1. This book was full of wonderful scenery but it was not helpful in providing ideas about how to landscape an exsisting site. This was more an armchair travel book, not helpful in designing our own space.



2. If you dream your swimming pool as a mediterranean paradise, well, this is the book to look for. Exquisite pictures expose exotic pools accompanied by dramatic views on mediterranean coasts. The author provides brief explanations on materials, landscapes and, best of all, square footage, which I find very helpful. I personally was hoping for tropical themes and landscapes, and even "smaller" pools in "smaller" patios/backyards. So, most of the scenes exposed in this book do not apply to my particular situation. However, if I was to mimic a mediterranean look for my pool or patio, I'd find this book quite inspirational.

1. This thorough book organized gardens in New York city by location, gave subway and/or bus directions, and a wonderful description of each garden so it was easy to decide whether I wanted to go see that garden. It was amazing and I saw gardens big and small throughout my visit to the city in a short period of time. I'm going to check to see if the book is available for other places I tend to visit.



2. This book is filled with beautiful photos and short descriptons of gardens from all five boroughs of New York City. Leafing through it, once again I realized how special this city is. Garden Guide: New York City is a must for anyone who wants to know the city better; for those of us who live here and for those who are just visiting.

   Small enough to carry in one's purse, it is concise and well researched. It is pleasure to read and makes you want to explore the city through its gardens. Be careful, if you are not already a garden lover it might make you one. From the Chinese Scholar's Garden in Staten Island to the Botanical Garden in Queens; from Rincon Criollo in the Bronx to The Conservatory Garden on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, even in its gardens the diverstiy and creativity of New Yorkers is evident and that makes New Yorkers like me burst with pride.

1. I bought the book because I intend to build a japanese style house.This book is useless in residence design.The title is wrong!The book is about famous royal palaces and sorroundings.It contains exactly nineteen beautiful color pictures, showing some general views of six imperial palaces and gardens. Short descriptions and historical details are presented with a score of black and white pictures and some sketcks.

   It is difficult to believe that this ordinary book was written by the former leading authority in premodern Japanese architecture.

   I recommend "Form & Space in Japanese Architecture" by Norman Carver Jr, who really understood and captured the the japanese spirit.

1. I loved this book! I bought it to get ideas for some tree houses my wife and I will be building in India. It was especially helpful to us since Indians are just not used to this style of building and these pictures helped give our Indian architects a sense of what we were looking for. It is a great book to dream by too. How nice it would be to live in some of these homes. All homes should be tree houses!

1. Very dated book--the shipper sent this book a full week after the rest of my order arrived. They had misstated the condition of the book _VERY USED. A disappointment.



2. For the price, this book was pretty good. I would have liked to see more pictures of various landscaping techniques, but illustrations would have raised the price. I must admit, there is a fortune of text and drawings that one may bennifit from. So for the price, I give it a 4.

1. Its too bad this book is out of print! It is one of the most comprehensive collections of garden architecture and artifacts that I have seen. Over 1000 illustrations. The book draws on seven centuries of history and design from the great and lesser known gardens throughout the world. If you can find a copy of this book, buy it.
