1 comments about Teapots: The Collector's Guide.
- A new collector anticipates a little more in pictures, and styles, than general history of the eras of styles. Although this book had many pictures, it didn't quite hit the mark on actually idintifying pots by marks. I believe a colored catalogue of pics with marks would encourage a new collector to research their histories.

1 comments about Paktong: The Chinese Alloy in Europe 1680 - 1820.
- Keith Pinn, author of Paktong: The Chinese Alloy in Europe 1680-1820, inherited a collection of Paktong from his father to which he has added pieces and done extensive research resulting in this book. Paktong, a rare Chinese alloy of copper, zinc, and nickel, was imported during the 18th century and used by European craftsman to make wares in imitation of silver. It was not until around 1820 that sucessful attempts to copy Paktong resulted in what is now known as German silver. This book analyzes the Pinn Collection to identify and understand objects made from Paktong and how these differ and can be recognized from those made of German silver.

2 comments about The Book of Griswold & Wagner.
- I agree with the previous review. The claim of a newly "expanded" edition is far from truth. There is little new material and most prices have not been updated. I find it hard to believe that the authors have not taken into account internet auctions when the developed their values. Stick with the first edition if you have it! And for the publishers and authors, next time just print an updated price list that refers to items in the old edition, unless you do MAJOR revision and add MUCH new material!
- I was greatly disappointed with the "Revised & Expanded" claim of the second edition. I checked page for page with the first edition and found a total of three additional pictures, two of which were different views of items already listed. There are a few different sizes listed and some price updates, but hardly enough to warrent calling it "Revised and Expanded". If you want to find an item in the second edition, just look in the table of contents in the first edition. The two are the same and the books have exactly the same number of pages. Had I previewed it earlier, I would have spent my money on a different reference book.

2 comments about Pyrex by Corning: A Supplement and 1997-98 Price Guide.
- Don't make the same mistake I did.... which was caused by ME not completely reading the details of the so-called book I thought I was buying.
I thought I was buying a complete book AND a supplement... whereas this is just a 32 page supplement and absolutely NOT worth the money. Buy, instead the unauthorized Pyrex book. I was ripped off. But a lot of it was due to my own negligence. Stay away from this worthless piece of ....
- Although not one of the "hot" collectibles (at least yet), Pyrex has a fascinating history that a book like this helps to preserve. I acquired the supplement before the original book, and still it was a useful tool. I have been able to find items in this supplement that are not listed anywhere else, and it has enhanced my appreciation for Pyrex in general.
