- Given to me as a gift, I really wanted to like this little book, particularly since I am a big Wright fan. I knew it wasn't going to be great however, when the very first photograph on the first page was erroneously labeled. The photo is of FLLW's gravemarker, which the author claimed was located in Taliesin West (in Arizona). In fact, it is located in a small Lloyd-Jones family graveyard outside of Spring Green Wisconsin; I know this for a fact because I took the same photo on that very site. After that I skimmed through the rest of the book, and couldn't help but notice that there were many misspellings...even in the chapter headers at the top of every page ("Working in new materails" [sic]). Lastly, I'm not a fan of the form factor of this book - it's quite small (about 4"x5" on the face). While that may be why it's called a Field Guide, I can't imagine it being of any use "in the field" as it were. Besides, since Wright's incredible artistry is a visual feast, it is much better presented in a larger book; the photos in this book are pretty good...they're just too small to fully appreciate.
In short, I can't recommend this book...I think you and your money would be best served by picking up any one of the many excellent alternatives.
