- I love this book. It straightforwardly describes how to divide your backyard into enticing secluded corners using fences, lattices and hedges. Its filled with all kinds of clearly illustrated layouts and full color photos. All of the designs are classic English. Even though the book is dated 1987, the designs would not look out of place in todays gardens. It also has a lot of practical information on how to build paths, walls, fences, and varieties for hedges.
