda. Los niños siempre ser intimidando a ti. Ir a escuela con ropa de segunda mano. Eso es la vida de Fernando Jiménez.
   Me gusta el me gusta el libro mucho, es muy interesante. Sentí que era allí con Fernando cuando cruzó la frontera y sus situaciones en la escuela. Era un poquito triste cuando terminaron ese libro. El libro es un poquito raro pero soy feliz para leer el segundo en esa serie. ¿Sabes de qué es el próximo libro?

3. El libro "Cajas de Cartón" trata sobre un niño llamado Panchito cuya familia inmigra a los Estados Unidos. La familia era de solamente cuatro miembros, ellos llegan a California y tuvieron qué esperar dos semanas para poder empezar a trabajar; esas dos semanas pasaron y empezaron a trabajar en la pizca de algodón. Es aquí donde empieza su "nueva" vida.
   Al pasar las semanas, los papás de Panchito tuvieron otro bebé a quien llamaron "Trampita". Aunque ellos no estaban muy bien establecidos económicamente, seguían teniendo niños y la familia seguía creciendo. La familia llegó a tener ocho miembros en total. Algunos de los niños iban a la escuela con Panchito, mientras Roberto, el mayor, trabajaba e iba a la escuela pero la mayor parte del tiempo trabajaba.
   La familia vivió muchas experiencias, algunas divertidas y otras tristes. Sí te gustaría saber lo qué pasa realmente en el libro, leélo! Te gustará, porqué es un libro que atrae tu atención y es una historia única. ¡No hay ninguna historia igual como "Cajas de Cartón", es muy interesante! Personalmente, yo lo recomendaría a todos los qué han pasado por una situación igual a la de Panchito. Este libro no solamente atrae tu atención si no que también te da una lección. Al leer este libro te darás cuenta de que hay otras personas que han pasado por la misma situación que tú. ¿Y qué esperas? ¡Leé este libro ahora mismo, porqué se que te gustará!

Este conjunto de cuentos , es un verdadero deleite para cualquier lector y especialmente para los inmigrantes latinoamericanos que llegan a los EEUU a esforzarse y donde tiene que adaptarse a una nueva realidad. Francisco Jimenez, expresa y nos revela la realidad de los trabajadores de la tierra desde la vision de su ninez , sin perder la inociencia y relatandonos la realidad. Muy estimulantes cuentos, ahora continuare con el siguiente libro de Francisco Jimenez, orgullo latino!!!



5. Es cuento de una familia méxicana que vienen a EE UU en 1950's a hallar trabajo. Es se dijo a el niño y es en parte una autobiografía. Es un libro corto de 120 paginas y facil a leer. Un buen libro para el joven pero no tiene fin feliz. Quiza el autor usted quiere a leer su segundo libro que es una continuación de este cuento.
