1. I learned several bits of information that help immeasurably. The book is very informative, covers various styles of borders, and since we have visited some of the gardens it was especially enjoyable. Right now it's my absolute favorite.



2. The photographs alone will inspire gardeners to rework their entire garden. Not only does the book identify each plant in the photographs, but tells you how to maintain the look, gives insider secrets, and is interspersed with Tony Lord's witty prose. My favorite gardening book.

1. I was disappointed when I gave this book as a gift to find that it is not exactly the same as the hardcover edition. Some photos are missing that were in the hardcover edition so if you enjoyed that book don't think that this one will replace it. I don't know if the text is different.



2. This stunning tribute to the gardens of Provence is truly a masterpiece. The author and photographer have captured the most breathtaking collection of photographs of crafted nature to behold. The care and artistry that is unveiled is the essence of the beautiful plants that are seen in this unique and exquisite area of the world. The wonderful herbs that are evocative of Provence are left wild or cultured into enchanting or simple shapes that enrich the senses. The heady perfumes of Rosemary, thyme, lavender, and all the other local favorites almost reach the olfactory glands through the seductive rendering of this landscape. This book is sensual browsing; put your rosemary, lavender and thyme nearby. Create your own aromatherapy. Better yet, go there!

1. This is perhaps the most complete book on Provence I have come across. It offers excellent pictures and detailed history of all the major and surrounding areas which constitute Provence. The area, steeped in history, not least of which the Roman Empire, is eloquently portrayed in this book and is sure to indulge any reader on the delights that are to be found in Provence.



2. I found the book very useful in preparing for a vacation in Provence. It provides more information than most standard guide books, and a visual reference to planning where to spend our time. The book includes handy maps, floor plans of historic building, historical context and information about the current ecology, economy and populations. Many wonderful photographs!
