1. After having tried a number of different publishers and autors on modern architecture I always come back to Philip Jobidio amd Taschen. Very tasteful selection, great pictures, helpful CAD drawings, best optical appearance. And best of all: great price.

1. This book shows the carvings from Angkor Wat in great detail.
   Unless you are really interested in them, it will be too much.
   Or, if you are a serious scholar, it is an ideal purchase.



2. Well worth reading if you plan to visit the temples. Provides explanation of the amazing bas-reliefs, which increases the value of a visit immeasurably.

1. If, like me, you're fascinated with grand hotels of the past, and especially with those that have managed to survive, you will enjoy Wentworth by the Sea, The Life and Times of a Grand Hotel. Dennis Robinson's book is much more than the history of a hotel; it is the story of New Castle, New Hampshire, from its settlement in the 1600's to modern time. The building, development, and ultimate salvation of the Wentworth has had much to do with this unique island village and its dynamic, fascinating people. The book is artistically done, with more than 250 pictures and drawings from all eras. Well written, it is filled with facts, legend, and lore told in an engaging manner that has its reader beginning at the front cover and following straight through to the end as if reading a novel. A terrific addition to New Hampshire's seacoast history!

1. This is a very good book on a fascinating family and a grand estate. Holkham is without doubt one of the grandest of the non royal estates, it really is quite a stack of stones. The history makes the house all the more interesting. The images in this book are very good and the text is very well researched. A must have!



2. An exceptionally well written account of the building, builders, and custodians of a magnificent piece of history. Would that this sense of stewardship were more widespread.
