- I am a history buff and my ancestors arrived in New Orleans as early as 1831. This book helped me to make sense of the social-religious stratification of New Orleans. Jews,protestants, Slaves, freemen, firemen, police etc all buried in separate areas if not separate cemetaries. I hope the city keeps up these important parts of their history for future generations. Ny dad was at one time the chauffeur for William Helis who had his tomb made like the acropolis and imported soil from Greece to rest on. Very well done and informaive book.
- An excellent, detailed documentation of this very important part of New Orleans, past and present.

- This is one of the bests books about grand central and its surroundings ever published, not doubt you'll be 100% satisfied with it.
- This is a wonderful book on a magnificent building. This book has wonderful period photos as well as recent images and the text is highly informative. It's hard to believe that this building was once slated for demolition, thanks to New Yorkers like Jackie O, Grand Central was saved. Everyone who visits New York City should venture into this singular station, it embodies New York and you get a real feel for Gilded Age grandeur. If you have any interest in magnificent buildings or just good books in general then I believe you will not be disappointed.

- This wonderful book has thankfully been saved from obscurity and repinted. It is a treasure trove of Chalet architectual detailing. Craftsman's art that has long since died out, it has many pictures showing how the construction was done. Floor plans large and small you could build from today. They also delve into how this vernacular developed over time. Explains the rocks on the roof and the purpose of the wedged shaped eves (avalanche protection). If you have a Chalet project or a curiosity about how these were made, this is the book for you.
