1. I'm here looking for a book to replace this one that I spent too much money on for what looks like a family picture album. Basically the author is showing off her own collection on her friends and family with no real information on what to look for when collecting jewelry. Save your money and find a better book! It's terrible!

   Brightly illustrated with photos and text. A few photos of models wearing jewelry.



3. I was dismayed to see it was mostly pictures of people, not jewelry. Barely any useful information. Its a total waste of money.



4. This book has little to do with investing in jewelry. Too many pictures of uninteresting people and clothes. Too few pieces of interesting jewelry and no new information about the jewelry. A vanity publication. Better read Harrice Miller-first and second books.

1. This book is the best single reference on humanity's long-love affair with this unique gem: the pearl. Information on the pearl is given by time period (up to the early 20th Century) and by pearl producing region/country.
   If you love pearls (or are in the process of knowing about them), this book is definitely a must have. It has it all: scientific facts, pearl oyster biology and history. Incredibly well written.



2. This book has everything that one would want to know about pearls. It includes the pearl's cultural and natural history, commerce, industrial and medical uses, methods of pearl gathering, lists of famous pearls, ancient legends about pearls, (black and white) pictures of pearls, and portraits of royalty with their pearls.

   Since this book was written in 1906, the values of pearls are outdated, and the pre-metric measurements used are confusing.

   This is the best and most useful resource on pearls that I have discovered.

1. This book is concise and informative, with an overview of basic facts about the Hope Diamond, it's history and owners. Anyone with an unreasonable fear of the Hope Diamond will be particularly interested in the fact that Cartier manufactured the "curse" to sell the diamond based on a novel, "The Moonstone." "Blue Mystery" is an excellent precursor to "Queen of Diamonds", a fascinating autobiography of Evalyn Walsh McLean, the last private owner of the Hope Diamond.



2. The book intresed me in many ways! Just think all of the owners and some family members died in a horrible way. I've always had a special intrest in mysteries like this one. And probaly like others I want to get a chance to see it. Now that I've read the book I'm to scared!

1. This book covers the production of fine jewelry in the Newark, NJ area. A good variety of pieces are beautifully photographed. More importantly, the various US makers are indentified and discussed. A work of this type is essential before all record is lost of the unique contribution of these very fine and, until now, overlooked jewelers. The book is a revelation. Highly recommended. There is alot more to American jewelry than Tiffany's. Explore this unique heritage most of us didn't even know we had.

   Lovers of fine, unique jewelry will be delighted and amazed to find the stunning works of art displayed in this landmark volume by Fritz Falk. Pieces shown range from the middle of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th. These designs are elegant, extravagant one-of-a-kind pieces with styles representing Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
   
   Among the designers included are Rene Lalique, GeorgesFouquet, Theodor Wende, Ernesto Rinzi - to name only a few of the masters who created memorable pieces.
   
   Master goldsmith Fritz Falk holds a doctorate in art history and served as director of the Schmuck Museum from 1971 - 2003. The Schmuck, established in 1961, is the largest museum in the world dedicated to jewelry design and history.

1. Firstly, it is a wonderful photography book. The large color Photos feature women from the many ethnic groups within Nepal, decked out in the most gorgous jewelry! Much attention is given to the jewelry of the Tibetan groups. The text is informative and easy to read. After a long day at the office, I can open this book and be magically transported to an exotic place. If you enjoy learning about Himalayan art and culture, this book is for you!
